Title: Bring back CN: Tournament Edition!

Samuel Sagan - August 19, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
Why was it discontinued in the first place? War is basically the centerpiece of Cybernations, but to really enjoy war most of us would lose everything we worked to build (in terms of alliances, not just nations) and the fun would quickly run out. CNT was an excellent way to experience total war without experiencing total loss.

Please bring back CN Tournament!

Squintus - August 19, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
It was discontinued due to lack of interest, iirc.

Wow.

I was going to join in on round two -- didn't feel like getting in to it at the end of a round (when I noticed it existed).

invasion - August 19, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
I thought it was taken down due to a combination of server load / admin not having time / lack of interest from cn users

Moenet - August 19, 2007 09:53 PM (GMT)
i believe admin had said before, that noone wanted to donate to a game that reset.

Of course not.

Why is that a surprise?

I didn't think that was the point of CN:TE...

Surely he makes more than enough on CN alone though, right?

I'm sure there would be a lot more interest now that it hasn't been around for a while. Alliances just need to realize how good of a boot camp experience it is for their nations.

Italyfan2006 - August 19, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
I voted yes, but now that I think about it, I would rather have admin work on regular CN instead of making another one.

CN:TE doesn't really require development. It's just a copy of CN (minus peace mode) with a reset cycle.

That doesn't take away CN's development. If anything it will help development of war since CN:TE is basically 24/7 mayhem.

Archangel - August 20, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
I have to agree with CN Tournament restoration it is the best what it does is bring a new sense of balance to the world of CN. every nation starts off as an equal at the beginning of the tournament and well the rest is up to the ruler of his or her nation to manage their nation. Please think about it.

PlasmoDesmata - August 20, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
not that i know anything about coding, but since the game is the same minus foreign aid, would it be really hard to bring back, or is the server a problem?

King Death II - August 20, 2007 05:32 AM (GMT)
hmm i like this idea. voted yes

Samuel Sagan - August 20, 2007 07:35 AM (GMT)
To those who voted no I'd love to hear your reasoning. :P

Same here.

Jebbie - August 20, 2007 08:23 AM (GMT)
Oh god yes

Junkalunka - August 20, 2007 08:32 AM (GMT)
Love to try out tournament.

Actually, it would be really cool if you could copy your real CN nation over and start killin dudes. Perhaps have a change your name option so what happens there stays there. Also maybe have different NS brackets (i.e. 0-1000, 1000-5000, 5000-20000, etc.)

jaketopia - August 20, 2007 11:49 AM (GMT)
I would very much enjoy playing a short period version of cybernations such as TECN.

A Generic Noob - August 20, 2007 12:24 PM (GMT)
Yes, I would like to see CN:TE be brought back.

I'm tired of the [demented] politics in CN.

Lord Sharpe - August 20, 2007 01:44 PM (GMT)
I would get in on that, I wasn't in on it last time.

John Michaels - August 20, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
I didn't get in early enough so I decided to wait for Round Two, which never came. :/

bowlingfriend - August 20, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
ya, i didnt want to try something right away and then when i decided to join i had to wait for the non-existant rd 2

Mnemnoth Blackclaw - August 20, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
I think CN:TE could be a valuable tool for Admin to test new ideas.

For instance, the upcoming changes to add spying features could be worked out and play-tested in CN:TE before they are released into the main game (where many people DO pay to play).

This ^ .

But I can understand admin's concerns, not enough money to pay for a new server that makes no money at all.

Captain Ian - August 20, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
I was also waiting for round 2

LinkManDX - August 20, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
I was one of those people that found TE too late to join round one, so I waited for round two. I am still waiting.

Vote yes.

Drai - August 21, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
I'd rather he update regular CN as often as he could then spend time on CN:TE

What time does he need to spend on it? Just some initial setup, which is fairly easy since the game is almost exactly the same as CN.

Eh, I wouldn't care for that. It's more fun when everyone is on a level playing field.

Joque Straap - August 21, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
I missed the first one. Would have loved to do the second, if it ever came.

Elbows - August 22, 2007 08:36 AM (GMT)
I joined towards the end of round one. :( Bring it baaack!

Confederate - August 22, 2007 08:41 AM (GMT)
i would rather see him Push more into updates on the warring system CN uses rather then waste time on CN:TE.

BwickFS39 - August 22, 2007 11:54 PM (GMT)
There was a post like this a few month ago I think.

Unless there's something I'm not thinking of, CN:TE wastes no time at all.

Truhijo - August 23, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
there was a forum poll on this, and the poll saw some 900+ voters, more than any forum poll, in a lo0ng time. and guess what, 90+% people said yes. Admin closed the topic before it reached 1,000, was deeply impressed with the voter turn out, said he would definitely think about it, and he ended up putting it on the back burner, and nothing happened.

I'm all for CN:TE, that way I can channel some aggression out, and play with a nation that doesn't have crappy ass base resources.

Or use CN:TE to experiment with things.

I wouldn't care if he used it to put through random changes initially to see how they work and then later added them to regular CN. I doubt most would care.

I proposed that a long time ago.

Well hopefully this will serve as a little reminder. ;)

Voted a BIG YES! I don't understand why The Admin (in all his wisdom and power) would make a game like Trukz, when CN:TE is much more valuable to his original game (CN) and the community. I loved it, it was awesome! Please bring it back! <present>

sparta - August 25, 2007 06:50 AM (GMT)
big yes for me. i would love to just attack any nation without worrying about mine.
