Price depends on what materials you have access to. Mine cost about $110CAD, Ben and DX made their respective APH's for much less (I think they said something like $50-$80).
As for work, you're either glueing two peices of pipe together, or screwing them together. The most time consuming part (other than waiting for the PVC Cement to dry) is making the pump. Making a good pump can take up to an hour or two, actually putting everything together is like 10 minutes. If you did your homework, though, then making the pump will take no time at all. When I make pumps, it's all trial and error to create a good seal. If you have the perfect size o-rings and dowel, making the pump will take a couple of minutes. |

The parts list page I wrote has prices: http://www.sscentral.org/homemade/aph/parts.html
Be aware that those prices are as of December 2004. Due to inflation and rising oil costs the prices will be higher today. As for how much work, what mr. dude said is correct. Read my guide completely if you want to save yourself a lot of work. I've tried to mention things that will save you time. I also have two easy working methods of making a pump on there, so you won't have to mess around. |

Yep, definately read the guide completely. I made the pump that Ben talks about in the article, gave me ~55' (as opposed to the 47' I used to get), and that's with an air leak in the PC.
