beneath this phrase, the name susan pevensie is
embossed neatly in the direct center of the cover,
below which a drawing of a water lily has been
made; its roots reach down to the bottom of this
front page, a wild mass of dark ink against the pale
soft white leather, the petals of that faux blossom
a subtle shade of purple, susan's favorite color -
and when you open the pages, the scent of spring
wafts up to your nostrils, because between most
of the sheaves of thick white parchment are pressed
flowers from summers gone by, just more memories
aside from the pictures and notes that susan has
made to show anyone who will look just exactly
anyone or anything she has ever known and loved.
