Write here what one of your favorite band/singer is, and why you love them so much.
One of my all-time favorites is Gorillaz. I love them because they combine all kinds of musical styles (rock, country, hip-hop, rap, techno and zombie movies to name a few) into one awesome song or album. Also, the raps done by guest stars in the songs are ON TOPIC with the rest of the song and don't talk about "gettin' down with my shorty" or any BS like that (excluding Feel Good Inc., I don't like the rap in that song). Not to mention, this is all basically conducted by one guy, who founded, writes songs, plays piano and sings for the band. The amazing...*drumroll*...Damon Albarn! He also has two other bands (although one is on hiatus): Blur and The Good, The Bad and the Queen. In the 90's, Blur was even in a major rivalry with Oasis in the U.K.! This dude obviously has some musical talent. And the cartoon band members! They're so cool! These aren't your run-of-the-mill cartoon characters. Each of their personalities are severely warped until it's darkly funny (the guitarist, Noodle, was Fed-exed to England from Japan?! The bassist, Murdoc, is a Satan-worshipper?! Their recording studio has a entrance to the underworld in the basement?!?). Although, Mr. Albarn did admit to being drunk when he created the band, so maybe that's not so weird after all... Either way, Gorillaz is still one of my favorite bands! -------------------- ![]() |

I like every band named so far, except Within Temptation and Eels, 'cause I don't know them. XD
Gorillaz were good enough for my band to cover Feel Good Inc. Three Days Grace has awesome dymanics. Black Mages just rule for taking the "nerd" out of "video games". I personally find myself listening to artists rather than bands themselves. John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan. . . they're by biggest influences as a musician, as well as Naoki Jo, Tommy Emmanuel, SANTANA. . . But if you want to count bands, I love The Chucky Danger Band and Maroon 5 for musical diversity and overall skill level. CDB has an INCREDIBLE guitarist, and Maroon 5's songs are catchy. And the Black Eyed Peas for coolness. . . Matchbox Twenty, The John Mayer Trio (if you count it as a band; I do). . . NEW FOUND GLORY for awesome punk rockèd-ness. Uh. . . my band. . . XD -------------------- |

I'm surprised this didn't come up before.
My favorites? For plain artists, I'd have to say John Mayer. Awesome guitarist with very meaningful lyrics. Then there's Jimi Hendrix, who is self-explanatory. But if you want actual bands, then I have quite a few. There's the Chucky Danger Band, which I heard from CL here (I think?), Muse, Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie. . . All of these guys are SO unique, and SO skilled at what they play. If I had to pick one, though, it'd be CDB, followed by Muse close in second. And I also find myself listening to bands such as The Mars Volta (experimental), A Perfect Circle (alternative metal), THE BEATLES (Pop/Rock), The Postal Service (indie electronic), Sufjan Stevens (folk, indie rock, experimental) and Matt Mays (Indie rock/folk rock) quite often. -------------------- ![]()

Our drummer actually wants me to listen to some Tool songs. O__o
Yeah. CDB came to Vancouver and we got the concert for free, got autographs and CDs and whatnot, and then I told everyone. XD Their guitarist can do backwards solos, which rule. I need to work on those. . . (For those of you who are curious as to what a backwards solo is. . . http://youtube.com/watch?v=qEexYvoa3Jc At about 2:00. Watch the whole thing, though.) @ Ralm - I love Muse and Mars Volta! In fact, I'm listening to Absolution as we type.
@ Choji - You're in a band?! Can you send a link or post any of your songs? -------------------- ![]() |

I'll upload some stuff on YouTube after we master a few more songs. My dream for this summer is to get a few gigs. One of them will hopefully get recorded; there you'll hear our songs What It Is, Colorblind, Who Is There, Snow, The Tide. . .
And plus I'll be performing solo acoustic at local coffee shops and such. Some solo acoustic stuff will be uploaded on YouTube soon. -------------------- |

You should. Danny Carey is one of the best drummers in the world. Seriously. Here's a few drum solos I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRpOR02Vn24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxinb4BdeiI...related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKidSVPGLFE Tool still has some cool stuff I listen to. Their lyrics are all about symbolism, and many of their songs give me deja vu (usually something to do with sunsets O_o). Not to mention that their album artist is THE best artist I've ever seen. . . And the image of you playing at a Starbucks makes me laugh. XD @A_U: Yeah, ever notice that quite a few of Muse's songs follow the same pattern? Matt's high voice only makes it more noticeable, too. XD Right now I'm listening to Showbiz. Oh, and new peoples I listen to: The Yoshida Brothers. Seriously, these guys rock. They gave me a whole new perspective on J-rock (even though it's not really J-rock). This post has been edited by Ralm on Apr 5 2007, 12:08 PM -------------------- ![]()

I'm adding Evanescence to my band list, good group, a little dark but their music is still awesome (loves the piano).
