VERY fair terms, NATO. Good show. I don't see what's the big deal, they're not close to nuke capability anyway, so that's nothing, and you'll probably be lax about the whole tech raiding/attacking thing.

If I were ALMEA's leadership, I'd accept these in a heartbeat.

No kidding. The OP didn't even have a time limit listed when I said that.

QUOTE (El Bruc @ Sep 1 2007, 03:27 PM)
OK, I'm going to spill a big CN secret:

Everybody always leads publicly with harsh terms, and then says "accept now because the terms will only get more severe as this goes on." In the ranking of lies, this is up there with "the donation just hasn't processed yet." The fact is, if you can do some respectful back channel diplomacy while holding the line on your membership, you can usually get the more egregious terms knocked down somewhat. Happens all the time.

Secondly, even if you accept harsh terms in perpetuity, if you can show after that that you can get along with the victor and be cool about it, those usually get lifted eventually.

Elsewhere around here there's a discussion about "which is better, war or diplomacy?" War can succeed when diplomacy fails, but a lesser known fact is that diplomacy still has a chance to succeed even when war fails.

Good god, do you have a fan club? If so, I want in.

(i.e., "This.")

Oh, and extremely fair terms NATO. The lengths are a little much, but I wouldn't really complain.

The main point of all of this is that we said unconditional surrender and the first thing their quazi leadership does is give us completely different peace terms.

We've been trying in our forum to reach agreement, but it is just not happening.

/El Bruc for ALMEA President!

El Bruc is too good for Almea.... Much like most other alliances in CN.

But it would be the best thing to have ever happend to Almea.

Are you implying that \m/ is not the coolest alliance in CN(other than SPQR)?

QUOTE (Priamos @ Sep 1 2007, 04:18 PM)
1. HassanBazzi resigns from his position as Emperor.

2. The remaining council members will discuss the future of the alliance.

2.2 If ALMEA will continue, we will negociate further terms of surrender!

2.3 If ALMEA will be dissolved totaly, NATO will assure not to attack the single (former) ALMEA members, unless they become part of another alliance(they do the same).

2.4 If the council will found a successor-alliance(and thus resolve almea), this alliance will not have to make further negociations about repairs etc. but will have to assure peace between itself and NATO. Further it will set up a list of guidelines, which will contain things like respectful treatments of others, a non-agression policy towards NATO and other.

I understand that for some of you guys in ALMEA, English might be a little shaky, but here's a few non-grammatical tips:

1) Didn't HassanBazzi already leave ALMEA? I don't think that gives you much leverage...

2) NATO's terms are unbelievably fair. Use private channels, whittle down the 180 days to something somewhat more reasonable (remember, the Legion and Spanish Cat Alliance went without nuclear weapons for almost two months, if they could do it I think you guys can).

3) Apologize profusely. I can't claim to know the entirety of the situation, but the world view has you down for "wrongdoers" rather than "wronged." Offer more money, maybe tech, maybe a treaty.

4) Protip: That chaos you mentioned? Let NATO install a restricted Viceroy. They can help restructure you and prevent things like this from happening again.

5) Offer a total demilitarization (everything but soldiers) in exchange for protection.

Also, kingmorton, that's pretty shameless SPQR advertisement. Come on now. I'm in the alliance, people already know it's wicked awesome.

ALMEA need to just accept the terms. Its foolish to keep arguing. The war will end in a defeat for them, and the longer they leave it the worse it will be.

Yeah, pretty much. Apparently you sig something but I don't know 'cuz I turned my ability to view sigs off.

Anyhow, if called to serve I'm prepared to accept Viceroyship of ALMEA. But I warn you: if I do, I'm taking it Jihad on all your asses. Enough screwing around.

Hear goes for my full analysis of the effects

1. this may more may not inhibit the ALMEA nations, depending if they get strong enough. But it prevents a build up of Nukes n that time period so NATO feels safe.

2. This will prevent ALMEA Being a menace to small allainces, something which NATO tries to stop. But it will not effect ALMEA that much as it has no reason to declare war.

3. This will in no way effect any nation of ALMEA

4. This means that ALMEA will become more democratic and will be able to build a new image. It also means less chance of retribution on NATO

5. This ends what started the conflict, so futre settlements are easier

6. This may hurt a bit, but it is nothing that ALMEA can't afford

7. An NAP? Big deal. The allaince is under enough protection so ALMEA can't attack, so signing an NAP is good for them as it prevents them being attacked.

Those terms are some of the fairest terms ive ever seen. I mean no offence to WUT (I love you guys) but well, in GW3 they would have demanded all a nations tech, any money it had. Sell factories, sell all war improvments, wonders. Everything. Plus having to pay very large reps. I mean your damn lucky. If I were in NATO my terms would be a lot harsher.

Interesting.

What part about 180 Days = Long is hard to understand?

Also, this is now irrelevant because ALMEA disbanded.

Interesting.

Also, this is now irrelevant because ALMEA disbanded.

So is changing teams, disbanding, losing improvements, no military, giving up tech, paying tens of millions in reps, geting a viseroy put in charge of you.

Also time might have got the 180 days changed. Maybe not.

But it is over now so it does not mater.
