.personality: Nick is a friendly, lovable dork. There's just no way around it. He gets really attached to people really quick, which ultimately leads to his complete and utter heartbreak every time his family moves. He loves laughing and making other people laugh, because life is too short to be serious all the time. But when something is wrong with his friends, he sobers up until they are feeling better.

He's also quite the charmer, having learned from an early age that women and men alike turned to goo when he flashed his pearly whites at him. This has gotten him out of several sticky situations and helped him woo many a date.

Given his parents high standards for him, he manages to make As and Bs in his classes, even though he seems to be doodling in his notebook the entire time instead of taking notes. He knows his education is important to his parents, so he does actually put a lot of effort into his studies- he just tries to find fun and creative ways to do it.

.history: The Ward family has never stayed in one place for more than three years at a time, due to Nick's dad feeling the need to constantly move "for inspiration". Ah, the joys of having a flighty author for a dad, right? His mom defends these constant moves, saying that it's great her boys are getting to see so much of the world! But, while living in Germany and half of the continental states leaves him with cool trivia for when he meets new people, nick just wants his family to settle into a permanent home, so he can have permanent friends. Sure, his pals in all the other places he lived said they'd stay in touch, but they all moved on within a year or two. Not cool.

Nick's hoping now that his dad has moved them out to Westerville, Ohio, they'll at least stay long enough to let him finish his high school career. If they made him move AGAIN before he graduated...

Moving on, Nick discovered he was... different at age 13. That was when he realized that "Hey, wait, you mean it's not normal to like boys? Oh, and I also have powers that's cool too." Between exploring his sexuality by timidly kissing guys behind the bleachers and 'talking' to and manipulating plants, nick had a pleasant distraction from all the moving he did in the time from 13 to 15.

But last year was different. Last year, when they lived in Michigan, Nick had had a boyfriend, Steve. It was cute puppy love and Steve promised they'd be together forever and always. Forever and always lasted until Nick told Steve he was moving and Nick found Steve holding hands with Billy from down the block. They had been together 10 months! TEN! And Steve dumped him because "long distance relationships never worked out". Nick was heartbroken for a couple weeks, and it ultimately made this move easier for him.

He was cheered up, however, that his parents were sending him to Dalton Academy. For boys. He knew that not all the guys there would be gay/bi/omnisexual, but, hey, he had a better chance at moving on from Steve being surrounded by guys all the time. When his parents stressed the importance of studying, he had just rolled his eyes and assured them he wouldn't let his grades slip. But just because he had to keep his grades up didn't mean he couldn't have fun while he was there, right?

.rp sample: The worst part about this move was that he was transferring in several weeks into classes. The head master had told his parents that, given Nick's academic record, he shouldn't have any trouble catching up, and the excellent tutoring programs offered at Dalton would guarantee his academic success. Nick wasn't really worried about catching up; it would take that long assuming the school had even remotely the same material as the last one he attended. He was just worried about making friends. By this point, everyone already had their little cliques and posses and he just wasn't sure where he would fit in. And what if his roommate didn't like him? Good god, that would be awful.

He was also excited to hear that Dalton had an active and thriving Glee club. He was thrilled at the idea of joining the group and being able to let loose and have fun in a group setting. He wasn't the best dancer in the world, but he could sing well, so he was sure he could make it~ Well, if they allowed him to audition this late in the semester. It would suck hardcore if they didn't.

Ah, well. No need worrying about that now. Right now, he only had to worry about what to pack and take with him. Tomorrow would be a brand new day at a brand new school and potential brand new friends. He had to stay positive about this!

"You ready for tomorrow, bud?" His dad asked, popping into Nick's room after giving a quick knock.

"Dad, am I ever not ready for anything?" Nick grinned up at him as he shoved a couple extra shirts in his bag. Dalton required uniforms, but he had to look stylish and cool on the weekends, right?

"Well, there was that time in San Diego... with the zoo trip..." His dad teased.

"I was eight, dad. How can an eight year old be ready for falling into the otter exhibit?"
