FLYNN
KEVIN FLYNN

Old, Creator of the Grid, Jeff Bridges
TAKEN

Kevin Flynn is a gifted computer programmer who, in 1982, created some best-selling video games for ENCOM which included Space Paranoids, Matrix Blaster, Vice Squad, and Lightcycles. As he developed his games, the code he wrote was stolen by fellow ENCOM programmer Ed Dillinger and Flynn was fired shortly after Dillinger became Executive VP. Later, as the VP of Creative Development, Flynn created Tron - an arcade game based on his experience inside the Computer World alongside the Tron program - and paved the way for ENCOM to become the largest video game company in the world. Meanwhile, Flynn married Jordan Canas and had a son named Sam. Following his wife's death in 1985, Flynn began to focus all of his efforts on creating "a digital frontier that will reshape the human condition."

In 1989, Flynn was on the verge of new discovery when he disappeared mysteriously and left behind Sam and his fortune. It wasn't until 2010 that Sam got a tip that led him to his father.

SAM FLYNN

27, User/Son of Flynn, Garret Hedlund
OPEN

Sam Flynn is the 27 year-old[2] son of famous video game creator, former ENCOM CEO and digital pioneer Kevin Flynn. He was born in 1983.[3] His mother passed away unexpectedly in September 1985, leaving Sam and Kevin. In July 1989, Sam's father was on the verge of a major discovery when he disappeared with no trace, leaving Sam's grandparents to take care of him. Sam was seven when his father disappeared. Legally, Sam is the largest shareholder of ENCOM (a fortune which he inherited from his father when he disappeared). Sam is reclusive and lives modestly with his pet dog, Marv in a shipping container reconstituted into a home on the river with a beautiful view of the city and the ENCOM Tower itself.

He performs extreme stunts such as base jumping, motocross and parachuting. On April 2, 2010, Sam Flynn crashed the ENCOM Press Conference by jumping out of a ENCOM Helicopter and releasing a parachute with the numbers "89" printed on it. He flew over the crowd and landed right behind the ENCOM stage and took off in an SUV waiting near by.

Every year to mark the anniversary of his father's disappearance, he performs a daredevil stunt. According to Kevin and Sam's friend , Alan Bradley, Sam does this as a reaction to the pressure of following in his father's footsteps as well as getting people to pay attention and look deeper into the disappearance of his father.

In 2010, Alan Bradley told Sam that he got a message from the telephone number from Flynn's Arcade; the number was previously disconnected over 20 years ago. Reluctantly, Sam heads over to his father's abandoned arcade to find a hidden office, complete with a digitizing laser. Sam is digitized and sent to cyberspace to find his father with the help of Quorra.

Gem is a program known as a Siren. She works in the armory underneath the Game Arena along with three other Sirens, outfitting programs with armor for the games.

Gem first encountered Sam Flynn when he was captured and sentenced to fight in the arena. She and the other sirens equipped him with his attire and Identity Disc, before offering limited advice that he simply had to survive in the games. She later helped Sam find Zuse in the End of Line Club, also telling him that she wished she could have met him under different circumstances. She later revealed herself to be in league with Castor as an accomplice in his bid for power over the Grid.

CASTOR
CASTOR/ZEUS

Old, Rouge Program, . . .
OPEN

Zuse is a basic program, a self-proclaimed "lubricant that greases the rusted gears of our digital society." He is an entrepreneur and proprietor of the popular TRON City social establishment, End of Line Club. He is also a suspected key figure in black market trade of discontinued modifications.
Disparate accounts of Zuse's origin exist. He was reputedly designed and created by Kevin Flynn in TC30 as an interpreter but quickly and naturally exceeded his original directives. Unconfirmed conflicting reports describe his origin as a "low-priority actuarial algorithm illegally co-opted identity of obsolete protocol. More investigation required for verification."

After the purge, he needed to reinvent himself, and so adopted the guise of Castor.

JARVIS
JARVIS

Old, Program, . . .
OPEN

Jarvis is a program who serves as Clu 2's intelligence officer and chief administrator in Clu 2's regime. He appears bald and wears black with red circuitry, topped by a transparent visor attached directly to his scalp.

Jarvis rose to his station on the back of Clu 2's tolerance and by the time of TRON: Legacy had managed to secure a prominent position for himself by carrying out his master's every whim. His first appearance had him commenting on the Game Arena exploits of Sam Flynn while being largely ignored by his master.

After Sam was captured and assigned to a Lightcycle duel, Jarvis mustered all of his showmanship in a booming announcement for the imminent match. Seeking to curry favour with Clu 2, he then asked his master's opinion of the announcement to the gathered crowd, only to be derisively told, "It wasn't meant for them."

Jarvis later made amends when delivering the news that the location of Kevin Flynn's hideout had been discovered, although once there he soon attracted another condescending glare when he knocked over one of Flynn's possessions.

ALAN
ALAN BRADLEY

Old, ENCOM Employee, Bruce Boxleitner
OPEN

Alan Bradley (known to Tron as ALAN1) is a computer programmer who wrote the computer program Tron. He is also CEO of ENCOM when Kevin Flynn retires then disappears afterwards.

Alan Bradley was a programmer at ENCOM in 1982, when he wrote Tron, a security program that was able to shut down the MCP, the administrative program that was controlling ENCOM's mainframe system. One day, Alan was denied access to Tron by the MCP, as part of a security lockdown measure, after former ENCOM programmer Kevin Flynn tried to hack into ENCOM's mainframe. Upset that he cannot access Tron, Alan's girlfriend Lora figures out that her former boyfriend, Flynn, was trying to hack into the mainframe in order to get proof that Ed Dillinger (programmer of the MCP and Senior Executive VP of ENCOM) stole his videogames. Shortly after Dillinger's promotion to Senior Exec., Dillinger fired Flynn. Reluctantly, Alan goes along with Lora to go visit Flynn's Arcade to see if Flynn really did break in. Flynn admits he tried to hack in and tells them his story about his video games and how they were stolen by Dillinger. Flynn believes that if he had a direct terminal to the ENCOM mainframe, he'll be able to successfully hack in and get the evidence that Dillinger stole his games. Unfortunately, the MCP has made impossible to be able to retrieve the data; unless if another program that would be able to shut the MCP down was active. Realizing that he can gain access back to Tron by shutting down the MCP, he decides to help out Flynn by trespassing in ENCOM's offices and giving Flynn access to a terminal. While at Lora's terminal, Flynn is discovered by the MCP and is digitized by using Lora's digitizing laser. After being digitized and transported into cyberspace, Flynn meets Tron (who looks just like Alan) and helps him escape from the game grid, an area of the ENCOM mainframe where prisoners of the MCP are forced to play gladiator games. Tron finally communicates with Alan and receives Alan's code and instructions on how to destroy the MCP. Tron is successful in destroying the MCP and Flynn gets the incriminating evidence. Shortly after, Dillinger is fired and Flynn returns to ENCOM as CEO. Alan soon becomes COO of ENCOM.

He is now currently an Executive Consultant at ENCOM, working on Space Paranoids Online.

CLU
CLU

Uknown, Rougue Program, Jeff Bridges
TAKEN

CLU 2 (shortened to Clu), which stands for Codified Likeness Utility 2.0, was an artificial intelligence program that was written in 1983 by Kevin Flynn. He is based on an earlier hacker program Flynn wrote, which was derezzed by the MCP during the events of TRON. Clu 2 serves as the main antagonist of TRON: Legacy and is the secondary antagonist in TRON: Evolution. As with most programs, Clu 2 appears visually identical - albeit at a younger age - to his creator. He represents an evil digital doppelganger of Kevin Flynn and a twisted embodiment of Flynn's youth.

Clu was reconstructed for the purpose of creating what Flynn called "the perfect system," taking his user's burden of running the Grid as his own. Once the self-generated ISOs began to enter the system, he found himself at odds with them, ultimately deeming them a threat to the system's stability that must be destroyed. Clu's strict adherence to his directive also caused him to become increasingly frustrated with Flynn for spending so much time away from the Grid, leaving him without a guide to follow and unable to take action without Flynn's approval. Eventually he conspired to take control of the Grid, reasoning that he was made in Flynn's likeness and thus, for all intents and purposes, he was the Creator.

"TRON"
RINZLER

Uknown, Rogue Program, Your Choice
TAKEN

Rinzler is Clu 2's primary enforcer. He is an exceptionally skilled warrior and is the elite combatant in all games in the Grid. He has the ability to use two Light Discs in battle.

Rinzler first appears as the final opponent of the Disc Wars, where he identifies Sam as a user after seeing him bleed and brings him to Clu. Later, he is summoned when Quorra interrupts the Lightcycle duel, but is unable to prevent her from rescuing Sam. Despite the setback, he continues to assist Clu 2, acting as a personal enforcer and right-hand man.

Quorra later distracts Rinzler by allowing herself to be captured so that Kevin and Sam can reclaim Kevin's Identity Disc and reach the portal back to the real world. As Sam attempts to retrieve the disc, Rinzler appears, and the two briefly engage in a disc fight that sees Rinzler knocked over a nearby ledge. He recovers and pursues the three heroes in his Light Jet along with Clu and the Black Guards. In the ensuing fight, he and Kevin Flynn manage to make eye contact, and Kevin refers to him as "Tron" and asks what he has become. Shortly thereafter, Rinzler begins to experience flashbacks to when he had once saved Kevin, and is able to overcome his reprogramming, stating Tron's iconic line, ("I fight for the Users").

Now free, he deliberately crashes his Light Jet into Clu's, derezzing both jets and allowing the three heroes to escape. Clu and Rinzler briefly scuffle as they fall, but Clu succeeds in stealing Rinzler's baton, allowing him to create a new Light Jet and leaving Rinzler to plummet into the Sea of Simulation below.

As he sinks into the ocean, his circuitry flickers and eventually reverts from orange to white as his systems reboot.

ABRAXAS
ABRAXAS

Unknown, ISO, Your Choice
OPEN

"I am the perfect weapon. Spread my pain... Infect the Grid... Destroy everything in my path... My purpose is clear, everything is coming to an end!"

Abraxas, Formerly Jalen was an Alpha-class ISO that evolved into a computer Virus that attacked the TRON system in 1989. He is the main antagonist of TRON: Evolution.

Apparently, Abraxas was written as a virus to infect the TRON system, so his creator, Clu 2 could destroy the remaining ISOs but his creator, Kevin Flynn, had written the program Anon specifically for the task of eliminating Abraxas while Clu started to take control of the system away from Flynn and declare war on the ISOs.

Abraxas' features are tall and thin, almost sickly in appearance, and his circuitry is yellow, with more of a "cracked" design to his circuits than traditional program circuitry. He wears a hood and a long black cloak over his right shoulder, all outlined with circuits. His primary weapon is his Identity Disc, and he also possesses a virulent plague touch.

QUORRA
QUORRA

Age, ISO, Olivia Wilde

Quorra is the confidante and apprentice of Kevin Flynn. Flynn has shared his knowledge of the real world with her, and as such, she longs to experience what lies outside the realm of possibility. She is the last known ISO alive and is referred to by Kevin Flynn as The Miracle.

Quorra first meets Sam when she charges onto the Game Arena and rescues him from Clu. Gradually forming a bond with Sam, she goes against Kevin's wishes and secretly aids him to find her old friend Zuse, only to rescue him once more when the End of Line Club comes under attack. However, her system begins to shut down after her arm is partially derezzed in the ensuing brawl. Sam and Kevin then take her aboard a Solar Sailer headed for the Portal, once aboard Kevin sets about repairing her code in order to restore her arm and reboot her systems. He speaks to Sam about her being the last known ISO alive while she is still unconscious. When she awakes she listens to Sam's stories about the physical world outside of the system.
