I had roughly 27k troops. I went to dismiss 14k of them and it put me to -6k soldiers....
You have 5 Barracks, 2 Guerilla Camps, as well as Pigs and other resources that increase soldier counts. When you dismiss soldiers, it dismisses your chosen number and then multiplies by the percentages, and since you have so many improvements/resources that inflate your soldier count, it ended up dismissing over twice as many as you intended.
Yeah someone already pointed that out to me. I felt really stupid when I realized what had happened. <doh>
