The Rules
1. Do not make repeat threads involving pro/anti *insert person*. This forum is for politcal debate and current news, it is not a forum for you to express how much you like/hate someone.
2. Use sources to support your views or discredit someone.
If someone says: "It is inhumane to let old people live"
And you disagree with it, then respond with your views of the subject along with a source that supports it. You should always try to use statistic's, online news' sites, and any other credible sources when trying to make your point. Do not use biased sources in your post(s).
3. Do not start a topic which your post contains only a link or the story copied and pasted. You must provide some type of explanation in your post explaining the article and your views.
4. When posting about real world affairs, or breaking news, be sure to post a link to the story so others may read it. You may copy the story and quote it, but you must have a link to the story in question along with an explanation.
5. Do not flame others who have a different opinion then you. We all have the right to our own opinions. We ask you to respect individual opinions and not to ridicule others for their beliefs or ideas.
6. You are not permitted to prevent people from posting in your thread unless they are being disruptive (and certainly never whole groups). If they are being disruptive, please report individuals to the moderation team.
Thanks to The Moderator for helping and supporting the making of these rules. |
Im tired of the flaming that goes back and forth between capitalists and communists, apparently the moderators can do nothing about this even though it violates rule #5 of the room. Also a lot of the threads lately are being driven off topic by people who are intent to pursue a personal vendetta against an ideology by pinning that ideology onto whoever doesnt agree with them. IMO its quite dishonest but if this is how the moderation team wants the room run then change the rules to reflect that.

Well, I think the whole "it is their opinion so it is not flaming" justification for ignoring clear rules violations is nonsense as it pretty much applies to anything considered a flame.

Indeed, he probably thinks I am targeting right wingers because I am "worthless freeloading scum" so my report should be ignored. At the very least the moderator should tkae a look at that thread and notice how it was dragged off topic and give a warn for that.
My last warning I was warned for posting a link to a video which was deemed "off topic" even though it had no effect on the discussion, an entire thread is taken off topic for multiple pages and no warning, I call bullcrap.

If you feel that a member of the moderation staff is not handling your report properly you should contact a senior moderator via P.M. If this does not get you satisfactory results you contact a lead moderator via P.M. and they will investigate your complaint. What you do NOT do is claim that they are biased in this thread because you disagreed with the ruling. If I see another post claiming moderator bias in this thread you will catch a warning for it.
Asking for a rule change like you have and taking a shot at the staff will not achieve anything positive. I will not lock this because I think that a senior member of the staff should handle this as the Boiler Room is not under my Jurisdiction.

I tend to agree that trolling is rampant within the Boiler Room. Heated debate is one thing, and I love it, but when someone goes out of their way and out of the way of the topic to take a shot at a large group even when what they're saying is only remotely related then something should be done. I don't care what end of the spectrum it is because frankly, both annoy the bajeesus out of me.
While I'm not sure that warnings are always necessary, especially considering the nature of the Boiler Room, I think some friendly moderator reminders can go a long way. Unfortunately every time something is reported it's seen as either warnable or not warnable, and with the Boiler Room making a decision either way tends to cause counter-reports and yelling and screaming and kicking and whining.
All-in-all everything I've said really has no point!

Closed at author's request then. Should you change your mind after you have had a chanced to calm yourself and you still would like to discuss it with the staff or the rest of the community then let me know and I will reopen it for you.
