The next update that I am considering is an espionage system. Espionage will work similar to the current war system, you can only perform covert actions against nations within your strength range and you cannot spy on peaceful nations. Nations would be able to purchase spies, the more spies a nation has the better their chances at mission success and counter spying. Nations would be able to peform a spy activity once ever 7 days or so. I'd like you to share your ideas about this, various espionage actions, various limits to prevent abuse, other possible issues, etc... If there is a thread on this already please link to it.

What does "countering" espionage mean? Does it simply not succeed, or does the other nation find out who did it?

I was thinking there could be 3 results of an espionage action. 1) Success. The cookies were stolen and the target does not know who stole them. 2) Failure. The cookies were not stolen but the target does not know who stole them. 3) Failure. The cookies were not stolen and the target DOES know who stole them. The more spies a nation has the better your chances of having success when you conduct a mission and providing failure when a nation attempts to peform espionage against you.

Hmmm I see quite a few GW erupting out of this...

I like the idea personally it would add more depth and such especially for tech raiders, they can steal tech and not have to declare war :o

I don't know, people would be doing it to people left in right, will their be some type of factor that puts odds on the success of the attacking nation. Also will their be like three slots our something that you can use to spy on the enemy until 7 days are up? and it then resets. What are some of the stuff esponiage would allow in the game.

Not trades, that would really destroy certain people bonus resources that they spent alot of time collecting. Also i don't like the anarchy idea, everything else is a great idea.

i don't the like the losing a trade or going into Anarchy idea, just cause of someone sending a spy. the rest is good.

do you have to be in war with that nation? what range does that nation has to be?

I don't know why anyone would really use this. If you want to hurt someone, go to war against them. If you don't or can't because he's stronger/his alliance is stronger, you won't use espionage either, because if found out, you would get your nation ZI'd.

It sounds like a great idea, but trades? That's a no-no. Trades are hard enough to find as is. Also, the rebellion thing should just cause small temporary riots. Maybe some citizens would rebel, not paying taxes for a certain amount of days.

I agree with D-BOY messing up the trades and being put in to anarchy with out being in a war. I like being able to see how much money they have on them and stealing their reserves though.

Anarchy and Trade upsetting... definitely no. And perhaps not destroying money reserves. :(
