I got an idea for improving the improvement HarborIf you have a harbor, you can buy Mercheant ships from small boats, to BIG freighters. If your tradepartner also posseses a harbor, your ships will be able to transport the resources faster and more effective. And will be able to earn the bonuses stated below. Ships cannot be destroyed in war, but youl loose them all if you destroy the Harbor. You can buy a max of 5 ships. Following ships can be bought: ( Posted Image) Barge - Cost 20,000$ Pr. Ship. Requires 300 infra & 20 Tech. Gives + 0,50 $ Citizen income pr. Ship. Upkeep cost - 200$ pr. Ship. A barge is a flat-bottomed boat, built mainly for river and canal transport of heavy goods. Most barges are not self-propelled and need to be moved by tugboats towing or towboats pushing them. Barges on canals (towed by draft animals on an adjacent towpath) contended with the railway in the early industrial revolution but were outcompeted in the carriage of high value items due to the higher speed, falling costs, and route flexibility of rail transport.( Posted Image) Coastal trading vessels - Cost 40,000$ Pr. Ship. Requires 400 infra & 30 tech. Gives + 1 $ Citizen income pr. Ship. Upkeep cost - 600$ pr. Ship. Coastal trading vessels, also known as coasters, are shallow-hulled ships used for trade between locations on the same island or continent. Their shallow hulls mean that they can get through reefs where sea-going ships usually cannot (sea-going ships have a very deep hull for supplies and trade etc.).( Posted Image) Roll-on/roll-off ships - Cost 60,000$ Pr. Ship. Requires 600 infra & 40 tech. Gives 1,5 $ Citizen income pr. Ship. Upkeep cost - 800$ pr. Ship. Roll-on/roll-off ships are cargo ships designed to carry wheeled cargo such as automobiles, trailers or railway carriages. RORO vessels have built-in ramps which allow the cargo to be efficiently "rolled on" and "rolled off" the vessel when in port. While smaller ferries that operate across rivers and other short distances still often have built-in ramps, the term RORO is generally reserved for larger ocean-going vessels.( Posted Image) Reefer ship - Cost 80,000$ Pr. Ship. Requires 800 infra & 50 tech + 1 Factory. Gives 2 $ Citizen income pr. Ship Upkeep cost - 1300$ pr. Ship. Reefer ships are cargo ships typically used to transport perishable commodities which require temperature-controlled transportation, mostly fruits, meat, fish, vegetables, dairy products and other foodstuffs.( Posted Image) Tankers - 120,000$ Pr. Ship. Requires 1200 infra & 80 tech. + 3 Factories. Gives 2,5$ Citizen income pr. Ship. Upkeep cost - 2500$ pr. Ship. Tankers are cargo ships for the transport of fluids, such as crude oil, petroleum products, liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas and chemicals, also vegetable oils, wine and other food - the tanker sector comprises one third of the world tonnage.( Posted Image) Container ships - 180,000 $ Pr. Ship. Requires 1800 infra & 150 Tech. + a Foreign Ministry & 4 Factories. Gives 3$ Citizens Income pr. Ship. Upkeep cost - 4000$ pr. Ship. Container ships are cargo ships that carry all of their load in truck-size containers, in a technique called containerization. They form a common means of commercial intermodal freight transport. Informally known as "box boats," they carry the majority of the world's dry cargo. Most container ships are propelled by diesel engines, and have crews of between 20 and 40 people. They generally have a large accommodation block at the stern, directly above the engine room. Container ships now carry up to 15,000 containers on a voyage.( Posted Image) Bulk carriers - 250,000 $ Pr. Ship. Requires 2500 infra & 250 Tech. + a Foreign Ministry & 5 Factories Gives 4$ Citizens income pr. Ship. Upkeep cost - 6000$ pr. Ship. Bulk carriers are cargo ships used to transport bulk cargo items such as ore or food staples (rice, grain, etc.) and similar cargo. It can be recognized by the large box-like hatches on its deck, designed to slide outboard for loading. A bulk carrier could be either dry or wet. Most lakes are too small to accommodate bulk ships, but a large fleet of lake freighters has been plying the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway of North America for over a century.Resources( Posted Image) Decreases cost of ships by 5% ( Posted Image) Decreases cost of ships by 8% ( Posted Image) Reduces upkeep cost of ship by 10% (Also a way to make lead better.) ( Posted Image) Decreases upkeep cost of ships by 4% Bonus Resources( Posted Image) Reduces cost of ships by 8% This post has been edited by Comrade Philip on May 2 2007, 07:31 AM

I think it's not expensive enough. 250k for a $4 boost is not enough.

An improvement which adds +2 happiness costs 75K. Since these ships have tech/infra requirements i believe the price is on the ok.

Is nice. Very nice, except I don't think you have the pic for the tanker right. It looks like a cargo carrier, but hey, a boat is a boat

Good idea! I was going to suggest an improvement or wonder with container ships. Now I don't have to. This is like buying different grades of airplanes. Nice job. :J

Actually that's really a good idea. This is one of the few suggestions that comes out of here that is worth being implemented. :J :J :J
You might need to add upkeep to them, but aside from that really good.

I like it, but maybe say that you can buy one per trade, of any kind. That would help even out the effects.

I have only two questions.
1) What is a Roll-on/roll-off ship?
2) What is a Reefer ship?
Other then those, sounds good. I voted the sea-sick one just because it sounded the best.

Odds are anything posted above is not the opinion of the LSF
