Okay so I've been asked to get up a topic explaining ICL.
Which is short for 'In Character Lurk'.
So we all know that when we're talking normally to one another we usually put things like;
-beams-
or
-snugs-
Something like that. Just to show how we're feeling or what we're doing, etc.
ICL is quite like that.
It's the lazy-person's way of Rp'ing...although you can have extremely long ICLs which are not so lazy.
They're usually a bit faster and can be a lot of fun.
Here's an example from another rp and from a character of mine;
| QUOTE | -well now, Saoirse wouldn't be Saoirse if she didn't wonder about these things-
-what if this was just a regular occurrence in his life?-
-what if he was just bored and wanted some fun?-
-she wasn't going to be that girl-
-but then again, what if he was just being nice?-
-he seemed nice enough-
-and then there was the whole coincidental meeting in the music shop-
-yes, they hadn't taken their eyes off one another the other night-
-and now, here they were going for lunch-
-couldn't be coincidence-
-well, maybe it was just her lucky day and she was thinking far too much into things-
-but he was in a band...-
-and you know what they say about guys in bands-
-or she at least knew what Brock would say-
-he'd tell Lochlan to get the hell away from her and tell Saoirse to know better-
-that guys in bands were only out for one thing...-
-or all men in general were-
-she had to admit, she did love Brock's rants at times-
-well she was glad he found her question funny-
-at least he wasn't offended that she was asking him something like that-
-walking into the diner just ahead of him-
-she knew he had followed her in because of the look on some people's faces-
-she had to stifle a laugh as she heard some girls start whispering-
-even the girl who had mentioned her-
-jealousy-
-she managed not to laugh even once-
-sitting herself into the booth just opposite Lochlan-
-she bit at her bottom lip and started looking at her own menu as the waitress ran over-
-she had to stifle another laugh before placing her menu down when Lochlan turned back to her-
"Oh really? And here I thought you just had a staring problem"
-gives a little smile-
-and then a little laugh at the wink-
-shakes her head a tiny bit-
-looks completely serious as he asks her the next question-
-gives a nod of her head-
"Oh all the time. Sure last week it was the singer from Maroon 5. Just wouldn't take no for an answer, so who was I to turn him down?"
-with a raise of her eyebrows and a nod of her head-
-and a little smile playing about on her lips-
-picks up her menu again-
-eyebrows raised-
-as if to say 'beat that'-
"Ready to order?"
-full smile on her lips now-
-oh, she was having fun with this-
-if he wanted to play like that then she could no problem-
-glances over some of the menu-
"So is there any truth to the rumours I heard then? About the contracts and everything?" |
Basically just like that.
-nods-
They can be shorter, or longer.
Hold more information, or less.
It's a fun way of rpin'.
