Title: Soul vs Slader
Description: A fight to witness

Slader - December 29, 2011 07:19 AM (GMT)
Slader, standing not far from the town of Nibelheim, awaited his friend Soul. He had sent him an invitation to spar, since it had been far too long since the two had last fought; the last fight they had, including Shyde, ended with most of the ShinRa Alchemist Head Quarters destroyed. After that fight the president of ShinRa, Rufus, had banned the leaders of the military from dueling one another, unless they were out of towns and away from civilians or property. The thought of the last fight, and the fight to come, put a smile on Slader's face. Just the thought of fighting another strong alchemist was enough to get him excited.

Pulling out his Buster Sword with his right hand, he looked at it in front of him, then stabbed the sword into the earth. Pulling out a cigarette, Slader lit it up; he could sense Soul about to arrive at the fight. Going up against Soul, he may not have a chance to light up another one for a while.

"This is gonna be fun."

Unforgiven - December 29, 2011 07:56 AM (GMT)
Soul marched onward into what was to be a secluded battlefield. A battle-land that would be surely ravaged by duel that is to come. Sparks started to appear around the anxious Brave as his aura started to grow. He could easily see Slader from the distance. A man who he felt was definitely an equal to him in many ways. This time, however, Soul smirked at the fact he truly believed he could defeat his friend this time. He definitely changed a lot since back then. Now he has full control over his powers. New techniques he could use against his opponent.

After a few minutes, Unforgiven was about twenty feet away from Slader. He could already tell that his friend was way more than stoked for this fight. Soul smirked as he unsheathed his bandaged Buster Sword with his right hand, pulling at the knot at the end of the handle with his left hand to let the bandages fly off through the wind. This revealed his weapon's condition, battle worn, cracked at many places, and once again ready for another intense fight. He held out his left hand, creating a dark doppelganger of his Buster Sword. More sparks went off as he allowed his aura to intensify even more.

"Slader, my friend. My equal. It's time for you to know that I am much different compared to what I was the last time we faced. I am here to win. Fighting me will most likely be one of the most difficult battles you'll ever have.", he said as he crossed both his weapons and assumed his battle stance. Soul thought to himself "This will also be one of my toughest challenges yet Slader. No matter who wins, we're still fighting on the same side. I'm proud to be an ally of yours and i'm ready to give this fight my all"

Slader - December 29, 2011 09:15 AM (GMT)
Soul had approached the battlefield with a strong aura around him, one that Slader had never sensed on Soul. Slader instantly knew that he had managed to find some untapped power within himself over the past year, one so powerful that the earth seemed to tremble against Soul's might. At that moment, he knew exactly why the ShinRa had kept a close eye on his friend since such an early age; it was this power that they wanted on their side. Though the ShinRa were more than likely over joyed to see his power on their side, Slader found joy in knowing his friend had finally found his true power. A strength to easily match or even surpass his own.

Stopping just a few yards in front of Slader, Soul unsheathed his sword. Holding it with one hand, Soul pulled the knot that kept the bandages on his blade, revealing a tattered, worn out version of the Buster Sword. His energy was increasing by the second, and Slader could visually see his aura growing. Once the bandages were completely off his sword, Soul created a dark doppelganger of the large blade to hold in his left hand. A trick Slader knew well, being the Dark Alchemist. With both weapons in hand, Soul's power continued to intensify. Sparks appeared to come off him, even from the slightest movements.

Finally he spoke, "Slader, my friend. My equal. It's time for you to know that I am much different compared to what I was the last time we faced. I am here to win. Fighting me will most likely be one of the most difficult battles you'll ever have." He crossed his blades together, getting into his fighting stance.

"I don't doubt it, Soul. Even from here I can see how much you've grown. I'll probably have to give it everything I've got. I have to warn you though," Slader took a drag of his cigarette before tossing it on the ground and stepping on it, "I don't intend to lose this match."

Pulling out his Buster Sword from the ground with his right hand then grasping it with the other, Slader quickly was covered in a large amount of Dark alchemic energy. A thick, black aura surrounded Slader's body and blade as he got into the common SOLDIER fighting stance. Soul had also been trained as a 1st Class SOLDIER, as well as an expert with two handed weapons, along with have the alchemy power over all elements; now that Soul had managed to untap his hidden potential he even could create dark alchemic doppelgangers like Slader. He couldn't help but think that the match might already be in Soul's court.

Once Slader was fully in his stance, he looked at Soul and gave him a smirk, "Let's go!" Slader yelled rushing at him. Holding the blade with both hands, Slader began the fight with a Cross Slash: the first swing came in diagonally from the right coming down, leading up with a horizontal quick slash and a finishing with a quick swing coming from the bottom left going up. The attack was slow, and once started couldn't be stopped. Once he had finished the Cross Slash, he jumped in to the air. Swinging his blade infront of him pointing down at Soul, a Dark enhanced Blade Bleam shot out from his sword, hurtling through the air towards Soul.

Landing a few yards away on his feet, Slader spun his sword around horizontally letting another Blade Beam come out from his sword, this one going through the air horizontally. When the Blade Beam was released from his sword, Slader followed up with a Climhazzard attack. The attack would be easy to dodge if Soul were to see it coming. Lunging forward (but staying behind the blade beam), the tip of the blade aimed at Soul, Slader hoped that if he lands the attack and is able to stab Soul, he'll be able to weaken him a bit. If the attack fails and Soul blocks it, it'll leave him open for an attack.

"I don't doubt it, Soul. Even from here I can see how much you've grown. I'll probably have to give it everything I've got. I have to warn you though," Slader had one last puff of his cigarette before he tossed it to the ground, stepping on it afterwards, "I don't intend to lose this match."

Soul watched Slader pull out his signature weapon, the Buster Sword. He knew of the things to come. How intense this battle will become. The land would soon become scarred. Watching both of Slader's hands grasping the Buster Sword. Within an instant he was covered with a fierce dark aura right along with his weapon. Slader then entered the common SOLDIER fighting stance. Unforgiven was completely covered in chills from how powerful his adversary was. All he could do was chuckle and smirk, this is what he was waiting for. The ground was indeed trembling beneath both the combatants. The power his friend had was extraordinary. Such fierce darkness that belong to one as strong as Slader. Soul already knew this fight would be far from easy. He knew, however, that good things never come easy.

Slader gave Soul a wide smirk, "Let's go!", he yelled while rushing at him. Well, he's as excited as I am., Soul thought as he watched Slader begin the fight with a Cross Slash: the first swing came in diagonally from the right coming down, leading up with a horizontal quick slash and a finishing with a quick swing coming from the bottom left going up. He didn't have enough time to block Slader's attack, taking on the full blow of the Cross Slash. However Soul's stance was not broken and he was able to block the Slader's darkness enhanced Blade Beam with his dual Buster Swords. The damage he took was enough to knock down his power a bit, his aura weakening some.

Landing a few yards away on his feet, Slader spun his sword around horizontally letting another Blade Beam come out from his sword, this one going through the air horizontally. When the Blade Beam was released from his sword, Slader followed up with a Climhazzard attack. He watched as Slader was following right behind his Blade Beam attack. Soul easily blocked the Blade Beam attack, noticing that Slader is about to unleash his Climhazzard attack. He only had but a couple seconds to do something about it. This amount of time was way more than enough to deal with Slader. "Mother Earth, lend me your strength.", Soul thought as he stomped the ground. A giant slate of rock underneath Slader propelled him about twenty feet into the air. Soul knew that this is one of those chances he'd have to take to his advantage.

"Heart of Fire!", Soul yelled, both his weapons became engulfed in a flame that burned brilliantly. Afterwards, he started to spin, projecting flames within a 50 foot radius, creating a circular wall of blazing flames that stood forty feet tall. This land wasn't a battlefield anymore. The land now became an arena of blazing heat. Soul, having some natural resistance to every element, wouldn't feel as much of the heat as his opponent would. He propelled himself into the air with a powerful gust of wind, appearing right in front of Slader. Looking Slader right dead in the eyes with his blood red eye color that now became an even darker shade of red. "Dragon's Tongue!", he said, starting to slice at the air with extreme haste. Being able to cover up four sword strokes and making it look to be two. This created a powerful flame in the shape of an asterisk. The Dragon's Tongue technique was one that would not miss. Slader, however, would have a chance to take less damage if he's able to successfully block this attack. Even if he does, the attack will still wrap around him and engulf him in flames for a good five seconds. After finishing with the Dragon's Tongue attack, he flipped backwards out of the air and back onto the ground. Soul smirked as he spit to the side. "This is my Arena now Slader. I won't allow you to beat me. I hope you can stand the heat my friend because it's not getting better any time soon", Soul crossed his Buster Swords that were engulfed in flame going back into his battle stance.

Slader - December 30, 2011 08:02 AM (GMT)
Slader followed the Blade Beam he sent out closely, being only a few seconds behind it; those few seconds were enough for Soul to disperse of his Blade Beam and stomp on the ground. Slader staggered for a moment after Soul's simple action; the earth beneath him quaked as a slate from the ground launched him high into the air. "Heart of Fire!" Slader heard Soul yell. Within seconds, a devastating heat wave came over Slader, as walls of fire standing forty to fifty feet tall circled around him in what appeared to be a fifty foot radius. The heat was nearly crippling, and if it wasn't for the Shroud of Darkness covering him, it would be even worse.

Before Slader could jump off the slate of rock, Soul has propelled himself into the air using a gust of wind. Soul appeared in front of Slader in no time at all, and maintained his spot afloat in the air. In a brief second, Slader made eye contact with him; he could see the dark crimson color of his eyes before he started his attack. "Dragon's Tongue!", Soul yelled out as he sliced at Slader, in high speed. The attack formed the shape of an asterisk and was enhanced with fire as well. The acceleration of his attack and the element of surprise caught Slader off guard, taking every blow and becoming covered in fire as Soul backflipped, returning to the ground below them.

The heat from the attack covered him, and the walls of flames were adding to the effect. Before the fire could do too much damage to him, Slader extended his arms out, holding his sword with his right hand, and forced a large amount of dark energy out from his body. The fire on him was extinguished from the darkness, as well as destroying the slate of ground that he stood on. The debris fell faster than he did to the ground, as he slowly drifted back to earth. Once both his feet were on the ground, Slader walked forward a little more as Soul spoke out to him.

"This is my Arena now Slader. I won't allow you to beat me. I hope you can stand the heat my friend because it's not getting better any time soon." Crossing his swords again, Soul got back into his fight stance

Slader stood only a few feet in front of him now, standing more in the center to avoid much of the heat from the flamed walls that surrounded the fight. "You think this is hot?" Slader asked his friend, slowly adding to the Dark Aura that surrounded him. "Try being in the Corel Desert during the Summer time. That, I assure you, is like Hell on Gaia, and I'm not just talking about the people down their either." Slader smirked. "It could be worse."
"There is no way it could get any hotter than this! What is he trying to do, cook me well done?!" As proud as he was, Slader couldn't help but feel the sweat coming down his face, but he wasn't about to admit he was struggling already.

Slader grasped his hilt with both hands again, getting into his stance; a larger amount of Dark Energy covered him. The Dark Shroud that covered and swirled around him, although helped keep him a little bit cooler, wasn't enough to fully keep the flames from effecting him. "Nothing like the dark's sweet, cold embrace." he thought to himself before beginning his next attack on Soul. Dashing toward Soul to close the little distance that was left, Slader began his "HexaSlash" attack: starting off with a quick horizontal swing, he followed with a downward diagonal swing from the right, then one from the left, followed by a vertical slice, then two more horizontal slices from both sides. Slader knew that Soul would be able to block at least most of the attacks, but each followed attack was powered up from the last, making the final swing very powerful.

Back flipping while holding the Buster Sword with one hand, after his Hexaslash, Slader landed close to where he was before the attack had started. Raising up his left hand and pointing his palm at Soul, Slader began to fire off Dark Energy Spheres at Soul. Three black spheres quickly shot out from his hand, not one slower than forty miles per hour. The spheres were no bigger than a foot around, but traveled fast and had weak homing. Once he had sent out the spheres, he used his left hand and punched the air in front of him, adding the power of his Dark Pummel attack behind the spheres. Grasping his sword with both hands, he began to pant, "I need to do something about these walls of fire if I want to keep fighting..."

Unforgiven - December 31, 2011 07:19 AM (GMT)
Soul couldn't help but be amazed when Slader extended his arms out and calling upon intense darkness from his own body. The blazing flames became extinguished within a heartbeat and the slate of ground was destroyed. The debris from the destroyed slate fell to the ground far faster than what Slader himself did. Slader walked over and stood a couple feet in front of him. "You think this is hot?", he asked, a dark aura creeping slowly around his body. "Try being in the Corel Desert during the summer time. That, I assure you, is like hell on Gaia, i'm not talking about the people down there either., Slader proclaimed as he smirked. "It could be worse." Soul gritted down on his teeth from the snarky comment his friend made. He then took a short moment to notice something, there was a bit of sweat going down Slader's cheek. He then noticed something else, his eyes shifted left and right. Only in a short moment Soul realized Slader was right smack dab in the middle of the blazing arena. "I see. You're trying to avoid as much of the heat as you possibly can. A clever strategy. I think I may have caught him in a bluf-" A small trickle of sweat trailed its way down his cheek. Soul wasn't completely immune to the heat but he knew he could last much longer in it.

Slader grasped his hilt with both hands again, getting into his stance; a larger amount of Dark Energy covered him. Dashing toward Soul to close the little distance that was left, Slader began his "HexaSlash" attack: starting off with a quick horizontal swing which Soul blocked with his doppelganger sword, he followed with a downward diagonal swing from the right which was blocked by the true Buster Sword, then one from the left which was blocked again, followed by a vertical slice that landed but he stood his ground, then two more horizontal slices from both sides. Soul was able to block one horizontal slice with his Buster Sword, however, Slader cut right through the doppelganger weapon which landed a heavy blow on Soul. This caused him to go flying a couple feet to the side. He thrusted his weapon into the ground while in the air in order for him to catch himself. Soul then looked at his side to notice a good sized wound caused from Slader's final swordstroke. The wound on his chest wasn't near as severe, however. Well.. that happened. I'm completely surprised though! He cut through my doppelganger weapon as if it was a piece of cheese!! This has never happened before! How come the darkness that he commands rivals my own?! No... he surpasses my own abilities to rule over darkness!"

Soul didn't have enough time to dodge so he decided on the next best thing. His body started to slowly become covered in an immense bright light. This light seemed to be literally covering his body until the light disbursed from his body. This created a powerful pulse of light that was enough to destroy the dark energy spheres Slader had released from his hand.

Soul looked to his side to check the wound on his side. Blood had been dripping from his wound, soaking some of this shirt. "I have to admit Slader, you got me good with those last few attacks. There's something new I should tell you though. I learned the ability to heal my own wounds." Soul was lying through his teeth. The injury taken from the last attack left him feeling a little crippled. Slader didn't have to know that. After all, why tell your opponent when you've been injured? He placed his hand on his right side, allowing his hand to become covered by light. Transferring light energy from his hand and to his side, this allowed his wound to close up. This stopped the blood from exiting his wound, however it only gave the illusion that it was healed up. "I have to keep his mind off the wound he dealt upon me. I know how to do it too."

He stuck his weapon into the ground temporarily. Soul held both his arms out as he started to slowly move them into an cross position in front of his chest. With this effort the circular wall of flames started to creep a bit closer around them. The blaze went from being a 50 ft radius to 40 ft. Slader had to have really felt the heat now. Soul couldn't help but laugh from the fact that this fight was indeed on his terms. The flames became even more intense as he allowed his aura to grow even further, becoming even more intense and powerful. Even more sparks flew around and even the ground started to tremble from his might. With the extreme heat and the power radiating from Soul, he figured he had at least a small chance of fooling Slader into thinking the wound was truly gone.

Soul couldn't waste his time with too much talk. He wrapped both his hands around the grip of the grip of his Buster Sword and pulled his weapon out. There was little point of creating another doppelganger weapon if Slader was able to cut right through them. He looked up as the skies started to become riddled with dark clouds. This event, of course, was of his own doing. Over the course of twenty seconds booms of thunder could be heard. A few seconds later Soul held his weapon up to the sky. "Father Sky, lend me your power." Soul's weapon was struck by a powerful bolt of lightning. The surge of lightning even flowed through his body. He smirked as he looked over to his friend. Soul rushed at Slader, dragging his Buster Sword through the ground and swinging his blade to throw dust and rock at his opponent to start the "Lightning Zantesuken" attack. This attack was designed to initially cause the defender to be possibly blinded from a short period of time from the start of the attack. However Soul didn't figure that kicking any sort of dust in Slader's face would work too well. He figured it was at least worth a shot in any case. He then stopped two feet in front of Slader, slashing four times. Vertical up, vertical down, horizontal left, and finally horizontal right. It didn't even matter if his opponent blocked the attack, the Lightning Charged Buster Sword would still cause at least some damage due to the fact that it would travel through Slader's Buster Sword and through his body. The only way Slader could avoid damage is if he was able to dodge the attacks, which is possible do to the fact that the sword strokes are a bit slower due to Soul's wound. Even so, the technique was an ingenious one.

He then followed up the Lightning Zantesuken attack with an after-image, quickly flipping ten feet behind Slader as he held out his hand and had his finger and thumb in the shape of a gun, pointing at his back. Light started to radiate from Soul's body and over a course of a few moments the light transferred to the tip of his finger. He was preparing for the "Big Bang Scattergun" attack, an attack that would shoot out six beams of light in a scattered formation that traveled at a good thirty miles per hour. The initial hit of the Big Bang Scattergun would be very weak, however, each beam had a chance to cause an explosion on impact which would do a heavier amount of damage. The only downside to the Big Bang Scattergun is the spread, so there was a chance that none of the beams would actually hit Slader. If that were to be the case, Soul would have to hope that the explosions would at least damage his opponent. He discharged the light energy from his finger, causing the six beams to shoot in Slader's general direction. Two energy beams were shot at the ground about a couple feet away from him, exploding and causing dust to cloud Slader's location. Soul wouldn't be able to know if the other four beams of light made their mark or not.

Soul started to pant as a few sweat drops went down his cheek, getting back into a common SOLDIER defensive position. Waiting on Slader to make his move. "I can feel myself starting to tire already. That's a problem."

Slader - January 1, 2012 09:50 AM (GMT)
The three dark energy spheres that Slader launched at Soul, flew through the air heading directly for him. Instead of attempting to out run or deflect the spheres, Soul decided to use his Light Alchemy to disperse of them. His body started to slowly become covered in an immense bright light, one that appeared to fully cover his entire body. "Ah, shit.."
The light disbursed from his body, creating a powerful pulse of light, one strong enough to easily destroy Slader's Dark Energy Spheres; as well as knocking the Dark Shroud that protected him from the heat, completely off. The intensity of the flames hit him instantly. Slader staggered from the heat that was surrounding him. His mouth was dry, his vision was getting blurry and he began to lose concentration on his opponent.
"Maybe," he thought, "Soul really has passed me on the battle field."

Rubbing his eyes, he could make out Soul in front of him."I have to admit Slader," Soul spoke out to him, "you got me good with those last few attacks. There's something new I should tell you though. I learned the ability to heal my own wounds." Slader watched as Soul placed his hand on his right side, his hand became covered in light before closing up the wound. Slader was astonished at Soul's act; he had no idea that Soul had come across the power to heal oneself. "It must come with the power of light," Slader thought to himself, panting from the heat and staring at Soul, now healed from his injury. "How can I beat some one that can heal themselves, without killing them?" Such an act was not one that Slader usually came across. It was either kill or be killed in normal circumstances, but this was no ordinary battle. It was a test of might between two Legends: SOLDIER against SOLDIER, General against General, Friend against Friend.

Although feeling crippled by the heat, Slader managed to make a few steps before he witnessed Soul, who stuck his weapon into the ground temporarily, preparing for his next move on the battle field. Holding both his arms out as he started to slowly move them into an cross position in front of his chest. Before Slader could go any further, the heat that was all around him began to intensify ten fold. The blaze went from being a fifty foot radius to forty feet. As the walls got closer, Slader fell to one knee, his sword in the ground barely kept him up. The flames became even more intense as Soul's aura grew even stronger, becoming even more intense and powerful. Even more sparks flew around him, while the ground started to quake from his powers.
"It just.. got so much worse..."

Slader's blurred vision returned, as he panted for air. The heat had become unbearable; it was slowly choking the life out of him. He knew he was going to pass out from exhaustion if he didn't do something about the flamed walls some time soon. He managed to pick himself up, shaking his head, his vision began to clear up as he got back into his stance. As he regained his concentration on the fight, he noticed the sky around him was becoming more dark. Dark clouds, filled with lightning swirled above the two Alchemists inside the ring of fire. A lightning storm had been conjured directly above the ring of fire that trapped Slader; Soul being the cause of it all, standing with his weapon aimed at the skies. Suddenly, Slader heard a crack of lightning, before a bolt came down to the earth, striking Soul's weapon: charging him with the element of electricity. As the power over the element surged through his body, Soul looked at Slader, smirking, before rushing at him. Soul's weapon dragged in the earth, tearing it asunder with it's might. Standing his ground, Slader prepared himself for Soul's imminent attack.
Within second's Soul was only slightly further than a yard in front of Slader, but before getting any closer, Soul swung his weapon that dragged in the earth forward, aiming to momentarily blind Slader with dirt and rocks. Thinking quickly, Slader blocked the earth from getting in his eyes, then still in a defensive position, managed to block Soul's first attack. The electric charge from the attack weakened his stance, allowing the second vertical attack to stagger then shock him again. Soul's two horizontal slices that followed, both made full contact on Slader. Although the attack was strong, Slader's chainmail shirt helped reduce the damage from the blows; unfortunately, it could do nothing about the electric surge that left Slader barely standing, hardly holding on to the Buster Sword with his left hand.

The electric shock received from Soul's attack was enhanced, doing extra damage, because of the perspiration on his skin, due to the extreme heat that surrounded them; the walls even closer than they were when the battle first began. His entire body burned, wanting to shut down and recover from the attack, but his will wouldn't let him. Although shaken, Slader shook his head, releasing dark energy that covered him again, looking at Soul for the first time since the attack. The darkness that surrounded him, although weaker than before, helped regain Slader's concentration once more. It only took him a moment to sense the energy being summoned behind him, and that Soul had left him looking at an after image from the attack. In the distance, Slader saw Soul pointing at him, his thumb pulled back to make his hand resemble a gun. At the tip of his finger a white energy was forming. As Soul discharged the light energy, it split into six individual beams, all homing in at him. Two of the six beams hit the ground a couple feet in front of him, causing dirt and debris to cloud the area. As two more of the beams came at Slader through the dust cloud, a strong Dark energy pulsed from his body; releasing a large amount of thick Dark Alchemy that swirled around his body. The two beams were repelled to each side, exploding on the ground causing more dust and dirt to fill the air. The last two beams came at Slader directly in front of him, cutting through the dirt in the air. The beams collided then merged together about a yard in front of him. Quickly cocking his arm back, he threw a punch enhanced with Dark Alchemy, hitting the merged beams, causing a large white and black explosion around him.

Once the explosion, from the two colliding forces, was over, the dirt started to drift away from the area, revealing Slader: cuts and scratches covered his skin, his shirt and jeans were tattered from the explosion. He remained motionless from the previous attack, standing with his arm still thrown forward. The Dark Alchemy, that swirled and covered his body completely, remained intact and as thick as it was before the explosion. He took a deep breath, before easing up and walking forward, dragging his Buster Sword in the dirt with this left hand. "You know," he called out to Soul as he walked closer towards him with a smirk, "I don't have a lot of shirts like this one." Slader stopped a couple yards in front of Soul, then throwing his baldric strap to the ground, before ripping off his tattered black sleeveless shirt. The Darkness that surrounded him was increasing, appearing to course through the openings in his short sleeve chain mail shirt. "Don't worry," Slader put his right hand on the hilt above his left, "I'll let this one slide."

Grasping the hilt of his sword tightly, Slader rushed over to Soul and swung his sword at him horizontally, then down diagonally to the right. The attacks didn't have to go through, or even make contact, it was the motion he needed to go into his next attack. The tip of his blade in the dirt from his diagonal swing, Slader spun around, dragging his sword with him. He spun around again, this time faster, enough to get the sword off the ground. Slader spun a third time, releasing Dark Energy off his body, and getting his sword high from the ground. After the fifth spin, a small cyclone of Dark Energy appeared to be forming around him from his movements. Continuing to spin, faster and faster, Slader began to lift off the ground, the cyclone growing larger in size the higher he went; releasing more and more Dark Alchemy from his body with every spin. He continued this process until he passed forty feet in the air. Slader came to a halt at the top of the Dark Cyclone, once he had over risen the flamed walls. The twister he created out of Dark Alchemy remained still, as did he at the top, residing in the center: himself no longer covered in any Darkness. Holding his Buster Sword with just his right hand, he pointed it up and looked down the center of the cyclone. Spinning the hilt on his hand, he aimed it downwards, then with a burst of might, he threw it down the center of the Dark Cyclone. Soaring downwards through the blackhole that was Slader's "Dark Finisher" Bankai , once the sword struck the ground where the attack had started, all the Dark Alchemy and Energy was forced outwards in every direction. The force and darkness of the attack smothered the flames that had surrounded the battlefield. Finally, the heat had come to an end. Slowly drifting back to the ground he looked around the scarred earth: the grass now dead, a large cloud of dirt still surrounded the area from the attack. Slader landed softly, taking his sword out of the ground, then searching the area for Soul.

The air was starting to clear up. It was getting easier for Slader to breathe; although the attack used a large amount of alchemy, the flames that were exhausting him had been extinguished from his attack. He was hoping his bankai attack had set him slightly ahead in the fight, but he stood defensively in case of an attack. His Dark Finisher wasn't intended to do significant damage to Soul, but to smother the flames around him; Slader knew Soul couldn't have been too injured from the attack. He knew that since his alchemic powers were almost completely drained, he was going to have to rely on skill for quite a while (something he was more used to). Popping his neck to the left, then to the right, his blue eyes were concealed by a pale green color, the color of mako. Triggering the SOLDIER Alchemist signature technique, Mako Eyes, his senses were enhanced thanks to an abundant amount of Jenova Cells and Mako. He may not have been able to heal himself, but he was able to help himself from getting too fatigued. Sensing Soul's presence close by, Slader kept himself in his defensive stance, anticipating Soul's next attack.

"This fight is just getting started.."

Soul couldn't help but to start laughing. After his friend was electrocuted, became extremely vulnerable to the hellfire arena, and nearly taking explosive damage from his Big Bang Scattergun attack. The last thing he thought would be on his friend's mind would be his clothing. He smirked as he looked Slader right in the eyes. "Oh Slader.", Soul paused to create an emphasis. "The last thing you honestly need to be worried about is your clothing. You worry too much about appearances." He then thought back when Soul and Slader were 1st Class SOLDIERS. There was a time where a Behemoth cut his friend's right cheek badly and it bled quite a bit. Soul began to laugh even harder as he thought about it. "My friend, this reminds me of the time when you asked me if the scratc on your right cheek would scar. Remember? From the Behemoth?" He started to regain composure as he smiled more. Soul then placed his hand onto the strap that kept the shoulder guard on his left shoulder, ripping it off as the shoulder guard fell to the ground. He then took his his top off, throwing it right into the flames as he watched it turn to ash. Soul felt on his right shoulder, letting his fingers feel onto the two inch deep and long scar. He then moved his hand and trailed his fingers up his abs, feeling at least three scars there. His fingers continued moving up all the way to his chest, feeling a three inch deep and eight inch long horizontal scar. Soul then shook his head and regained his focus. "Then again, I suppose having these kind of scars do scare attractive women away."

Slader shook his head and regained his composure, grabbing onto the hilt then managing to rush over to Soul's position. He then swung his sword at him horizontally then down diagonally to the right.Soul managed to block both attacks with his Buster Sword. With the very tip of his blade in the dirt from the diagonal swing, he began to spin around, dragging the sword with him. Soul jumped backwards out of the way. He then started to contemplate Slader's attack. So far every step of the attack was easy to parry and even defend against. Slader continued to spin faster and faster, propelling himself into the air quickly. As this was happening, he was releasing bursts of dark energies in the form of a cyclone, growing bigger as he spun faster than before. Before Soul even knew it, Slader was 40 feet in the air. Right there it hit Soul in the back of his mind. "He wasn't aiming for me!", his thought paused as he looked right up into the air. "He's going to tear the hellfire arena asunder! His friend aimed his Buster Sword downwards, with a burst of power none could comprehend, he aimed his weapon at the ground, throwing it with all his might. His weapon struck the ground, the original starting point of his attack. When the sword collided with the ground, all the dark alchemy and energy was forced outwards in every single direction. The force was far more than enough to disperse the walls of flame. Soul had the ability to use the dust and debris from Slader's massive attack to his advantage. He instead chose to not use this moment of advantage.

The dust cleared, revealing Soul's eyes were closed. His body riddled with scratches, and blood dripping on the ground. Slader's attack opened the wound that was afflicted on his side. He felt this was the time to tell his close friend something. "Slader, the weakling you knew as Soul is gone.", pausing to allow his friend a moment to let that sink into his friend's head, he continued on. "When I told i've become much different, I meant it. The Cetra awakened my body, my mind, and my true powers.", starting to snarl, he grit down on his teeth as his eyes opened widely. In a fit of pure rage, his aura grew even more. Crackling static formed around Soul as the ground started to split apart from his might. The skies growing dark once again, thunder booming and lightning striking the earth behind him. A light cold rain started. He wasn't the type to show sadness around anyone, including Slader. He couldn't take showing weakness. "Mankind took everything away from me. Destroyed my home, killed my family and friends, annihilated my race in a act of genocide and took that which was never supposed to be in mortal hands.", he yelled as the earth started to split apart even more, the ground shaking from Soul's anger. A few more lightning bolts struck the ground around him. The light rain then became a hard downpour rivaling that of a monsoon. "What made matters worse is that it was all my fault. I was a foolish child! A child who's curiosity of the outside world caused the extinction of the Braves! If only I would've listened my mentor! Soul screamed out in anger as gusts of strong wind started to pick up. Slowly he started to calm down, his aura returning to normal as the earthquakes stopped. The chilling rain continued pouring, however, as he wasn't finished talking just yet. Searching deep inside himself for his true feelings about the planet he resided on, it's inhabitants, he then continued talking once more."Slader. I have no idea if you know about the race of the Braves, so i'm going to give you a history lesson. Forgive me if you know of some of this already. I know the human race know of the Cetra. The Cetra created beings known as the Braves. The sole mission of my race was to protect the Cetra from harm. My race was separated in two different categories. The lower class Braves with little or no fighting talent acted as spies and messengers. They were to gather any information that was of any use to protect the Cetra from your young race and the threat of Jenova. Then finally there was the 13 Zodiac Braves, thirteen different bloodlines that produced the warriors and guardians to keep the Cetra safe. I however only know of one other Zodiac Brave other than myself and that is Mordecai, Guardian of Destiny. The other eleven Zodiac Braves were all killed off by Jenova and one known as Sephiroth. I am the 12th Zodiac Brave, Harbringer of Elemental Chaos. The one previous to my birth was Toukishru Alakai Blood, my Grandfather. Since the other Zodiac Braves as well as their bloodlines were killed off except for Mordecai, who was more of a tactician and was only able to see into the future in increments. To continue on with the story, my Grandfather was supposed to keep Aerith, the last of the Cetra safe. Aerith unfortunately was killed off by Sephiroth, right in front of Cloud Strife's and my Grandfather's eyes. Cloud Strife did not even know of Toukishru's existence due to him always being in the shadows. In a fit of pure rage my Grandfather went out to find Sephiroth himself to destroy the monster who put the end to the final Goddess's life. He too, unfortunately, found himself at the end of Sephiroth's blade. The last moment of his life he remembered the likeliness of Cloud Strife, setting in motion what the next 12th Zodiac Brave would look like. Now you at least have a little knowledge on who and what I really am."

Soul smirked as he started to feel better. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep the truth away from Slader. The rain stopped. "Now that i'm done boring you with the history lesson, you can go ahead and make your next move. I'm sure the rain cooled you off enough to where you might feel a little... reinvigorated." He moved into a defensive position and waited for his friend to make his move.

Slader - January 6, 2012 11:45 AM (GMT)
Although Soul's presence was close, and he had the opportunity to strike during the cloud of debris and dirt, he never did. Slader waited defensively for the cloud to clear up, when it did, he saw Soul standing in front of him with his eyes closed. His body was covered in scratches and cuts, injured from the attack, even the wound he had closed up was bleeding once more. "Huh," Slader thought to himself, "looks like Soul's healing technique requires time for the wound to heal, otherwise it'll open again."
Slader stood waiting for an attack, but Soul remained still, appearing deep in thought. After a moment, he finally spoke out, "Slader, the weakling you knew as Soul is gone."
Soul paused, allowing his statement to be considered; Slader smirked. He then continued, "When I told you I've become much different, I meant it. The Cetra awakened my body, my mind, and my true powers."
Slader's smirk faded, his words sparked a serious interest, listening to Soul more carefully. Soul began to snarl, his lower jaw tensing before his eyes opened widely. Consumed with anger and rage, he let out a burst of energy, creating a powerful aura to surround him. Crackling static formed around Soul as the earth below him started to rip apart from his might. The skies grew dark around the battlefield again, lighting bolts flickered above them, before beginning to strike at the ground behind Soul. A light cold drizzle started to fall. "Mankind took everything away from me. Destroyed my home, killed my family and friends, annihilated my race in a act of genocide and took that which was never supposed to be in mortal hands." Soul proclaimed, as the earth cracked and split apart around him even more, causing Slader to feel the tremors of his power. The lighting and rain increased heavily, creating a fierce squall on the battlefield. Lighting bolts crashed down around Soul as he spoke out again, "What made matters worse is that it was all my fault. I was a foolish child! A child who's curiosity of the outside world caused the extinction of the Braves! If only I would've listened my mentor!" Gusts of strong wind that compared to the gusts that Slader created with his bankai, blew through the area that was their dueling location.
Slowly, the storm began to cease, as Soul regained his composure. The trembling earth began to stop as his aura diminished, going back to normal. Although the worst of the storm was over, the rain continued to pour down on the two, cold, yet a refreshing break from the heat that Slader was forced to endure just minutes ago. He heard the echo of the thunder above them; never breaking his stance or his focus on Soul. The Brave Alchemist remained still, he looked eager to get something off his chest. Soul finally spoke out, "Slader," he started, "I have no idea if you know about the race of the Braves, so I'm going to give you a history lesson. Forgive me if you know of some of this already. I know the human race know of the Cetra. The Cetra created beings known as the Braves. The sole mission of my race was to protect the Cetra from harm. The last moment of his life he remembered the likeliness of Cloud Strife, setting in motion what the next 12th Zodiac Brave would look like. Now you at least have a little knowledge on who and what I really am."
Soul appeared to smirk, feeling relieved to have revealed the truth about his identity. The rain stopped and he spoke out again, "Now that I'm done boring you with the history lesson, you can go ahead and make your next move. I'm sure the rain cooled you off enough to where you might feel a little... reinvigorated." He moved into a defensive position and awaited Slader's next attack

Slader smirked, looking at Soul as he got out of his stance. "I am, thanks, but really..", holding the hilt with his left hand, leaning the blunt end of his Buster Sword on his shoulder, before pulling out his pack of cigarettes, "I could go for one of these." Setting one in his mouth, Slader put away his pack then pulled out his lighter (slightly wet from the rain storm), from his right pocket, then lit up his cigarette. Taking a long drag, looking up at the lingering dark clouds above them as he blew the smoke into the cool mountain breeze, he looked back at Soul, "The Harbinger of Elemental Chaos, huh?" He smirked again, "The Cetra's Final WEAPON indeed." He took another drag of his cigarette, smoke pouring out from his mouth as he spoke, "We aren't too different Soul..." His body still emitting a strong power of Mako, and eyes glowing brightly as he spoke, "Since you enlightened me on the Braves, I'll let you in on a little secret; I'll try not to make this take too long."
Slader let the cigarette rest between his lips as he spoke to Soul, every so often taking a drag, "As you may or may not know, Alchemy is the power of the Ancients allowed to course through the spiritual energy of selected denizens of this Planet. The people bestowed with this gift represent the power and wisdom the Cetra once held." Slader paused for a second, looking at Soul as he took the cigarette from his lips and ashed it, "Did you know during Meteorfall, over a third of the Planet was immersed in Spiritual Energy to stop Meteor from crashing down on the Planet? The majority of people that day were exposed to high levels of Mako Radiation, as well as Jenova's Cells, which flowed through the lifestream. Once the Meteor Crisis was over, many people were exposed to Geostigma, the disease brought on by Jenova's cells. But, the stigma wasn't the only after effect of Meteorfall, a few years later, when the stigma was cured, reports of a new phenomenon began to appear in some people, those people were classified as 'the Alchemists'."
Slader closed his eyes, "ShinRa's Science and Research Department had a leading scientist on the study of the Alchemists, Professor Enki. He learned that during Meteorfall, the Mako that covered the Planet, was filled with an over abundant amount of the Cetra's knowledge. It was so powerful that when it made contact with human bodies, it created a mutation in some people's genetic cellular structure, giving them the power of the Ancients." Slader paused, taking a drag, "His research was based on the natural law of how Mako becomes Materia and how we humans can use it."

Slader opened his eyes before he tossed his cigarette to the ground and stepped on the filter, "I promise, I'm getting to the end, bare with me." Looking at Soul again, he continued, "I was gifted.. or should I say cursed, with power over Darkness; something Professor Enki was very intrigued by. The year I had joined SOLDIER, the Professor was working on the "Dark Alchemy Project", an experiment where he injected contaminated Mako into recruited SOLDIERs, instead of regular Mako. If you didn't know, contaminated Mako originates from the location where Chaos was discovered by Dr. Cresent and Valentine many years ago; the mako there being tainted by the darkness that surrounded Chaos, 'Terra Curropt' were Dr. Cresent's words." He paused, looking down almost in shame, "I was the only survivor of the Project, being classified in his research files as more powerful than DeepGround's Nero the Sable, who had a similar procedure done to him before I was born. Needless to say, the contaminated Mako brought out my Alchemy abilities faster than normal, as well as enhanced my control over Darkness. After I had learned of the experiments done to me and confronted Enki, he revealed to me that one day... the Darkness would consume me, turning me into a feral, dark beast." Anger in his eyes he looked back at Soul, "I was turned in to a monster!" The memories of his fight between Enki and the former Director of SOLDIER, Locke, flashed in his mind. He had struggled to save the Planet and defeat them, only to be destined to one day wreak havoc on the world he loved.

He suppressed his anger, and pushed his hatred for the Professor back down. He sighed before he started up again, "The more I use my Alchemy, the faster I will become consumed by it. When I learned of my fate, I deserted ShinRa to join the resistance. After the fall of Ex-SOLDIER, I started my own mercenary team a year later. I thought I would be able to fight without having to use the Darkness, be able to keep it at bay. But when the Genocide War began, ShinRa found us and threatened to kill my team if I didn't aid them in the fight, possibly scarred I would side with the Factions. I didn't have a choice but to side with ShinRa again."
Slader grabbed the hilt with his other hand, getting into the common SOLDIER offensive stance once more, "Though our reasons for fighting are different, we are both forced to fight, both tools of war. You may fight because you are destined to save the Planet, and I know you will, but I fight to break the chains that bind me. I have to become the strongest Alchemist to stop this war, to gain my freedom, before I'm completely consumed by the Darkness."
Slader shook his head with his eyes closed, then smirked as he looked at Soul, "Thanks for humoring me, old friend. Now than," he said grasping his hilt tightly, "Let's get started!"

Slader, his senses enhanced from his "Mako Eyes" ability, rushed at Soul as fast as he could. The ability that SOLDIERs get from using their signature trait, the "Mako Eyes", increases the dexterity, speed and concentration of the SOLDIER in a time of need or desperation; the ability also grants the user an advanced technique, a "Limit Break" of sorts. The fight against Soul was the perfect opportunity to finally use his attack, giving him a chance to gain the upper hand in the duel.
Coming at Soul strong, Slader started off with a Cross Slash, using the same motions as before: a swing diagonally down from the right, a quick horizontal slash, followed by a diagonal swing going up from the left. Slader knew the attack, although coming in fast, would be far from enough to slow down Soul.

He jumped back a couple yards once the attack was over, aiming to avoid a swing from Soul. His eyes glowed a bright light shade of green, the physical aura around him a darker shade, he appeared to be emitting the Mako that enhanced him. "Soul," he called out to him, "let me show you my SOLDIER Pride." He smirked at Soul, releasing a regular blade beam, then followed the beam quickly from behind using the Climhazzard attack. "This time it'll be different.." The Climhazzard didn't have to make contact with Soul for Slader to finish the deadly combo that he started, he just had to break the distance. Jumping five feet into the air after he had reached Soul, still in motion from the Climhazzard, Slader came crashing down to the earth with his sword: using the Braver technique. When both of his feet were on the ground, after the Braver attack, his started up his final combo. Holding the Buster Sword with just his right hand, Slader started off the attack with a forceful cut vertically down. Quickly following the attack, he swung his sword horizontally from the left, then a diagonal cut up left, then back down diagonally right. With out a moment passing from the last attack, Slader followed by a horizontal right to left swing, then diagonally up from the left, coming down vertically again and horizontally left to right again. Slader grasped his sword with both hands for the last two attacks: he swung diagonally from the right down, then from the left down to finish off the DecaSlash (a combination of the Hexa and Cross Slash attacks).

When the attack was over, Slader staggered back, out of breath and no longer covered in Mako. His eyes slowly faded from the pale green to a green tinted blue, showing that the "Mako Eyes" state was over. Still breathing heavily, Slader stood in a defensive stance as he looked at Soul with his usual smirk, "So.. What'd you think?"

Unforgiven - January 8, 2012 08:32 AM (GMT)
"Since you enlightened me on the Braves, I'll let you in on a little secret; I'll try not to make this take too long."Slader let the cigarette rest between his lips as he spoke to Soul, every so often taking a drag, "As you may or may not know, Alchemy is the power of the Ancients allowed to course through the spiritual energy of selected denizens of this Planet. But, the stigma wasn't the only after effect of Meteorfall, a few years later, when the stigma was cured, reports of a new phenomenon began to appear in some people, those people were classified as 'the Alchemists'."

"Let me tell you something about Jenova, something that will really make your head spin."Soul paused as he took in a short breath, breathing out slowly. "Jenova was the first Brave in creation by that of the stars and space itself, originally was intended to be the leader of our race. Jenova was known as the Supreme Brave back then. However she conspired against the Cetra in belief that she would be the better Goddess. The 13 Zodiac Braves, obeying our programming, surrounded Jenova and was able to destroy her. Or that's what they were lead to believe. She clinged to life as cells, what you refer to as "Jenova Cells". Through an act of massive Genocide, she was able to kill almost all the ancients and 11 out of 13 Zodiac Braves through the use of humans that had been previously been injected by mako tainted with her cells. This left Mordecai and my Grandfather as the last surviving Zodiac Braves. As you know my Grandfather had already failed against trying to stop Jenova from killing off the last Cetra, but he already had his next of kin before dying. That and his last thought of Cloud Strife gave me birthright as the next Harbringer of Elemental Chaos." He shook his head as he closed his eyes. He was getting a bit off topic. However i've gotten a bit astray. My point is that even a man as powerful as Sephiroth himself succumbed to becoming a slave of Jenova without even knowing it. Think about this real hard Slader. What if Jenova decided to take control of your mind and body? If someone as powerful as Sephiroth himself couldn't find off Jenova's cells, do you think you can? With as many people as there are infected with the cells, she could create a near limitless army to take over this planet. However, that's neither here or there, for this time we will leave an unimaginable scar on this planet from our battle!"

Slader closed his eyes, "ShinRa's Science and Research Department had a leading scientist on the study of the Alchemists, Professor Enki. He learned that during Meteorfall, the Mako that covered the Planet, was filled with an over abundant amount of the Cetra's knowledge. Anger in his eyes he looked back at Soul, "I was turned in to a monster!"

Soul smirked as his eyes showed a hint of wicked thought. His smirk making his way as he started to laugh uncontrollably. "How cute, is that really all you're angry about? Would it calm your mind if I told you the day you become a 'Beast' or 'Monster', I will personally see to your death? Maybe that'll keep your concious from worrying about destroying everything you know and love." He stopped for a moment as he took in a small breath, clenching his fist. "You have no idea what being a Monster is like until you've actually become one. At least you weren't born into life with the only purpose of destruction and death. At least you aren't an extention of the Planet's energy, Gaia's last lifeline. Then again, I have the privelage of answering the last Goddess, and that enough sooths my very nerve." After he spoke, Soul started to look up at the sky, smiling as the wickedness in his though dissipated. "With your help, my liege, I will finally defeat Slader. I will finally have that edge over him. I will become a force to be reckoned with."

Slader had suppressed his anger, and pushed his hatred for the Professor back down. He sighed before he started up again, "The more I use my Alchemy, the faster I will become consumed by it. When I learned of my fate, I deserted ShinRa to join the resistance. After the fall of Ex-SOLDIER, I started my own mercenary team a year later. "No matter who we are, there is always a force driving us to fight. Power, Wealth, Resources, Justice, Self Gain, Revenge, Titles, Knowledge, Religious Views, Safety of Others, and of course to break free from the shackles of our pasts. At least Slader has the ability to break free from his, which i'm sure he can. I know my liege could save him from this self affliction, however.. My friend has to save himself before he can get back to being able to truly saving others. This is something he'll have to do alone." Soul thought as Slader broke the ice, shaking his head and then even smirking as he looked at him. "Thanks for humoring me, old friend. Now then," Slader said as he started to grasp his hilt tightly, "Let's get started."
