Terrain:
Country to the north made up of five islands. Northern Nerane is full of snowy mountain-tops with many frozen rivers and lakes. It is constantly snowing and is nearly impossible to grow crops there. The southern part of Nerane is far more hospitable though, varying from oceanic climates to subarctic climates as it gets closer north. Majority of the population thrive here but the northern part is still inhabited by more than enough people.

History:
Nerane was originally run by tribes of people known as the Kori, a race with extreme resistance to the cold of the north. After the eight years war, The legendary hero, Anavel, united the tribes of the Kori and human immigrants together and eventually created the empire of Nerane. Anavel, for unknown reasons, soon gave his lordship up to Zahhak Kesan and disappeared never to be seen again. The Kesan family has been in power ever since.
For the most part, Nerane has remained neutral in all conflicts since it's founding. The country became very active and looked as if it was ready wage war when Zachary Kesan was in power in the late 1080's and early 1090's. However before the world could see what he had in store, he mysteriously died of a sudden illness. Since then Nerane has returned to it's neutral ways.

Notable Historical Figures
Anavel - Founder of Nerane. He is not part of the Kesan family but was the first emperor of the country. He is a legendary hero who proved that dark magic is not evil and can be used for good.

Zahhak Kesan - Another hero of Nerane. Many did not see Zahhak fit to rule a country at first. But he turned out to be very charismatic and loved by many by the end of his life.

Zachary Kesan - The first emperor to openly use dark magic since Anavel. Zachary was the only person ever to be able to wield Anavel's personal dark tome, Meptyro. Because of this, he was thought the be the strongest magic user of that time. Zachary was also adept with fighting with a lance, a rare trait for a magic user. He is also the first emperor to not marry a noble. Instead he married his general, Ceres Valkyria, who was a commoner by birth. Few nobles complained about his choice out of fear. He used force to solve many problems and was either viewed as a great leader or a bad one. During the end of his rule, it appeared he was mobilizing for war but he immediately got sick and died a few months after becoming ill. Zachary also strangely gained fangs, claws, and demonic looking wings on his head and back during his life as a teen. This was kept a secret from almost everyone and he normally wore a crown and a large cloak wherever he went. These traits stayed in the family until Adrian Kesan was born. Rumors are abound that a group of trusted subordinates betrayed and killed him instead of sickness claiming his life. It is true that many of the nobles and other higher ups of Nerane at the time either disappeared or quit their service around his death, the world may never know...

Ceres Kesan - Empress and Zachary's wife, her maiden name was Valkyria. She was a commoner at birth but the Emperor saw potential in her and bumped her up from Pesant to General. She proved to be an effective Falcon Knight and gained the nickname "Raging Falcon" due to her mad expression as she cut through her opponents. She eventually became engaged to the Emperor and later gave birth to Zachary the II and Noir.

Zachary Kesan the II - Zachary II became the Emperor at the age of nine, making him the youngest Neranian Emperor ever. Though for the most part, he was a figurehead until he was capable of actually making rational decisions for the empire.

Xan - Served as Emperor Zachary's right hand man. Xan set the standard for a rightous knight serving the empire. Many knights in the past and the present see him as inspiration due to his strength, honor, and dedication. After Zachary's death, Xan seemed to have disappeared from the world leaving not a trace of him behind. He never had children but left his legacy to his adopted daughter Shermie.

Shermie - Xan's daughter and self-proclaimed "Knight of Justice." She was just as famous as her father for the same reasons. The key difference between her and her father was she was vigilante, not a knight. She traveled the world punishing evil where ever she found it. She returned to Nerane when she retired and lived the rest of her life out peacefully.

Takuya Hizoku - Known as Zachary's left hand as opposed to Xan. He was a Rowanian immigrant who brought his clan to Nerane. Takuya was skilled but also was a lunatic. His unstable persona led to his clan's destruction. He disappeared for sometime afterwards but strangely appeared as a noble in Zack's service years later. He did most of the empire's dirty work and didn't get along with many of his peers. He also disappeared after Zachary's death. Many believe he left because the only person who ever trusted him in the empire's aristocracy was the Emperor.

Island Information:

Avalon - The island with the highest population of the five islands.

Towns/Cities
Damnavad - the capitol and largest city in Nerane.
Lexington - city in Nerane. Richer immigrants from the west tend to come here to live.
Raldo - smallest city of Nerane. Trades goods with Fyredun
Ryna - A large town south of the capitol, Dauze was born here.
Darkville - A small town that has grown over the past couple of years. It's full of dark magic users, hence it's name.
Ice - regular town
Sol - town that trades with Leora often. Immigrants from Leora tend to end up here.

Locations
The Alchemist's Tower - An extremely tall tower located somewhere in the Damnavad Mountains. It was once home to an alchemist but is now deserted.
Forest of Raldo - A very large forest in between Raldo and Ice.
Lake of Neravar - Large lake next to Raldo Forest.

Dahaka - The center island Nerane.

Towns/Cities
Montag - oldest and second largest city of Nerane. When Nerane was first founded, this was the capitol. It has a port that trades with Avalon
Molok - town that trades goods with Mori.
Mazo - town that trades goods with Honoji.
Mora - town that trades goods with Fyredun.

Locations
Anavel River - River named after the first emperor
Zahhak River - River named after the second emperor
Lake Arturia - A lake named after Arturia, Zahhak's mother and friend of Anavel. It has a massive cave beneath it.

Fyredun - A heavily forested island. Very reminiscent of Leora's south.

Gora - Biggest town on the island. It's an odd place, located in the forest. Many Kori live here. It was named after a famous Kori legend.
Tyr - town that trades goods with Dahaka.
Miscar - town that trades goods with Avalon.

Locations
Forest of Gora - The forest is the largest in Nerane and covers the entire island.
Lake Gora - a large lake inside the forest.

Mori - The western island of Nerane.

Towns/Cities
Karvan - A port town that handles majority of trading with the west.
Riellesel - A very large town that trades goods with Avalon. It is home to the Riellesel Institute.
Runewick - town that trades goods with Dahaka.

Locations
Karvan Forest - A forest outside of Karvan. The poorer immigrants of the west tend to end up here when they cannot make it to Lexington.
Lake Nasser - A large lake outside of Runewick
Riellesel Institute - An organization owned by a group of female acolytes. The organization is extremely well known for their unique purification service. To put it bluntly, they claim to absorb the sins of men through intercourse. And to make it even more tempting for men to go, it's free. The only catch is that all visitors much do a random drawing a day before they may enter. The chances of getting in are fifty-fifty at best.

Honoji - the least populated of all the islands. Former country, Rowan had a hand in it's development. It is the coldest Island.

Towns/Cities
Vara - Biggest town on the island, trades goods with Fyredun. The town is known for an excellent bakery.
Naga - town that trades goods with Dahaka.
Hizoku - A deserted town. It was once long ago populated with a ninja clan of the same name. Takuya Hizoku lived here before becoming a general. This is also where Zachary Kesan went when he became ill and eventually died.

Locations
Hizoku Mansion - A mansion in the middle of Hizoku. Not many are aware that this is Noir Kesan's residence.

Emperor Adrian Kesan
Age: 32
Adrian has been Emperor for 15 years, his rule is a just and peaceful one. He has the inhuman blood of his great grandfather, Zachary Kesan, running within him. The blood has become diluted over the generations and he is the first Kesan not to have the trademark demonic wings his predecessors up to Zachary had. Normally, he is an easy-going man and is known to be very apathetic. Recently however he has become more active and on the edge due to his wife's death.

Empress Lorelei Kesan
Age: 29 (deceased)
Lorelei was Adrian's beloved wife for roughly half of his life. During their last anniversary, an assassin made an attempt on Adrian's life. But Lorelei defended her husband and ended up sacrificing herself. Many believe that the assassin was Vardasian, making Adrian rather irritated when dealing with Vardas' nobility

Princess Catherine Kesan
Age: 1
Catherine is Adrian and Lorelei's second child. Lorelei was pregnant with Catherine when she defended Adrian from the assassin. The shock sent her into labor and led to Catherine being born earlier than expected.


Princess Noir Kesan
Age: 94 (visually looks extremely younger obviously)
Noir's existence is unknown to many. She is the daughter of Zachary Kesan, making her Adrian's great aunt. Out of all of Zachary's successors, she inherited most of his inhuman traits. Despite her demonic look, she is a very sweet woman and is well liked by the few people who interact with her.


Knight General Gar "Black Diamond" Manfred
Age: 58
Co-commander of the knights of Nerane. Gar is a brave and manly man who believes strength is the way to win any fight. He is the oldest of all the generals of Nerane ever since Noss' retirement and quite possibly the most well known due to his frequent visits to all the towns and cities of Nerane when off duty. His title "Black Diamond" refers to his nearly unbreakable dark armor that shines while he is in the heat of battle.


Knight General Ramiro "White Beryl" Leyon
Age: 35
Class: Sniper
Co-commander of the knights of Nerane. He is a quiet man who rarely speaks unless it's necessary. Ramiro is Gar's partner and counterpart. While Gar relies on power to win battles, Ramiro places all his bets on tactics. Many would assume their relationship is hectic but in fact Ramiro and Gar are the best of friends. Ramiro's title refers to a statement made by Adrian "His brilliance shines like that of a gemstone." Though honored, he personally dislikes the title. He thinks he deserves a more original name than a "rip off of Gar's."


Lord David "Pale Reaper" Noss
Age: 87
Class: Bishop(?)
Retired general, he spends his days by Adrian's side as an adviser. His personality can be described as cool and collected, no one has ever seen him lose his temper. He earned his title "Pale Reaper" due to his sickly white skin and his massive kill count from back in the day.

Morita Rielle
Age: 31
The head of the Riellesel Institute. She herself does not take part of the purification service they offer. She is a very kind person but always seems to be worried about issues of the Institute. Many who work for her tell her to take a break every now and then but she ignores them and tries even harder keeping order in the place.


Klein Strout
Age: 55
A ruthless murderer. He was once a mercenary and arena fighter years ago but he soon became addicted to killing people. He travels the lands in search of flesh to cut, be it strong or not. To him, ending a life is the ultimate joy. He currently has a large bounty on his head and it is slowly raising as the days go by. He is an elusive man though and is very hard to find.


Merrygate
Age: Unknown
A bizarre man who has been seen throughout Nerane for the past few years. Recently he has acquired a mysterious black statue stolen from St. Annes' Abbey. He leaves Nerane for Brutus' Isle after meditating near the statue whispering "N-N-Now will be my only c-c-c-chance. I must g-get to him before he returns to N-N-N-Nerane!"


Gil
Age: 43
A mercenary leader who is a descendant of Shermie. Though defeated, he succeeded in his mission at St. Annes' Abbey. Unfortunately, Merrygate has disappeared without paying him for his services. Needless to say Gil is pissed.

Her title is a reference to her high kill record and her connection to the royalty.

Often abused by Dauze for entertainment but is treated way better than she was before she was bought by him. Despite her status and her master's ways, she appears to be content. Some may assume she is nuts putting up with Dauze but it takes different strokes to move the world.
