So, I'm pretty much going crazy waiting for Punch-Out!! for the Wii to be released, almost to the same degree of how crazy I went waiting for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. So I figure while I wait for Punch-Out!! to come out (LOL), I'll talk about something I've been thinking about for a long time: Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo DS.

Let me start off by saying one thing:

SUPER SMASH BROS. DS WILL NOT BE LIKE SUPER SMASH BROS. 4!

I say this because, when you think about it, a Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo DS isn't going to be that much bigger than Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In fact, I might even go as far as to say that it will be SMALLER than Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I say that in physical terms (the Wii IS bigger than the DS, after all) and in terms of technology. Since the DS has the capabilities slightly more advanced than the Nintendo 64, I think it goes without saying that Super Smash Bros. will be slightly downgraded if it were to get an installment on the DS, i.e. it will have slightly less characters, less modes of play, etc. That doesn't necessarily mean it'll be a bad thing, some additions to Brawl seemed like a waste of space (characters, items, and stages not counted), and the DS version could have what Brawl had, without all the extra stuff.

Anyway, let me get on with this topic and say what I'd like to see out of a Super Smash Bros. game for the DS.

Graphics

So you want to see a Super Smash Bros. game for the DS, right? How do you want it to look? Some would want to see 3D models and graphics, like in the previous games, but like I said before, the DS has limitations, and trying to incorporate 3D graphics in a game, especially when people want to see as much out of it as possible, just won't seem to work. That's why I'd like to see them use sprites in this installment. Really, I think spriates look better on a portable game than 3D graphics anyway, don't you agree? Besides, I Think that would be easier. Just recycle & update some of the older sprites for some of the characters, and voila!

Characters

As far as characters go, I want to at least see the series main-stays, aka characters that have been there throughout the entire Super Smash Bros. series.

-Mario
-Link
-Kirby
-Pikachu
-Fox McCloud
-Samus Aran
-Donkey Kong
-Yoshi
-Jigglypuff
-Luigi
-Captain Falcon
-Ness

Everyone else is up in the air. While I'd LOVE to see everyone return in this installment, since they had to make cutbacks on Super Smash Bros. Melee characters, I'm going to accept as a given that there will be cutbacks for this installment as well. So, if I HAD to choose WHICH characters should stay and which should good, I'd probably want to see at least these guys stay:

-Princess Peach
-Bowser
-Wario
-Princess Zelda
-Ganondorf
-King Dedede
-Falco Lombardi
-Diddy Kong
-Lucas
-Ice Climbers
-Marth
-Mr. Game & Watch (he'll be perfect for this game)
-Pit

While I do like other characters, I think they're either be hard to render in sprites or just aren't popular/important enough to make it in the DS game. Let my just say something, though:

I LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS!

It really breaks my hard seeing a character not making the cute, or seeing people bash a character for one reason or another. But I understand that if cutbacks are necessary, than sacrifices have to be made.

Now as for new characters, I don't want to go overboard with characters, seeing as this is a DS installment, so I'll just say which one I want to see the most:

Sukapon (Skapon) from Joy Mech(a) Fight for the Famicom.

Seriously, he was one of the few characters suggested for both Super Smash Bros. Melee AND Super Smash Bros. Brawl that didn't make it! Masahiro Sakurai himself said he wouldn't be included, mostly due to his overall movement and character design would be hard to render in 3D. Well, with a game with sprites, that shouldn't be too much of a problem, right? Right!

Also, I'd like to see Little Mac playable, but let's not go too far.

As for third party characters, I don't know. Like I said before, I don't want to go overload with characters, so for now, I'll just stick with Sonic and Snake. While I would ALSO like to see Mega Man and Geno in the game, I won't get my hopes up about that.

Stages

Not much to say about this. They can go all out with whatever kind of stages they want. I'll say this, though; if they're going to use sprites, than the stages are going to be drastically less detailed which might piss some fans off. That being said, some older stages, like Mute City, Aero Port, and Isle Delfino, just wouldn't fit in well in Super Smash Bros. for the DS. If they ARE going to bring back old stages, they should go one ones that aren't as detailed, or easy to pull off on the DS. The best choices would be 75m and Mario Bros., for me at least. But then again, whenever there's a new Super Smash Bros., there are mostly new stages, rather than old ones, and as far as new stages go... Well, I'd like to see Castle Dedede, but other than that, nothing in particular I'd like to see. Surprise me with that.

Oh and stage builders? Yeah, don't care much for that. I don't really want to create my own stages, especially when there are professionals to do that for me, but again, I wouldn't care if they included it or not.

Items

First and foremost, I want Smash Balls, Assist Trophies, and Poké Balls to stay. Poké Balls have beena main-stay ever since the first game, and Assist Trophies were the best idea since Poké Balls to include characters/Pokémon that sadly weren't included as playable characters. As for Smash Balls, the idea of the Smash Ball goes all the way back to the first game, and I think that if Sakurai had wanted it for that long, I think it should continue to be in the series as long as he wants it to be. Other than those three, I'm flexible with which items stay or go. I also don't really care to see what new ideas they'd come up with. The main ideas I wanted to see in the game were the Deku Nut and the Lightening Bolt, and they included those two in Brawl. So... Yeah, again, surprise me!

Music

Music has always been a big part in the Super Smash Bros. series, and Brawl only intensified how important it was. The fact that you had the chance to suggest the music you wanted to hear in the game is a testament to that. So, that said, I think they should keep the My Music feature in the DS installment, and even collect CDs, too. Here are some of the tunes I'd like to hear in this game:

-Super Mario Bros. theme (of course)
-Donkey Kong theme (original arcade theme)
-Something from Super Mario Galaxy
-Wario Land music, especially that one theme from Shake It (you know which)
-The Legend of Zelda theme, obviously
-Overworld theme from Link's Awakening
-King Dedede's theme, duh
-Spring Breeze, aka Green Greens
-Kento Gym battle theme, from Pokémon
-Corneria, from Star Fox
-Ridley boss battle, from Metroid
-Big Blue, from F-Zero
-Pollyana, Onett, and the New Age Retro Hippie music from the EarthBound series.
-Beware the Forest Mushrooms!, aka Geno's Maze from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
-Tetris theme A

Yeah, those are the major ones I'd like to hear. There are probably some other tunes I'd like to hear as well, but for now, I'm fine with these.

Modes

Now for the big part, modes. Naturally, since Brawl is mostly a multiplayer game, the multiplayer should remain like it did in Brawl, with the exception of the Rotation option. It's just a stupid addition and I've never seen anyone use it. As for the single player mode, here's what I'd like to see out of it:

-Classic mode, naturally
-All-Star Mode
-Event Matches
-Stadium (with Break the targets, Home-Run contest, Multi-man, Training, etc.)
-Another Adventure mode
-return of Break the Targets, Board the Platforms, and Race to the Finish.

I think all of these options should speak for themselves, but about the Adventure mode, let me say a few things. I though the Adventure mod in Brawl, the Subspace Emissary, was a nice addition, though many people complained about it. I think this time around, they should make sure that things make a little more sense in the cutscenes, and try to add a bit more detail than last time. Also, while the main playing mode is sprites, the cutscenes themselves should be rendered in 3D. After all, that's what they did in Final Fantasy III for the DS, right?

There will also be an options and records mode, to adjust the settings and check information on who do you play as most often and that sort of stuff, just like the last three games. I also think both trophies and stickers should return. Trophies, I believe, are a mainstay in the series, and they help people learn more about Nintendo characters and their respective franchises. And stickers, well, I think that with the touch screen and all, it should be an interesting idea to incorporate that in making sticker art. Which brings me to my final issue...

Gameplay

I think that it doesn't really need to be said, but just in case there are some people out there who think differently, let me just say:

LEAVE THE TOUCH SCREEN OUT OF MAIN GAMEPLAY!!

By that I mean, don't try to use the touch screen in fighting matches. When you're fighting, I dont' want to have to rely on poking or slashing across the touch screen and risk ruining it when there are buttons to be mashed! It's like with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, they didn't bother to add any Wii Remote flailing (with that one exception which I'm not going to talk about), so neither should they with the DS! Sure, you can use the touch screen here and there, but when it comes to actually fighting and playing the game, just stay away!

Conclusion

Wow, this was longer than I thought... If any of you actually read all this to this point, let me just say:

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, AND CONGRATULATIONS!!

...Unless you actually skipped all that to see if I'd make a brief summary of all of that here, in which case: HA! You wish! But seriously, thanks for listening to my opinions on this subject. I'll be sure to read whatever anyone else thinks should be in Super Smash Bros. DS in return. Also, nothing too big, but if you DO want to see a Super Smash Bros. game for the Nintendo DS, please join this FaceBook group:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.ph...0816&ref=mf

It'll show others just how many people want this idea to become a reality. Plus you can talk about what you want to see in the game with even more people!

So, yeah, go ahead and contemplate, brainstorm, say what's on your mind about this idea. And most importantly, would you like to see Super Smash Bros. on the DS?
