Two days until they left for the Chuunin exams and Raiden was preparing a meal for himself for the day. He wasn't wearing the gauze or headband to cover his eyes as no one lived with him to suffer the Kyosugan's effects. Suddenly a knock came at the door followed by a envelope slipping underneath it. Moving to the door, Raiden picked up the only piece of mail he'd ever gotten and lifted it. Flipping the envelope over, his name was written in neat handwriting and held no return address. Flipping it back over, Raiden opened the envelope and pulled out the paper that was inside as he stopped preparing the meal he was making.

Raiden...

How long has it been at this point? Six years? Seven? At writing this, I wonder where you are now... I hope you're doing well for yourself and I'm deeply sorry you had to battle it alone in your life... You probably don't remember us after the accident but I suppose it could be for the best. I've included a few pictures that might jog your memory after you finish reading this. Ah...I wish I could see your face one more time, even to see how much you've grown... But by the time you get this, you wont be able to find any of us.

You must be so confused, being blind to the effects of the Kyosugan and all. Unless you've managed to see what it does, then I apologize for having to bear a burden so heavy on your shoulders... I trust you'll get used to it, you have your father's determination I'm sure...

What could he have responded with? When he saw the picture and saw him as a child within a family of four. Within a flash, he was gone. Headband on and out the door, Raiden began running to the only place he knew possible and prayed that it wasn't true. As he ran, flashes occurred, voices rang out throughout his mind, memories swarmed him like hungry animals to a feast. His mind screamed in agony, reaching the area he believed to be as the Memorial Gravesite.

Feet were pushed to the place that he'd read about in the letter, and at his feet were two headstones. Right hand came up to his headband and hesitated, his breathing became heavy, he tore the headband from his eyes and slowly opened his eyes. His cursed eyes, the eyes of the Kyosugan that read the names he didn't want to see. Names he remembered, names that triggered the erosion of what was left of that emotional wall.

Silence, all that could be heard was the gentle wind blow against the branches above and the headband that remained in his hand. It squeezed, palm pressing tightly against the steel part of the headband, and small rivers began their descent from the fires within that tormented his life every single day. The names of his parents on one, and his sibling on the other, Raiden was destroyed and did his best to contain himself. All attempts failed miserably as he fell to his knees and felt the pounding within his head, the eyes began to burn as he felt something changing within him.

The Kyosugan was swirling violently, attempting to change itself as Raiden closed his eyes and covered his face, attempting to dull the pain as best as he could. this was what pain felt like, emotional and physical at its peak, his eyes opened to reveal cat-like optics before they switched back to their abnormal state and he was back to himself.

Something awakened within him...Something dark and evil...
