I still need to pick up throttle, I have Joy Ride but haven't been bored enough to watch it in a long time.

i like Black Dog. Swayze is not the best actor but the driving and crash scenes are great. also like like Black Top with Meat Loaf, he plays a great nut bag psycho in both movies. i absolutely hate the Smokey & the Bandit movies but i never miss them when they are on. they are like a car wreck, you just have to
look. although Gleason was BRILLIANT! Maximum Overdrive & the remake Trucks were entertaining, but nothing to rave about. They drive by night with Bogart is a great movie. Convoy is ok, but it kinda falls into the same catagory as smokey & the bandit. the characters are just too comical. -------------------- I will not be pushed,

I also like Black Dog, I should watch that next. I've been searching for Blacktop though, since I've never seen it. I have to respectfully disagree about Smokey And The Bandit though, going by my username I have to

yeah i was kinda rough, jerry reed was great as the Snowman, & you gotta love fred
just dont like burt reynolds. i dont mind truckers as psychotic killers but the toothless lame brain ignorant southern good ole boy image truckers are portrayed as really pisses me off. i cant tell you how many times i've met someone and told them that i'm a trucker & they say "gee you dont look like a truck driver". the general public has this impression that we are all pill popping dirty fat red neck hillbillies. and i think it's due to the portrayal of truckers in movies like smokey & convoy.it would be nice if driving truck would have the "knights of the highway" image it once had. dont know if that will ever happen -------------------- I will not be pushed,

it's not really "Duel" related other than a trucker is involved, but just watched a pretty decent short film i got yesterday. It's called "Pick me up". description from dvd case is:
On a desolate stretch of mountain road, 2 urban myths collide in 1 night of chilling carnage - Wheeler(Michael Moriarty of "Law & Order") is a friendly trucker who enjoys slaughtering hitchhikers; Walker(Warren Kole) is a charming hitchhiker who prefers to butcher anyone who gives him a ride. Caught in the dueling psycho's depraved game of cat & mouse, Stacia(Fairuza Balk of "The Craft")must find a way to outwit Wheeler & Walker before it's too late. But is the most horrific twist of all yet to come? written by David J. Schow(The Crow, Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Beginning) directed by Larry Cohen. it's only 58 minutes long. there is limited scenes with the truck, but a GOOD one near the end when it jackknives & flips. it's twisted & entertaining & worth a watch. -------------------- I will not be pushed,

I rented Torque just to see the brief appearance by the surviving Duel truck (and a red valiant).
rubbish film.....although the commentary is funny when one of the actors jokes about 2 weeks of motorbike riding training and 10 minutes acting lessons for the film.. there's an episode of Mr Bean where he waits in his mini in a darkened car park, and when the reliant robin appears he switches on his lights (like the duel truck in the tunnel) and charges at it, forcing it back out. |

I finally saw Throttle. Not as bad as I thought it would be, only a few seconds of Valiant though.

I used to watch that. If I remember correctly, the main truck had disc wheels most of the film, but spoked wheels at the end. EDIT: I just watched Maximum Overdrive on youtube. I like it better. -------------------- |
