Title: Nations of Ascended Honor Announcement
Description: Concerning the CoAN - Valhalla War

Sir Sci - August 29, 2007 11:13 PM (GMT)
Imagine NOAH banner here

This is the single hardest announcement I have ever made.

Recently, the alliance known as Valhalla has declared war on our allies, CoAN. We have a ToA. NOAH would prefer to defend our allies, but unfortuanately, we cannot even begin to pretend that we'd be able to contend with the military force of Valhalla, so we must not engage into any military actions in support of CoAN.

However, NOAH places its full and unwaivering support of CoAN. Valhalla's reason for war was pathetic, and entirely a war mongering attempt to remove a purple alliance from their sphere.
NOAH wishes to apologise to our allies for not being able to help them.

Although we do not wish to pick members of CoAN off, and Overlord Jim and Lady Cierra understand this as we have talked extensively, Valhalla has told us that if any CoAN members wish to join NOAH that all hostile actions shall cease. Although we will accept them, we ask that no CoAN members leave their alliance because of this unless they leave respectfully from CoAN and in good graces with Lady Cierra and Jim. Hold strong, CoAN. Your ideals of Loyalty, Justice, and Honor shall live on.

Best Regards,

Sir Sci
NOAH Director of the Congregation

good decision

did valhalla post a public DoW?

Dave Johns - August 29, 2007 11:39 PM (GMT)
Not to my knowledge. They just attacked, full tilt. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I dont think there was ever a real DoW.

I am wondering this as well. It's not like these are no-name alliances we've never heard of. Wars don't usually pass under my radar unless that is the case...and even then.

Uhtred - August 29, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
There was no reason for this to be a war, all CoAN had to do was agree to stop insulting us.

Dave Johns - August 29, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)

I would like to get a list of what words we can, and cannot use in discussions with alliances who are bigger than us. Just so I dont say something improper.

How did they insult you? This is the CN forums, if it werent for trolling, flames, insults, and thinly veiled threats, there wouldnt be anything to say.

But destroying an alliance over a percieved insult. Thats plain wrong, and you know it. A warning shot? sure. Sending a 3 on 1 midnight blitz with no warning? A little over the top IMO. Now, credit where credit is due; it was a perfectly executed attack I must say. You managed to anarchy 18 out of 20 nations before 1 am. Of course, you are (were) 10 times their size.

All this over a percieved insult? how about diplomacy? Get mad on the boards, chew them out, ask nicely, any of those?

Just curious.

Dave Johns you need to fix that quote, I never said it. And yes we did ask them and warn them to stop.

I'm curious, what exactly did the members of CoAN say to Valhalla? If it's none of my business, I apologize, but I can't decide on a stance unless I know the whole situation.

I havent found any other topics where LC or Jim trolled. Perhaps someone in valhalla can help.

Invicta watch out! :P
anyways my .02 cents.
Attacking an alliance just because of an insult is just plain wrong, Valhalla, to me, are throwing their weight around and sooner or later this little strategy may come out to bite them. Furthermore, since I seem to be obsessing over Valhalla stats for around 3 months, I've seen them remain stagnant at ~90 members, they go up, then suddenly over one night 15 members drop out.

First of all, Legion war was fully justified. They spyied, knew about it, tried to cover it up with shakkespear like logs, and then lied about it. Now, we gave CoAN warning that they were stepping in dangerous territory with their constant flaming. You go look for a Valhalla announcement, and there is a 95% chance that Jon or LC got to it, and began flaming the "tryant" for his actions. MDAP with \m/, they flamed. DoW with Legion, they flamed. They even flamed us in Legion's shakespear logs thread.

If you insult an alliance expect to deal with the consequences. Some will ignore you, some will troll you some will destroy you. Any alliance leadership that comes here and publicly insults or allows it members to insult a more powerful alliance deserves what they get. We have seen happen time and time again. Do not talk the talk unless you plan on walking the walk.

And what is the definition of "no-namer"? Time in game, size, whether they are your friends?

Please clarify.

OVERLORDIkaru - August 30, 2007 12:48 AM (GMT)
It doesn't matter how many times they insulted you. Did they ever commit any action that can be seen as agressive towards your alliance aside from the insults? Not once has anything like that been mentioned anywhere. In which case, ignoring them would seem to be the wiser option. This war has sent Valhalla's reputation down the drain, and I think most alliances will be treating Valhalla with a little less respect now.

The above statement is my own personal opinion, and does not represent my alliance's point of view on it.

In the end, I must sadly remark that those who started this conflict got the worst of it. You don't throw your opinions like stones, no matter how true or false they may be, because in this world, they aren't harder then a paper ball, which still, thrown in the wrong area of the body, at the wrong man, in the wrong moment, can trigger unexpected effects.
