Hi I'm new here and I'm pretty new to spriting.
Exxucus introduced this site to me because he told me that I could get good critique here. Can't seem to get any critique at all from anywhere so far so I registered here.
...well here's my first sprite (that I'm proud of).

Oni Link

It's Fierce Deity Link from Majora's Mask in case you didn't know.
I think it's pretty good, but then again I'm pretty noobish.
So tell me what you think. Good or bad. Are there errors that I should fix etc.
And I already know he has no sword. I'm going to put that later.
Thanks in advanced.

Thank you. Little suggestions like that are what I'm looking for. biggrin.gif
I tried and I think it looks better too. I only did that because a lot of the lords have that thing.
P.S. You're not talking about the eyes right. Because they're supposed to be white.

I like it, but the body may look better one pixel back, seems to be arking forward a little.

No, not the eyes, left of the eye is a two pixel white bar, that is absolutely dreadful when used on sprites...

Do you mean the torso?

All right. Changed it. But how come I've seen it on official sprites?

Yeah everything from teh waist up. And official sprites aren't as busy as yours with so many dark colors, it looks out of place.

I see. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to remember it. When I copied it into paint it looked a little darker than the original. Is that supposed to happen?
I'll try out changing what you said sometime. Although I sort of wanted that...I think. Wanted him to look a little buff. Maybe I did it too much.

Well if you stick out the chest further the torso would connect further back to support the chest increase.

Also it's probably a save change you may have copied a .png and pasted it into a 24-bit .bmp on paint. It's not a significant difference, in fact it's practically negligible especially if you're changing the pallet.

So what you're suggesting is that I move it back one pixel from the waist up then move the chest forward one pixel?
Also so far I've always saved my sprites as .png files. So when I copied it onto the original .png it was a little darker. Just wanted to know if that's supposed to happen. Is it better to save it as a .png or a .bmp?

No I'm saying move everything from the waste up (inclusing arms) one pixel to the right, our right.

It's a wee bit tall, though it looks fairly decent. The hair is a bit too big for an FE sprite, and the nearer leg looks to be bent outward at an awkward angle.
