Title: Dark magic, does anyone use?

cannonfire - June 23, 2008 08:57 PM (GMT)
I've played FE10 all the way up to the Goddess, and my father has beaten the game, but we've never found a character that uses Black Magic. Not one. and I've only seen two enemies that use it, both bosses. Am I doing something wrong, or did someone mess with the game. Seriously, in the final few levels the shops sell black magic tomes and theres no one able to use them.

SPOILERS (if anyone cares)

Pelleas uses Dark magic, but you can only recruit him on your second playthough, and only if you let him live after chapter 3-12. A third option will appear saying "refuse the duty" or something when you have to choose between having Micaiah kill him and passing the duty on to Tauroneo. Pelleas becomes playable sometime in Part 4.

There are two Druids near the boss in the Kauku Caves or whatever in Part III, although it's an irrelevant detail.

Septimus. Don't you dare forget his name. >:(

There's also Veyona, but it's really hard to recruit him. You have to follow all these really strict criterions.

Yeah. They missed it when they started hacking the game because Veyona doesn't have extraordinary growths or anything like that. They only found out just recently.

I was referring to the chapter's name, not the boss's. Of course I remember the boss's name.

So, how do you recruit him? I have always wanted a dark magic user, and they did not put them in Path of Radiance . . . how could they do such a horrible thing?!

I've never heard that before. :o

Okay, you have to do all these steps. (Also, make sure you're playing Hard Mode, that's the only mode he joins in. I assume he's kinda the replacement of Oliver in that respect, because in the Japanese version, Oliver is Hard Mode only.)

1) First, you have to beat Chapter 3-3 without killing Veyona. You also have to successfully visit all the huts things in the chapter. I also think you have to steal his Shade Scroll, but I'm not sure about that. I did, just to be safe.

2) Next, you have to beat Lethe in Chapter 3-6. I had to power level Jill in order to do this.

3) Then, in Chapter 3-7, you have to fight and beat every single actual character on the enemy side sans the Black Knight. This wasn't too hard with Haar, but trying to get Veyona and Sephiran in one playthrough is hectic. o_o

4) If you do this, one of the Druids next to Septimus in Chapter 3-8 (Incandescent Glow, Othin) will be replaced with Veyona. Apparently he now sees that Zelgius is just a puppet for the senators and, coupled with the fact that he has just been assigned a suicide mission, decides to ditch the Begnion army. Talk to him with Ike to recruit him.

yoshi71089 - June 24, 2008 07:18 PM (GMT)
Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeto. I'm totally doing that when I have that non-existant free time. %::%

Ice wolf - June 24, 2008 07:30 PM (GMT)
I will also try if I have the time.

Where will I get 80 hours, though? . . .

Hydrogen - June 24, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
I wonder if he can promote to Summoner.

No, he just promotes into Arch Sage.

Ah...I'm already on chapter 3-13 on my hard mode run. D= I'll probably forget about this by the time I reach that point in the game again...

I'm at chapter 3-7 and there's something that isn't clear to me. You say you have to kill every actual character on the enemy side except for the Burger King Black Knight. By that you mean the characters that have a mug and not a Crest (generics) like Aran, Jill, Micaiah, Sothe... or do you mean EVERY SINGLE ENEMY HAS TO BE TERMINATED with the exception of the BK?

Another thing, some of the Dawn Brigaders like Zihark and Jill can turn over by talking to them with certain characters. Is it safe to talk to them or is it a bad idea to spare them by doing so?

You have to wipe out every single enemy. EVERY ONE.

I haven't tried talking to any of them. I don't THINK it will affect anything...

Near - July 21, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
Recruiting them works, but only if you get all three of the recruitable units on that map. If you get exactly one or exactly two of the three, it doesn't work.

Hydrogen - July 21, 2008 09:38 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing the third one is Meg. Since it's going to be a drag to get Brom all the way over there I should just defeat them.

Near - July 21, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)
It's not Meg, I'm sure of that much. I can't remember who it is though... I'll try looking it up; shouldn't take long.

She can have a conversation with him in 3-F if they had an A support; I can't remember whether that recruits her or not. I know that doesn't work in 3-7, though.

Sety - July 22, 2008 02:35 AM (GMT)
It's Meg (Brom) Jill (Haar) Zihark (Ilyana)

To show someone on an internet forum something about a videogame because they refuse to see it for themselves?

Sety - July 24, 2008 01:14 AM (GMT)
"I said so" isn't proof, even if it is true. I'm not going to start an entire new file of FE10, and do all of this work so it might happen.

Near - July 24, 2008 01:17 AM (GMT)
And if you wouldn't want to do that for yourself, why the fuck would anyone else want to do what you're proposing for you?

Sety - July 24, 2008 01:26 AM (GMT)
If I do what LB proposed, the only person affected is myself. If LB does what I proposed, it affects both him, me, and the rest of the internet.

La_Belette - July 24, 2008 01:55 AM (GMT)
I'm not going to go buy a digital camera I don't need.

Pictures are the best invention in mankind.

If I do what LB proposed, the only person affected is myself. If LB does what I proposed, it affects both him, me, and the rest of the internet.

Yet the person who actually has to buy something solely for the sake of proving something to other people that could find it out themselves gets nothing from it.

Would you buy a digital camera solely for the sake of proving something to someone online?

Sety - July 24, 2008 02:27 AM (GMT)
Yes, because I could use it for millions of other things, like Myspace pictures : D

Near - July 24, 2008 02:30 AM (GMT)
I said solely for the sake of that. Looking at it from the standpoint that you don't care about any of that- surely that can't be such an alien concept -can you seriously say that you would do it?

Sety - July 24, 2008 02:48 AM (GMT)
I bought Rock Band for the sole purpose of playing the drums, only to end up using all of the instruments.

So yes, I can still say so. Even if I said no, I could find millions of uses for a camera.

Hydrogen - July 26, 2008 04:00 PM (GMT)
Right then, I whiped the entire map out of enemies except the Black Knight. You said Veyona would be next to Septimus from the beginning of that chapter. I don't see him.
Hm, I remember you said to kill Lethe the chapter she's the boss. I did defeat her but in human form. Is that what tarnished it?

I have an extra save file of that chapter so I could start over from there at any time.

Sety - July 26, 2008 05:28 PM (GMT)
Did you steal his Shade Scroll?

Hydrogen - July 27, 2008 12:24 AM (GMT)
I remember clear as day. After I had Heather steal the White Gem and the Ashera Icon from the two cowering Senators, I had her wait near the fence on the left side on the last tent where you get the Hammerne. I also got the other two items Master Crown and Blossom. Could there be a fourth tent to visit?
So along with Heather was Oscar, he was in Veyona's range. Oscar was holding a Javelin or a Short Spear. Veyona was hurt but still standing. Heather then stole his Shade scroll and then I let Rolf burn the last supply to end the mission.
