Darkness in Hearts

"I've been having these weird thoughts lately...like is any of this for real? Or not?"

Now it all seemed like a dream...Maleficent and Xehanort's Heartless were defeated, Kairi had her heart back, Riku returned to the light, Namine and Roxas had returned to Sora and Kairi, the Organization had been defeated. Those two years they had spent fighting, striving, wishing, hoping...it was all over. Everything was back to normal, they could go back to their lives. But then they received a letter with King Mickey's seal....

"The memory's wiles are cruel. In its silence, we forget. And in its perversion, it binds our hearts firmly."

Something very strange happened once Sora, Riku, and Kairi opened the note. Before they could read the letter's contents everything faded to black and one by one they seemed to vanish. Only to awaken a year before. Sora and Kairi were in Traverse Town, just before Sora left to defeat Xehanort's Heartless. Riku was still trapped in Xehanort's grasp. None of them knew what happened at first. Then they forgot; it was as if they had never defeated Xehanort or the Organization.

"If the world is made of light and darkness... We'll be the darkness."

Maleficent and Pete defeated the Heartless in the Organization's stronghold. However, the castle they hoped to capture was crumbling as Sora and Riku fought Xemnas. The witch went off and came across a world called Tomorrowland. The world was set in the future and had two "time cars." The cars only worked in their world, but Maleficent had a plan to use one. Using her dark magic, she managed to power the time car outside of its world and travel into the past (finding Pete useless she simply left him in the future). She arrived after Sora had defeated her, Riku, and released the Princesses. However, her magic wore down the time car and the vehicle was, quite simply, destroyed, never to be used again. So, with Sora looking after Kairi, she had time to confront Xehanort. The two devised a plan and became 'partners.'

As Sora went off to defeat Xehanort, she returned to the Heartless and revealed her plan, creating a partnership. She would reveal the Keyhole and he would open the Door. Xehanort left powerful Heartless behind to occupy Sora while their plan was carried out. Recapturing the princesses was easy - the first eight were stranded in Hollow Bastion and Kairi was left alone in Traverse Town. So while Sora battled some of the strongest Heartless in End of the World, Maleficent and 'Ansem' opened the Door and released the Darkness inside. The worlds were sent into chaos.

"The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared."

Heartless were everywhere. Nobodies, too. Darkness awakened in people's hearts...those with exceptionally strong will found themselves with odd new abilities. Others were changed into Heartless and/or Nobodies. Very few remained the same. Villains that had fallen were brought back by Maleficent and Xehanort grew even stronger with the Darkness he found. The Princesses were scattered among the worlds, lost and confused. No longer needing Riku, Xehanort left him on his own. The Light seemed to be lost, though some did still hold it. Organization XIII, with Roxas and Namine in their hands, worked harder to grasp their hearts. DiZ, seeing the Organization on the move, also doubled his efforts. So, what would happen now?

"Will you take the road to light or the road to darkness?"
