Suppose we have only dreamed, or made up, all those things - trees and grass and sun and moon and stars. Suppose we have. Then all I can say is that, in any case, the made - up things seem a good deal more important then the real ones.

There were a few things that you could say about Edmund if you want to.
He was a little stubborn, just a tad. He was overly sarcastic sometimes. He wasn’t always as mature as he would like people to think. He wasn’t a morning person.
And that last thing was the one that really mattered the most at that very moment. You would think, being King, he would get to get up whenever he wanted. But that wasn’t true. He could go to sleep whenever he wanted to. At least now he could, now that Susan and Peter didn’t bother him about it so much.
But it was pretty much not optional when he got up. Not because anyone really went to wake him up, but more like, he felt like he needed to. He hadn’t ever stayed in bed long enough to get woken up by anyone. His internal clock seemed to want to get him up at the crack of dawn every day. And Edmund had always been one of those people who couldn’t go back to sleep once he was awake. Which was to bad for him. Especially since he was usually one of the first ones awake.
He wondered if people thought he liked mornings. Edmund knew they knew he liked night. But he wondered sometimes if they thought he was a morning person. Well, if they had ever interacted with him in the morning they probably could figure it out. And yes, interact, not talk. He didn’t talk until a certain time in the morning. So usually that was when he was told things he would normally react to but just couldn’t. Members of his family, and friends took advantage of that.
The young King headed down the stairs passing a few people on the way who greeted him. He just nodded in greeting and kept walking. Maybe not the most polite thing, but they probably wouldn’t hold it against him.
Finally making it to the kitchen he sat down at the small table in the corner and rested his head on his hand. After what seemed like a second there was a plate of food in front of him and Edmund stared at it wondering if he had nodded off. Or maybe he was just dreaming it. He picked up the fork and started eating the eggs, figuring he wasn’t dreaming it. Or it was the most realistic dream he had ever had. But thinking that he was asleep was kind of wishful thinking on his part.
He knew better then that.

Lucy was never the most crabby person there was. In fact you probably would never be able to use the word crabby to describe her. But she came sort of close in the morning. Well, in the early morning. Which was bad because she always got up early. She thought it wouldn’t be very becoming of someone to sleep in all day. And she always felt really rotten when she did. Of course that wasn’t counting the time she was sick and had to stay in bed all day because her siblings wouldn’t let her get up. Really, they might as well just lock her in her room for as bossy as they were when that happened.
But it was for the best, she got that. Anyway, she wasn’t sick today, so of course she got up around the time she usually did. You probably never noticed but when you got up at the same time every day your body kept getting you up at that time. People rarely noticed. But eventually she didn’t think you would even need a clock to tell you the time.
After getting dressed and washing, Lucy headed down towards the main floor of the castle. Usually when she got up she didn’t notice that a lot of people seemed to be up and working already. Right now she did though. Because she got stopped about five times by someone passing her and wishing her a good morning. Being the polite person she was she had to stop and greet them too. She hardly noticed she was doing this though. Not that she didn’t appreciate everyone who worked at Cair Paravel, but this early in the morning was just... to early for her to realize much of anything that she was doing.
Lucy glanced out a window as she passed it seeing the sun just now rising and sighed. Her sigh turned into a yawn as she covered her mouth and headed into the kitchen. She saw a few people in there too starting breakfast and then she noticed Edmund up as well. She smiled faintly and walked over to the small table sitting down across from him. “Good morning Ed.” She said in a slightly overly quiet voice and looked around as a plate was sat in front of her.
“Thank you.” she said looking around for whoever put the plate in front of her but not knowing exactly who it was. Lucy shrugged her shoulders and began eating her toast. It was just a few minutes before she was feeling at least a bit more awake and smiled more at Edmund. “How did you sleep last night, Ed? Good I hope.” She asked only slightly curious. Again, it was more the polite thing. Though she didn’t think Edmund would really want to make small talk with her at this hour. Later on perhaps. But the big difference between then and now was that then was in a few hours. And now was, well now...
But she didn’t really care when Edmund wanted to talk to her. Talking at him was just as good as talking to him was. At least at this time.

Edmund looked around as someone else walked into the kitchen. His eyes landed on his younger sister and he nodded slightly. At least she wasn’t really as bad as the other two in the morning. Who seemed to be able to talk and talk no matter what time it was. Not that Lucy was the quietest person around any time of the day, but she was a lot better then Susan, or Peter who seemed to feel the need to start talking about things Edmund would need to think about.
Thinking was not his forte this early in the morning.
“Morning Lu,” Edmund said picking up his glass and taking a drink from it glancing into it afterwards to see what it actually was. It was orange. Must be Orange juice. You would think since he just took a drink he would know that. But it just didn’t work like that. You had no idea how out of it he was this early.
He wasn’t sure why he even got out of bed. Because he couldn’t get back to sleep. And he hated sitting still no matter how tired he was. Which was why he went to bed so late. If he were to go to sleep early then he would have to lay there for who knows how long and that would just be annoying. He stayed up until he was sure he was going to go to sleep right away.
Looking back at Lucy as she began to make small talk he let out a small groan. Edmund just nodded his head apparently figuring that was good enough of an answer. Luckily for him Lucy always answered her own questions even if they were ones she really couldn’t. She always added something like “Good” or “Right” or something like that. At least when she was talking to him. He wasn’t sure if he did that to everyone else. Sometimes he really thought she got on his nerves just because she thought it was funny. Payback maybe...
There were a few moments where he drank the rest of his juice then looked at Lucy. “I slept fine.” He finally said. “What about you?” He asked a tiny hint of a cold smile crossing his face. He really didn’t care. Not that the moment.
But it was just polite... And even when they were just with each other being polite and genial seemed like something Kings and Queens should do. That being said it did kind of make him wonder why they were so lacks on calling each other Queen Lucy or King Edmund (and so on and so forth) when there was no one else around. Probably because they were just used to calling each other by their names. He didn’t know. All of that seemed to contradict itself and not make since.
But at this time of day not much made since.

Ah, mornings. Peter always had a problem with mornings really. Sometimes he was fine with them and other times like now...not so much. He was half asleep as he couldn't seem to have gotten any the night before. Something kept him awake. He didn't know what and it bothered him. His mind just kept going, thinking about important things. Sometimes he was so unsure of whether he should even BE allowed in Narnia still let alone actually ruling such a vast and beautiful kingdom. HE felt he couldn't possibly even see the whole country like he wanted to desparately. He had been talking around the court to see if he could do such a thing. but now he was thinking of something else when his stomach and his yawn both reminded him of what hour it was.
Breakfast. He descended the stairs still yawning and he knew he looked a complete mess, robe all messy and his hair a complete shaggy beast on top of his head. Or at least an excuse for a beast anyway the way it was beginning to fall back into place.
He wandered into the kitchen, glad for the normal good food they got. As usual he smelled something wonderful and smiled. But before he got to any actual food he saw his brother and sister. He wondered where Susan must be. Not very likely that she was still asleep. She was more the active morning person than he was, even though it sickened him to think being nice in the morning was even possible.
"Hullo Ed. Lu." He smiled, waving a little and hoping they would ignore the mess he looked currently. He hadn't even bothered to really clean up anyway. it was just them, wasn't it? And perhaps he would really smooth himself out when he had real business to attend to. Now he was going to talk to his family and enjoy a good breakfast. "Wow, Ed, nice to see you up and around at this hour." he teased.

Lucy shook her head slightly at Edmund just nodding to her. She didn’t even ask a question that yes would be an appropriate answer to. You can’t answer yes to how did you sleep. That didn’t make any since. But then she had answered it for him. So maybe he was just agreeing. That was pleasant. In a sort of, unpleasant, he was going to get her back when he had the mental ability to argue kind of way. But still. Nice.
“Oh, you know.” She said off handedly taking a sip of her juice. “I slept fine.” She had been sleeping pretty good. Before they came to Narnia she slept horribly but that seemed to change here. Maybe she was more happy. She hadn’t really thought of that before. But it was possible. Even when she stayed up late and woke up early she seemed even a bit more refreshed then she would have if she wasn’t in Narnia. Kind of strange, not that she was complaining. Lucy wasn’t a huge fan of sleep, there just seemed like there would be more important things to do. Although she wasn’t stupid enough to think that she didn’t need it.
She looked around as someone else came in the kitchen and smiled at Peter. “Good Morning Peter.” She said and took another bite of her toast. Lucy glanced around the kitchen absently before looking back at her brothers and laughing slightly at Peter’s comment about Edmund. She looked towards Edmund for a moment as if she were waiting for him to comment but before he could she piped up first. Might as well make the most of her brothers lack of ability to come up with any sort of reply. He did deserve it though, didn’t he?
Lucy looked at Peter and smiled. “Well, he’s not mentally awake at the moment, of course.” She said and shrugged her shoulders taking another sip of her juice. “I suppose we should take advantage of that while we still can. Before he has the ability to back talk at all, perhaps...” She nodded her head and set her glass down picking up her napkin and whipping the corners of her mouth. Lucy looked back at Edmund and tilted her head to the side patting his hand.

Edmund looked around as another person entered the kitchen and watched Peter as he got his food and sat down. He sighed in greeting and looked at his almost empty glass. Getting up he filled it up with more juice and looked around hearing Peter’s comment, making him roll his eyes. Maybe physically he was. It was hard to say otherwise. Sitting back down at the table Edmund opened his mouth to comment but his eyes moved towards Lucy as she decided that she could take advantage of his silence.
And people say she’s a sweet girl... They obviously had no idea. Edmund smiled at his little sister and took a drink of his juice before looking at Peter. “Wow Peter.” He said then just fell silent for a few moments.
Apparently Lucy totally had it on the nose when she said he would be unable to come up with anything to say back. So he just turned his attention to his little sister and frowned. “Shut up.” He said and leaned back in his chair taking a bite of his toast and frowning.
“Why do you all have to pick on me? It’s no fair.” He rubbed his eyes as if he was trying to wake himself up more but he just looked around the kitchen and shook his head. At least it wasn’t this fair in the morning. Any other time of day he would totally be able to take both of them in a verbal battle. But his brain wasn’t awake yet.
He just let out another sigh and brushed his hand through his hair shaking his head at them. “What kind of siblings does that to someone? Think about it...”
Edmund ended his half assed argument on that note and went back to eating. At least he was able to make sentences. He was defiantly waking up. It was just taking kind of a long time. He gave himself a few more minutes, and then he would see where he was. If he was able to form cohesive thoughts and words that actually made some sort of sense. He would just have to play it by ear though and see what happened till then.

Peter grinned. Poor Ed. It was true, they did tend to gang up on him but sometimes he deserved it. It was his own fault ,wasn't it for being the youngest son? Next to youngest really. Of course Lucy was fine on her own as she WAS the youngest and a girl no less. That and she still had her way about wrapping Peter around her finger just as easily. He had gotten over that even as they grew up over the years and he would do anything to make his baby sister happy. But he would do just the same with the rest of his family anyway.
He shook his head, only making his already awful looking hair worse, and wandered over to Ed before setting to make some eggs on his own. He could never get enough of Narnian food no matter what he did. How could he have gone without from before? It was a silly thought to think anyway. A world without Narnia was impossible to him now and he would never be the same without it. He never wanted to go back, that was for certain but at the same time he didn't feel like he was doing a good enough job taking care of the beautiful country. He felt like there was something he could be doing better. But he could never seem to find out what and that was about to drive him mad. What he needed was an advisor to help him more than anything but he wasn't sure to call on being the oldest.
But he shook such thoughts out of his head and reached over to tousle his brother's dark hair teasingly. "Only because it's so easy, Ed. You know you react just how we like too. And don't worry. I'll tease all of you equally if you like. As King it's part of my duty." He lightly punched his brother's shoulder at that and grinned. He only hoped Ed wasn't too offended. He did care about his brother deeply and wanted no harm to come to him. Of course his teasing was a way of showing a weird kind of affection as with all brothers.

Lucy smiled faintly at Edmund when he told her to shut up. She just shrugged her shoulders slightly and went back to eating her toast. She shook her head when he said it wasn’t fair they picked on him all the time. Yeah, all the time was kind of stretching it. More like in the morning when it was possible to get to him. She had a feeling if it were later in the day he probably wouldn’t be so whiney about it. So she stayed silent for a moment rolling her eyes.
She laughed into her juice glass at Peter’s comment and looked around at her brothers. “That is true.” She said nodding. “It wouldn’t be very fair at all to just have a go at one of us. So if you must, to make Edmund happy, you may tease me now.” She nodded her head and pulled a look as if she were doing something noble.
“And Edmund, you shouldn’t pull that it’s not fair card so much.” She said nodding her head. Of course if anyone were to know what was and wasn’t fair that would be him she supposed. Lucy brushed her hand through her hair and leaned back in her chair starting to pick at her food now obviously not being as hungry as she was when she arrived. Kind of odd that Susan wasn’t with them, probably off doing something responsible or something that none of them would be able to do in the morning.
After a moment of silence she looked around. “What is going on today anyway? We don’t have anything hard to do, do we?” She didn’t feel like it. And by hard she meant boring. Sometimes being a Queen was tedious. But of course the fun times made up for it. And they stuck out more in her mind. That was probably all that really mattered. She just hoped there wasn’t anything tedious today. She didn’t feel like it.
((omg crappiest post ever. Sorry guys.))

Edmund sighed; he so wanted to go back upstairs and lock himself in his room for the next hour. That sounded like such a good idea. Yet, he had a feeling that wouldn’t stop anyone. He rolled his eyes at Peter and shook his head. “There is no reason to patronize me.” He said glancing at Lucy as she spoke which actually did make him laugh. Though it was a sort of unhumorless laugh, which any of his would have been because how can you possibly see humor in anything at this hour.
His siblings were amazing to him in that way. “I seriously doubt that King Peter would do any sort of teasing to the dear Queen Lucy.” He said honestly. It was honest. Everyone knew that Peter was Lucy’s favorite, and that Lucy was Peter’s favorite.
Which was totally fine with him really. He didn’t mind. But Peter acting like he would ever even do anything close to teasing her really was pushing it. Although that though really would have made him laugh if it were just a bit later in the day. So at least he was able to see humor even if he didn’t have the capacity to laugh at it. That was saying something, wasn’t it? Slowly but surely he was waking up, that was always a good sign.
Edmund thought for a moment at Lucy’s question and shrugged his shoulders. He wouldn’t know what they were doing. He wasn’t in charge of keeping track of those kinds of things.
Actually none of them really were, he was sure they had someone to do that for them. But that didn’t stop Susan from having the most elaborate day planner he had ever seen. She put everything down. He was surprised she didn’t schedule a time for impulsive decisions. But he really doubted the two words Susan and Impulsive would ever fit in the same sentence together.
“I hope it’s nothing boring. I’m so not in the mood for sitting around and acting interested in things I’m not.” He shook his head slightly and looked around. As if he were ever in the mood for something boring. Like anyone would be. He couldn’t see a single being saying something like ‘You know, I'm totally in the mood to do something that will bore me to tears today!’ That would probably never happen. He smiled to himself and laughed quietly.
Oho! A laugh. One step at a time...

Peter grinned. Poor Ed did seem to get the butt of the teasing lately and he wasn't as good about teasing Lucy lately either. Something about her just being Lucy always stopped him. But she had always been his little sister and always would be. So would the others be. He just wondered if something else would find Susan. Where was she anyway? He bit his lip, feeling nervous a little that she hadn't shown up for breakfast like usual. Where would she be anyway? Sleeping? No, she didn't seem the sleeping in type at all. But where else could she possibly be? He tried to think about things like that. He wouldn't begin to think what could happen to her. "It's all right ,Edmund." He teased, going over to the counter and began to make something of a pancake Narnian style at least. Perhaps he could find some kind of syrup too. "We still care about you. Lucy just...she can well.uh..." He shrugged." She makes this face, you see. And I just can't resist it. Maybe if you made that face too..."He began the cooking slowly, knowing he wasn't much of a cook but it was something to do and his stomach was really starting to bother him about things. "So...anything going on in the castle today? Busy peasants? Revolts anything going on?Wars? Something? Maybe?" He prodded as he swirled the batter around in hopes of something different. He really was beginning to get restless of his so called Kingly duties. Maybe they had news of some kind that he would find interesting. And he had been thinking of going on some kind of expedition of sorts, something new to go on about. He was quite tired of the castle as beautiful as it was and needed something. He was sure his siblings would gladly come with him if they wanted to. (Sorry that kinda sucked )

Lucy batted her eyes at Edmund as he told Peter to tease her instead. She knew it wouldn’t happen. Besides she got enough of it from him to suffice for all of their siblings anyway. Really enough to suffice for everyone anywhere actually. But that was just Edmund. He had stopped for a time there after they got to Narnia, but when Lucy started speaking up for herself and talking back to him he started up again obviously understanding that she could actually handle being teased without crying now that she was older.
“Of course we care about Edmund.” She interjected as Peter spoke. “We tease because we love...” She said and smiled over at her brothers. She felt silent as Peter went into some type of speech as to why he didn’t tease Lucy. The youngest Pevensie let out a laugh as Peter suggested Edmund make whatever face it was that she made and covered her mouth grinning behind her hand. That was just really funny to think of. Edmund couldn’t pull of being cute like she could, she didn’t even try, she didn’t even know she was doing it, he had the more surly thing down though. It was best he just stick with that.
“What face Peter?” Lucy asked looking at her eldest brother after she had contained her laughter and smiled at him.
She took a sip from her juice before getting up and walking over to Peter watching him cook for a few moments. Lucy looked around happy that she wasn’t the only one who was hoping for something to happen today. She couldn’t think of anything super exciting, but you never really knew. “Well, the Archenlanders are coming today aren’t they? That should be fun. Prince Corin always makes things so much more interesting.” She glanced at Edmund and smiled slightly.
They were both really close with Corin, though wherever the boy went, trouble was bound to fallow. So that might bring something interesting in his wake. “And then there is that Ball that is being planned...” Though that wasn’t really any of their things. Susan was the one who was more into formal events like that. But at least it was something to the nothing all of them had.

Edmund rolled his eyes at Peter’s and Lucy’s words. He moodily stabbed at his eggs before feeling really just done with them. He wasn’t in the mood for eggs anyway. The dark haired boy tossed a look towards where Peter was making something before letting out a sigh and leaned back in his chair listening to his siblings chat. Right, Lucy had that face, that face that could make Peter jump off a cliff for her. Of course Lucy would never want Peter to jump off a cliff. When that day came, he would just die of shock.
But he just didn’t feel like he should ever even attempt to pull of a ‘Lucy’ face. He laughed slightly as Lucy questioned what face and just shook his head. Edmund got up and walked over to the counter leaning on the one opposite of his siblings and smirking. “You know, Lucy, that face.” He said deliberately trying to be vague, half because who would be able to describe it, and half because it was just her face...
And to annoy her, that was always a good thing too.
“Right,” Edmund said and smiled. He totally forgot the Archenlanders were coming to Narnia today. Maybe it wouldn’t really be all that bad. He liked them all very much. Such an interesting group and what not. Besides if there was anyone he could relate to it was pretty much Prince Corin. The two of them had hit it off from the first time they met, he was like a younger, brighter Edmund. It was always good to have someone like that in a kingdom to keep everyone else in line. “I forgot they were coming today.” He said slowly and nodded.
The King rolled his eyes when Lucy spoke about the ball coming up. He was with her on the not being excited for it. Girls took it as a time to start throwing their selves at him, and Peter as well. Sure, Edmund was a fan of attention, and girls, but they all seemed so fake. There were the perfect ones and the ones who tried to be perfect, and the ones who tried to be perfect for him. They were all fake and they all annoyed him. In fact he hadn’t met one girl at all that took his interest.
But he wasn’t really looking for someone to spend the rest of his life with... “Well, the Ball isn’t for a month or so.” He said looking at Lucy. “It sounds as if you’re suggesting we help plan it.” He added with slight humor in his voice and smirking at her.
