Infantry Units;

Sword-Nobles are the elites of the Royal Alba Army. It's members are all recruited from the Highlander nobles, carrying on a long and proud tradition of fighting on foot. Each man wears a suit of power armour handed down from father to son, along with the fierce broad-bladed claymores. Each man also carries a single linear pistol to use when the fighting is too far away or for self defence outside of battle.

The Guards are the main home for Highlanders in the Army. Each regiment is recruited from a particular Highland county, and wear a uniform of a kilt with the tartan of their county, as well as a blue coat over the top. Each man is also issued a Glengerry for headwear.

The Foot Regiments are recruited from the Scottish lowlands and the northern counties taken from England in the war. While not as prestigious as highland units, they are still fiercely loyal to Alba, and each member is better regarded than those in the Colonial regiments. Lowland Scots wear kilts in the pattern of their regiment's tartan and a simple shirt with it, while Scots English, as they are called, wear black trouser along with a white shirt and blue tunic, as well as a shako.

The Colonial Foot regiments are recruited from the natives of the overseas and extra-Terra possessions of Alba. While discrimination is officially forbidden against those recruited from such backgrounds, many of those from Alba itself have a tendency to do so. Colonial units wear clothing appropriate to their original raising ground. (For example, colonials raised in the Sierra Leone territory would wear trousers and loose, long shirts to accommodate both the heat and the cold at night.)

Colonial Light Infantry regiments are the skirmishers of the Army. They are the only branch equipped with the expensive linear rifles, and the Crown spends a good deal of money on rifle drill for them. For the most part, they enjoy a certain prestige compared to colonial line units, as well as a reputation as hard-workers and more reliable as a result of this.

Cavalry Units;

Hussars are the main power-armour users in the Royal Alban Army. Each man wears a expensive suit of power armour to increase his speed and protection on the battlefield, as well as carrying a linear carbine and a powered sabre. They are only recruited from the upper middle class of Alba, and these only from the homeland.

Colonial Dragoons are the most common cavalry branch in the Royal Alban Army. Unlike the Hussars of the homelands, they do not wear power armour, instead wearing simple plate armour, riding horses just like their predecessors did. Colonial Dragoons ride their horses into battle before dismounting to use their linear carbines, and are often used as 'firebrigades' by commanders to plug gaps in Alban lines.

Colonial Lancers are much like their Dragoon counterparts. Again, each man wears plate armour, along with a powered lance. Colonial Lancers are deployed to breach enemy lines, and on occasion will be used as scouts, should the commanding officer have no such unit already.

Artillery Units;

Heavy Artillery regiments are composed of recruits from the highlands and the lowlands of Alba. These men are entrusted with powerful, not to mention overly-large, 12, 18, and 24-pounder linear cannons. Typically, the Heavy Artillery will only be deployed in large, set-piece battles, or in sieges.

Colonial Artillery regiments are, as the name makes obvious, recruited from the colonies of Alba. Due to an element of distrust from those from the 'Homeland', that is to say, Alba proper, these regiments are only entrusted with carrying the small 3 and 6-pounder guns. A number of these regiments will operate horse-drawn versions, acting as old-style 'horse artillery' and moving constantly to provide the support of their guns to cavalry units.
