If a case comes up that needs to go to trial, you guys can determine what happens to your characters based on the crime, the circumstances surrounding it, the level of mercy or understanding that might come from the judge, etc. Because all of this stuff could reasonably factor in according to how Escovan law works, we can't give you a list of a bunch of scenarios to go by that may not really apply to your characters or say "The punishment for X will be Y".
You'd be better off- if you're not sure about what's reasonable- contacting an admin when the judicial system might directly involve a plot of yours and you want some guidance based on specific circumstances so you can work things out.
Also, if you're looking to be surprised, you could hand the judgment over to another player (player of someone who could be judging your criminal) who could be responsible for determining the punishment or whether your character's even guilty.
