IRC along with forums are the key ways that the DoWpro:SS community meet....yet some people aren't sure of how to get IRC working which is a real shame.

IRC for now is the best way to find other dowpro players so dont hesitate to use IRC its easy! There's always loads of crazy chat and it's the best way to arrange games.

Where i can find and download IRC Programs?

There are many program for IRC such like chatzilla, mirc or many messengers like miranda or gaim have IRC support. but i'll only cover mIRC because it's so commonly used.

Ok. but where i can download it?!

uhm.. --> HERE biggrin.gif

and now?

install it in the given or whatever folder you want and then proceed to the next step

run mIRC
press "Alt + O" as in o for orange
type in a full name, nick name and email address
press the little flower button
in the irc server dropdown menu select one of the quakenet servers
hit the "connect to server" button
mirc will then connect to the server and a join channel popup will come up
type "#dowpro" in this popup and click "join"
a dowpro channel window will come up.......

and you can bathe in the delightful banter of fine gentlemen xD

Lots of communities - including mods for games, fans of games/movies/entertainment, and many other hobbies/forums - use IRC.

IRC is a great investment for little effort, and it's free. The whole DoWpro community uses it, and I personally use it to interact with many other communities. It's small, uses up no processing power, and couldn't be easier to use. (I often wish MSN gave the same freedom.)

There's really no harm in giving it a try.

I think i've asked this 200 times, but, well...

Is there a free IRC client, that supports a "message beep"?
- A sound that indicates new messages on the client?

Currently, the IRC i use only gives off a sound on file transfers. Nothing more.

Not sure about the one bundled with DoWpro......might be in the settings. I use mIRC personally.

mIRC will provide a message ping as long as it is not the active window IIRC.
