What other Duel related movies have you seen? What ones did you like the most and why?

I think Breakdown was one of my favorites, although its not the same plot idea as Duel. I like the little links in there, such as Kurt's clothing and the red Plymouth they were driving.

The best Duel style movie in my opinion though has to be Roadkill (joyride (u.s)). Its a brilliant movie! Great scary sequences and brilliant stunts. Not quite as realistic as Duel, but a worthy copycat in my opinion!

I saw Joyride. It was okay. Won't plan on seeing it again. I enjoyed Breakdown, as I am a Kurt Russell fan.

Did anyone see "TRUCKS"? It's pretty corny, and takes off of Max. Overdrive. Just a whole lot worse, as I like Max. Overdrive. It also leaves you hanging when the end shot shows them being rescued by a helicopter and the final shot is NO pilot! blink.gif

Ah yes, Trucks. Ive got that on DVD. Very cheesey indeed, but its still well made. I like how they did the blind driving in the trucks, you can hardly tell how its done!

Its a shame it didnt have a higher budget when it was made. If it had the right director and cast, it could have been killer.

The movie "Johnson family vacation" has a Duel scene. They are driving along and a black Pete cuts them off and won't let em pass.

Eventully they pass and the driver of the car flips the truck off. Then the truck runs them off the road and they spin out in a dirt lot.

Sound familiar?

BTW :George Sack has the black Pete from this movie right in front of his office.

Ive been meaning to catch that movie for a while.

Im a fan of Chevy Chases Vacation movies, and this is meant to be based on the first one.

Sounds pretty cool.

I picked up "Breaker! Breaker!" Last night @ Wallmart. Lots of old trucks in this movie. One narrow hood Pete has a huge wheelbase too. tongue.gif

At "maximum -overdrive" there is that old bad wrecker, which is rilly bad. The one, who has killed the people at the old gas station, and has a messed up starter, which makes a very frightening noise!

Another way cool wrecker is in the movie "Deliverance" with Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty

Love also "Spider Mikes" Autocar (I think) in "Convoy.....

another “duelish" movie is "The California Kid" with Martin Sheen. The TRuck role is here taken by a mean '57 Plymouth Belvedere Coupe Cop Car. The driver is psychotic Sheriff Vic Morrow.
The other dueller is a 34 Ford 3 Window Coupe hot Rod.

cool movie!

In the movie Christmas Vacation (with Chevy Chase) the Griswold's get tailgated by a dirty, brownish Peterbilt logging truck with black smoke coming from the stacks. Their car ends up driving along the highway under the log trailer. This movie is hilarious. Tim.

The Chevy Chase vacation movies are excellent, that whole 'going to get the xmas tree' scene is one of the best ever!

Speaking of Duelish movies, has anyone here seen Throttle or The Trip? They're supposed to be duel based. huh.gif

Throttle is excellent, The Trip sucks big time.

I went through a phase of buying nearly every Duel style road movie i could find, there are loads of low budget ones outthere... Road rage (there are two movies called road rage, one is ok, the other is awful. They are not connected atall) Highwaymen, The trip just to name a few were pretty darn bad.

Throttle is the most similar to Duel out of all the movies ive seen, closely followed by Joyride. Breakdown is great, and i like The Hitcher 2 truck scenes too. cool.gif
