Once upon a time...One late evening in the midst of winter, December, a beautiful Princess was born. The child’s hair, as white as snow and eyes brighter than the sun. This young Princess was known by the people as Snow White. Though, her given first name was Nevara. She always hated that name, the one her mother picked (Snow being her father’s choice) and refused to be called by it (though in recent times, her mind has changed, somehow). Snow, a young and almost snooty little girl received everything she ever wanted. Adored by her father and anyone she met, it was only natural for things to come her way…fall into place. Just be perfect for her. This of course…irritated her mother. Her mother, a woman with hair dark as the midnight sky disliked her daughter since birth…if the times were right she would be considered a victim of postpartum depression.
This, however did not affect Snow. She was blissfully unaware of her mother’s hatred for her, especially when her father’s love more than made up for it. This only fueled the Queen’s obsession more with how perfect Snow was; hair white as snow, skin soft as silk.
It wasn’t until the fateful day Snow walked in on her...sneaked in on her mother in a room she had never seen before…the Queen completely naked in front of a mirror, arms out stretched; hovering over the ground...there was magic afoot. The Queen, complete in her ecstasy did not see Snow at first.
“Mirror, Mirror on the wall who is fairest of them all? Mirror, Mirror what do you see…am I as fair, as she?”
At first, Snow was mesmerized by the booming sound, and glowing edges of the gigantic, gold mirror that hung on a wall surrounded by deep red curtains.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, the girl as white as snow…is to be murdered before any of them all.”
Snow was 13 by this point, just into her teens, and had suspicions by now of her mother’s distaste for her. But her father always jested that her mother was just a little too jealous of how beautiful of a daughter she had. She had not understood until that moment how completely fearful she was of the person the Queen had become and as Snow White turned around to run away she slipped on the hard cold floor below her and smashed loud with a thump. The glow immediately faded, a cloak of black shielded her mother and when Snow looked up, still on the ground, she saw how sinister and lifeless her mother’s eye were, staring into her, there was no use to plea. She instead got up and ran as fast she could.
There was no stopping Snow, she did not stop anywhere in the castle on her sprint out, and as she flew passed doors, and servants she could hear her father down the hall and the only thought that passed her mind was, Goodbye father. Once she hit the edge of the forest, the pain in her knee finally reached her brain, and it was becoming harder for her to run. She wondered if she was over reacting and maybe should even go back. There was no sign to run, she thought. No…real sign. But that was when she was proven wrong. That seemed to be happening a lot at that point.
The huntsman; a man she knew, was coming. He was exactly that, a huntsman. He brought them deer, and bear. Many meats others could not afford. She felt lucky to have such a strong person within her castle walls to bring her family’s food. But when she remembered that he was not always good and shadowy memories she had once forgotten passed like lighting through her mind, terror jumped through her veins, he was coming towards the forest.
The pain in her knee was still throbbing, but the fear in her heart was enough to keep her feet moving. Slow at first, more of a gallop…but by the time he was chasing after her she was sprinting as fast as she could. Whooshing by trees, jumping over rocks, skimming bushes. Snow could not run as fast as him. To her luck or dismay, she could never figure out which, Snow slipped on the fallen leaves, tripped and rolled to what she had hoped not be her death. It was a steep enough fall for the huntsman to stop and turn back. not able to walk down that steep of a cliff side. But somehow Snow White managed to escape the dreadful fall with mere bruises and scrapes.
That night she spent alone in the dark forest, huddled under a group of oddly shaped rocks. She felt the presence of, bats…something above her, something behind her, across from her. It was enough to make her scream in fright but instead she kept her mouth tightly closed, eyes shut, her arms tight around her. Oddly enough, she did fall asleep and when she awoke early in the morning…she found something quite magical. One small diamond above her in the rocks or maybe it was a gem or stone, she could not really tell. It just sparkled bright red above her. About the size of an apple.
That dewy morning she did not see anything but a deer munching on some leaves and one small rabbit that leaped away at the first sight of her. Whatever was in the night she did want to know but at least she survived. She couldn’t have been too far away from the castle but far enough not to be found…yet.
She spent most of the day wandering deep into the forest, probably way out of her family’s jurisdiction, and tried to stay as calm as she could. Thinking about what happened, about what to do next. Wondering if she would ever see her father again.
As she thought and wandered, somehow (she has no idea what she did) she found a place she had never seen before. The red glitters were everywhere. A pile of them in a basket, larger ones stuck in the dirt, tons of them, it was glorious. She took one and put it in her pocket. Right after sliding that small stone in her apron, she heard sounds. Axes? Grunting…a plethora of sounds and whistling even. It was rather odd and even a little menacing. Again, she ran and followed the gems into a cave. At first it was lit with small flashes of fire but the deeper she went the darker it became…and the louder the noises got. Feeling her away around, Snow felt wood above her and dirt in front of her so there was no where to go but up, she could feel it’s handle. That must mean it was a door, she thought and opened that thing so fast, she forgot to be quiet. That made her even more frightened and in the dark she bear crawled her way around, bumping into a few things but then up a flight of stairs. It wasn’t the best option but the closest and when she picked a door to go in upstairs there were so many beds to hide under she just picked one and ducked…She lived with those 7 small men for a long time.
For the rest of the story you’ll have to ask Snow White herself. Or Nev, now. That part of the story never got around. Perhaps she didn’t want it to. Everyone knows that the Queen eventually was speared through the heart by one of the short men. He later moved on and took his good name with him leaving some of the other less fortunate men behind.
Nev, a wandering woman, always in search of love, men, a home…something. Wandering is her best attribute now and perhaps she is deemed to do so for eternity.
But maybe not… - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Please list any items your character has in their possession here in Faymoor:
The clothing on her back, a long gown as white as her skin but it glitters much like diamonds. A dark navy blue, seemingly black cloak hides the purity of her gown, and the thick tall black boots she wears give much support for the long journey she faces. A small dagger stays at the side of her hip at all times, sheathed in a leather pouch. The hilt of the sword covered in rubies.
