Title: College
Description: And multiple users per network
HeroofTime55 - August 25, 2007 05:46 AM (GMT)
Well, last I remember, the rules prohibited multiple users per network. I'm going to college in a few days. I don't see how this is gioing to work out. College networks are big. And I have a friend at the same college with whom I plan to launch an alliance with. That, and apparently, the RIT network (that's where I'm off too) assigns a random IP every time you connect, furthering the chances of a match. And there's no way I'm having someone sit my nation for the duration of the year.
So, what the heck am I supposed to do? I guess the only thing I CAN do is ask a mod or admin to be especially understanding and give me an exception in this case, but beyond that, I'm afraid I might get screwed by the multiple anti-cheating rules. And I don't want to lose a nation I paid $60 to get where it's at.
Please, help.

invest in your own satelite connection... there will be no exeptions, so sorry, you have to either chance, see if you can get a uniqe IP adress from your uni of just not log on

Basically as the guy above said, you
cannot no matter what, have another person on the same network. Also, there is no exception to the rules. Sorry.

It's not literally multiple users per network, in the sense that the OP is thinking of, I think. It's multiple users per IP address that are banned.
If it was multiple users per network, then only one user would be allowed from all of Comcast, one from my ISP, etc... :)

Just dont log in. Then after 20 days try to go to someones house or somewhere besides the college network and log on. Just do it every 20 days or so. So you dont get deleted. I had the same problem and didnt get much help from the mods for asking this.

Added a "what should I do" poll for the lulz.
Also, it turns out, each network in RIT consists of half a floor in the dorms. So as long as noone nearby me also plays CN, I think I should be fine. I mean, the mod staff checks for all the criteria to be a match, right? ...I am right, am I? Or am I totally %@#*ed?
Oh man, this sucks. I know aids will be flagged for cheating probably every now and then, but will I really be deleted now that it's obvious I'm not a multi? If the mods need any evidence from me as proof that I'm a unique user from everyone else playing the game, I'll provide...

Are you connecting from a hard-line or wireless?
If its wireless, don't.
If its a hard-line, you should be ok. Get connecting, log-in once and PM a game mod to get the IP checked. There is a good chance you'll be fine in that case, not to mention your situation will be on record if there is an accidental collision, so if it only happens once or twice and you've PMed a mod to explain you'll be ok (do correct me if I'm wrong on that last bit).

Yes, I'll probably be connecting via an ethernet cable or whatever. This solution is perfect. Thank you very much, this is what I'll go with.
Many thanks :)

you could teach your parents how to collect the taxes, pay bills, and buy infra?

You'll be fine. Just don't interact with people on your network in-game (aid, trades, wars, etc) and you won't have a problem. Oh, and don't create multiple nations too.
