Rising Storm

A Warriors Fanfic

By: Flame

Prologue:

In the middle of a large, shadowed clearing, pairs and pairs of frightened eyes glowed in the darkness. Some were green, some were amber, a few blue, and one set was crystal-clear. The eyes of a blind cat who sat in the middle of the group, staring straight up at the sky.

One cat, a black female with a husky voice, asked, "Snowstar! What will we do? ShadowClan has taken over our camp ... Where will we be able to go?" Her voice was quivering with fears, her green eyes alert and wide. One of her paws was held over a small apprentice, who looked just as scared as the rest of them.

Another cat, a large white she-cat, silenced her with a wave of her paw. "Hush, Ravenfeather. Wait until the medicine cat speaks." It was clear, though, that the leader too was afraid. No one knew what would happen.

That morning all had been normal in ThunderClan camp. A patrol was about to go out when suddenly, out of no where, ShadowClan warriors barged into the camp. Quickly a fray took place and when it was over, all of ThunderClan had fled deep into the woods that housed them. Now it was hours later and they were waiting anxiously for a sign from their medicine cat that something would be alright.

A small kit sat alone by his self, hazel eyes darting this way and that. He didn't know what was going on, except that his mother was missing. All that mattered was finding her, and making sure she was alright. The young tom stood up and moved closer in, shivering as he felt that someone was watching him.

Suddenly, a hush fell over the whispering and mewing of the cats. The blind tom in the center stood up, and a respectful look was cast to him by all of the cats. They knew not to talk while he was.

He had a pale gray coat, with several scars on it. He wasn't old, instead young. But he'd been blinded by birth and then could only have trained as a medicine cat.

"ThunderClan, do not be afraid. StarClan has talked to me. They told me of a rising storm that will come and save us all."

Immidietly talking burst out in the clearing.

"A storm? How can a storm save us? They only make us worse off, in my opinion!" An elder barked out, his faded tabby fur standing upright and his claws ready for battle. "Psht. StarClan's making no sense, that's what I say."

No one paid much attention to him, however. The tom was known for his eccentric ideas and if something didn't make sense to him, it probably made sense to alot of other cats.

The young kit stared up at the medicine cat. His voice was quiet and barely above a squeak as he asked the tom, "Clearsight? Where will we-" His mewl was ignored by all the other cats who were frenzied suddenly by the message.

His eyelids shut half-way over his eyes, Clearsight spoke again. "Stop. Don't panic. They are saying something else ..." He became rigid once more, his tail straight out behind him and his mouth slightly agape. The kit shivered as he watched him unfreeze slowly and turn back once more the to the crowd.

"A rising storm will save the Clan. The light will triumph over the dark."

Snowstar roused herself slightly, standing up. She bowed her head to her medicine cat. "Clearsight, thank you." She said, then once more took over her role as leader of ThunderClan. "My warriors, we cannot go back into ThunderClan camp tonite. We will go to the sunning rocks, where we will make camp for as long as ShadowClan stays in our camp." She shuddered suddenly, looking up at the crescent moon hovering in the sky. "I hope that the storm will arrive soon."

And with that, the pure white leader stood up and started to slowly make her way to the sunning rocks, with the rest of the clan following slowly. The kit stayed where he was, however, and fixed his eyes on the ravine that led to his camp. He wouldn't leave without his mother! He stood up, preparing to run back, when Clearsight, the Medicine Cat, put a paw on him.

He looked down at the kit, even though he could not see, but knew where he was. In a quiet voice that was filled with wisdom, he said softly and gently, "Come on, Stormkit. We need to go with the other cats. We'll look for her ... later."

Stormkit looked up, his scared amber eyes alarmed. But then he obeyed the tom and turned and followed the rest of the cats.
