Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in any case, the made - up things seem a good deal more important then the real ones.

“Now entering Corin, Son of King Lune, Prince of Archenland.”

The blond boy looked over his shoulder at the guards who announced him when he rushed into the castle. He supposed they had to do that every time. It wasn’t that Corin didn’t like hearing his name being said out loud every time he entered a room. He liked it very much actually. But he didn’t want to be announced right now. That totally blew his cover. He supposed if they didn’t know who he was they wouldn’t have said anything. Then again, he was sure if they didn’t know who he was they would have stopped him. Which totally would have blown his cover as well. But there was nothing he could do about it now.

Corin stopped in the middle of the entrance and looked around waving at a few people who greeted him. He was just trying to keep a low profile. He was racing the rest of his camp here, and he totally won. Of course he was probably going to get in trouble for going off on his own, again. But come on, they were in Narnia, what was the worse that could happen? Narnia was one of the most peaceful places he could think of.

He ran his hand through his hair and looked around for one of the Kings or Queens not seeing anyone. Well geez, what a nice welcome party they all were. Usually they were there really fast, if they had heard. But they were probably doing something important. If he remembered right, they were probably in having council which he could so be in on. But he couldn’t just barge in. So Corin took a seat on the staircase and waited for it to end. It should be soon he thought. It wasn’t like it was really early. Didn’t they start that in the morning? Unless a lot of people were having a lot of problems they should be out soon... he hoped.

Corin rested his elbow against his knee and leaned against it sighing slightly. Bored. So Bored. He began fighting again and looked around for someone he knew. Come on, meeting! Be over already! He leaned back and pouted. Maybe he should have went with the rest of his camp. At least then he’d be with Cor or someone that that would be so much less boring. He Stood up and looked around absently. Trying to look as if he actually had something to do there. But then again, he was sure that the people walking past him knew him to well to believe that.

He wanted to get away, far away from the Court as possible. He still couldn’t stand sitting around for so long. He got it, people had problems. But some of their problems were just really not that big of a deal and they didn’t have to stand there for five years telling them about it. He would give those people props for bsing so much though. It kind of made him smile. But when he looked over and saw that even Peter looked like he was about to nod off then that was saying something.

Honestly the only person he thought was paying attention was Susan. Or at least she was making a good show of staying alert. Either way, he didn’t do such a good job.

Of course Edmund didn’t exactly fall asleep but he basically went off into his own little Edmund land. And now that, that nightmare was over he could go do something that was a lot less boring and a lot more active. That was probably why he hated court so much. He couldn’t stand sitting around for so long, sure he was great with listening to people and their problems. But sometimes he just couldn’t handle things as mundane as weather or not the dirt around the rabbit’s holes were good for growing apple trees.

He didn’t care. But Edmund was good enough not to say that out loud. What kind of King would he be if that happened? Anyway it was good that Susan had paid attention so she could handle the matter. He was off to find something else to do.

And it didn’t take him that long to find it. He wasn’t even out of the castle before he found it either. He came across a blonde boy 2 years younger then him and smiled faintly. Ah, when Prince Corin was around things were always a lot more interesting. And yes, he knew it was Corin because he didn’t think that Cor really felt comfortable enough to just sit down on the stairs at Cair Paravel, at least not yet. The boy basically just met them all a few months ago.

Edmund walked up behind Corin and looked down at him. “Prince, What are you doing here? Where is the rest of your group? You didn’t sneak off again?” Honestly, as much as the boy snuck off you would think His father would have him under constant guard. Not that Edmund thought that would help much. He was pretty sneaky...

He knew, Corin reminded Edmund a lot of himself.

Corin looked around after a moment then smiled up at Edmund waving to him slightly. Though by the look on his face he did kind of seem like he wasn’t in such a good mood. He could do something about that for Edmund though. Corin stood up and raised his eyebrows as Edmund accused him of sneaking away. Which of course was true, though not very nice, obviously. “Nice to see you too King Edmund.” He said and shook his head slightly.

“What is this? Accusing me of sneaking off.” The young Prince shook his head slightly and let out a sigh. “It’s like you don’t know me at all.” Or the other way around. But he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders looking around to make sure that none of his guard had shown up yet. That would be the biggest buzz kill there ever was. Corin motioned with his hand and lead Edmund down the stairs glancing around kind of as if he expected someone to show up. Cor, or Aravis or something to scold him. By the way those two acted you would think that they had been in the Court for the whole of their lives.

Letting out a small sigh Corin grinned. “Actually I did sneak off. It wasn’t like we were that far from Cair Paravel. I’m sure they’ll show up to rain on my parade any moment now.” He rubbed the back of his neck and laughed to himself. He hated being held down. Yeah, yeah, it was for his own protection, whatever. He could handle himself, thanks to the King in front of him. Although it wasn’t like his father wasn’t thrilled to find out his son was pretty good with a sword.

His father was like a much older version of himself, he knew where he was coming from. But that whole wise, maturity thing he had going on was just not fun. He didn’t need to be told what to do. He was Prince Corin... ok, maybe he was just a young teen, but still. “How has your day been King Edmund? Just getting out of council? You look like you had a right old time in there.” He said and smirked at his friend.

Speaking of people who Corin related to. He knew Edmund was a bit darker version of himself, which was why the two males got along so well.

Edmund couldn’t help but roll his eyes at Corin’s words but smile all the same. Sarcasm kind or worked for the kid, even though somehow it seemed to be in the wrong place. Somehow even sarcasm seemed to dark for Corin. He was such a happy guy and sarcasm kind of was always associated with a dark since of humor. But who was to say what wasn’t supposed to work.

Fallowing the younger boy as they started down the stairs and apparently just walking around with no place to go Edmund nodded his head slightly and grinned. If he had a family like Corin’s he would have been so grateful. They were so lenient with him. “You’re lucky Prince Corin; you have no idea how easy you have it. If I were lucky enough to just get off with a scolding I would have taken off so much more often. But I was put under house arrest.” He shook his head and sighed. Really, you would think Susan didn’t think he was able to handle himself.

Though being older Edmund could go out whenever he wanted. So that was always a good thing. Or not whatever he wanted, but he could do a lot more then he used to be able to. It came with becoming older. Eventually Corin would get to do whatever as well.

But Edmund was aware he lacked the patients to even be told that. Raising his eyebrows Edmund shrugged his shoulders and looked around. “My day has been dull, to be honest. Later I believe me and Queen Lucy are supposed to go out and check something with the rabbits. Something might come from that, hopefully. But nothing interesting was said in Council today. Honestly I don’t know why we have them every week. Sometimes I think people just come to say something to hear themselves speak.”

He let out a small inaudible sigh and shook his head. “Not that I don’t care about every living thing in Narnia. But sometimes, it does get to be just a little much. At least for me...” He wasn’t a fan of sitting around and not doing anything. And when Council droned on for hours he wanted to back his head against the table to give himself something to do.
