Title: Warns for joke threads
Description: In the OWF

andyt2k - July 24, 2007 06:09 PM (GMT)
It's simple enough, ban all joke DoW's, pacts, polls and general posts.

The open world forums are IC and I don't think their should be joke threads, pretending to hate an alliance, pretending to love them.

It's just getting bored of not knowing what's going on because people are messing around in the OWF.

I think these threads should be immediately locked and the poster warned.

I agree with this, the joke threads detract from the discourse in CN and ultimately make a parody of the game for serious players. The culprits here include many large alliances, but regardless, jokes are disrespectful to the community at large and especially the RP community. IC nations would never joke about something as meaningful as a DoW.

No way man, joke threads are hilarious user posted image

Its a game people. Thats how those people choose to play the game or "RP" the game. I think it is fun.

Arouet: Who are you to tell us how to roleplay our nations? If our nations' leaders are being played as demented psychopaths who think that joke declarations of war or nuking peole for laughs is the way forward, kindly react IC to that. To do otherwise is to dictate limits on our roleplaying for nothing more than your personal preference in tone, which is more or less precisely what you're trying to complain about.

I like the funny stuff.

If they are aloud I think they should have to have a mandatory *****JOKE THREAD***** tag in them, even if it seems obvious, because people do go to wars for stupid reasons, so sometimes it is hard to tell if something is serious or not.

Take the recent situation with GPA, have any alliances actually pulled out of the DoN with GPA and why, because lot's of people are replying with random comments, other people are saying it's a joke. I think it's getting out of hand.

That wasnt a joke. It was a serious situation, treaties were cancelled, and the GPA managed through diplomatic efforts to defuse the situation.

If they want to call it a 'joke' after the fact to dismiss the gravity of it.. its up to them.

Indeed, it was completely serious.

I was just using that as one example, I think my point still stands

How about we ban all members of GOONS, \m/ and Genmay?

Because you might as well. :((

The OWF is OOC, champ.

And this is the crux of the problem with this suggestion. The OWF is not ruled IC or OOC, and is thus both.

Also, the more important problem -- joke threads rock.

king_srqt - July 26, 2007 04:14 AM (GMT)
Also if you remember right before the FAN war there was a member of FAN creating a thread saying that war was coming it was shunned as a joke and even locked.

Also some jokes actually evolve from the reactions people have to serious announcements (see the \m/ GPA situation) \m/ took their signature off the DoN people started crying war so \m/ played along. The OP should not be warned in that situation because their was a clear and serious intent but the thread clearly turned into a joke.

:(( JOKE THREADS :((
They bring happiness to those who otherwise find the forums boring.

Warfunn - July 27, 2007 04:26 PM (GMT)
Also a point of a joke thread is to spread false info. In what war did people not use counter intell or false intell to throw off their foes?

Joke threads should be allowed, it should be up to each person/alliance to be able to determind if it is real or not.

Joke threads that contribute nothing at all or amount to basically nothing but spam are currently not allowed.

Liberal_Extinction - July 28, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
To the OP, stop trying to take ALL the fun out of a >>> GAME <<< (important word right thar!!!).

Are there going to be some lame joke threads if they are allowed, sure there are. To hell with trying to make a game 100% SPR SRS BZNS! Lighten up and have some fun with the GAME.
