Title: Alliances & Teams

admin - February 9, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)
Alliances - Alliances are player created groups managed outside the game. Alliances offer player protection during wars, organized strategies in game, increased player interaction, and often offsite forums and communities of their own. There are no hard coded benefits in the game to being part of a player created alliance. Many of the player created alliances attempt to gain “control” over particular teams. This gives the various alliances a color identity and an opportunity to gain happiness by trading with one another in the game. There are a few in game screens in the World Statistics page that provide statistics and detail player created alliances. Visit the Cyber Nations alliance forums for more information.

Alliance score is determined by the following equation
(alliance nations / totalnations * 1000) + (alliance strength / 100000)

Teams – In the game teams are open to all players. Teams provide nations on the game maps with an identifying color based on the available teams: Aqua, White, Red, Green, Brown, Blue, Purple, Orange, Maroon, Black, Yellow, Pink, None (Grey). Teams provide an added dynamic to the game by allowing team members who trade with one another an extra population happiness point. Being a member of an in game team that is “controlled” by an alliance does not mean that you are a member of that particular alliance. Visit the Cyber Nations team forums for more information.

Teams are used for trading. Trading with the team grants you a +1 to population happiness. At the moment that's all they do pretty much, though certain alliances are one team only or ask for a reason to not be the main team. At the moment it's pretty much

GATO- brown
NPO- Red
NAAC- blue
The Legion- purple
ODN- Orange

You don't have to belong to an alliance to be in a team though.

Senate elections give three members of your team the ability to see extra info on members of your own team as well as boosts to thier pop happiness. THis is why alliances attempt to dominate a team and get thier members into that team.

Can the color gold be added for UCS? :))

Your alliance first must satisfy the requirements. If you have a roster of 20 nations or more PM Moderation or myself.

Edward Kirnovsky - February 24, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
What's the UCS? Felipe is a green, comme moi, so if it's the green team alliance, I'm in.

He did write in English, only two words of it was in French.
By the way: Pen's and pro's of bein' in a "none"-team? And no "none"-teams stick togheter, or are they independant of each-other or do they ironically, against it's meaning, for a "grey team", whether or not they want it? ;)

OND? What alliance is that?

Anyways, like I said elsewhere, joining the ODN makes you an instant target. Do not join ODN if you do not want a war that you are likely to lose.

And don't spam adverts. I didn't know that the ODN was that despirate.

Dominus Caesar - March 25, 2006 11:41 PM (GMT)
How do you change the color of your Forum name to your team color?

You must join your team's major alliance, be accepted, and have a (higher) moderator change it.

GunshySlycat1 - March 26, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
I should've chose "None" - No way to change your nations color I bet, huh? ;)

You may change team affiliation easily. Go to your CN page, click edit your nation and then change it to the desired team color. Best of luck.

GunshySlycat1 - March 26, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
Yup. I figured that one out. I may join a team at a later date, I just want to get settled in the game first and I'll see what happens.

Why does joining the ODN make one an instant target (at least in IC)? just curious.

Kaselande - April 1, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
Because ODN is getting their butt whooped by the NPO.

An ODN member (though not active) nuked a NPO member in the first (or second) nuking of the game. That nation got owned but the ODN didn't appologize and so the NPO attacked the ODN and defeated all but the leadership (in peace mode). Much of the ODN left, but those who remained in the ODN (besides those in peace mode) are fighting the NPO without surrendering, despite heavy ODN losses.

Shouldn't most wars like that already be over?

Not if the ODN doesn't surrender. Basically the only ODNers left unharmed are those too low to attack (ie. newbies) and leadership that went into peace mode.

bundesland - April 1, 2006 03:21 AM (GMT)
But it's been more than five days since the war started, so wouldn't those wars be over?

Pius XIII - April 1, 2006 03:44 AM (GMT)
Obviously the ODN continues the battling.

Pingu - April 1, 2006 03:51 AM (GMT)
Obviously we do. We attack and defend. We give and take damage. Usually the next set of wars start before the previous ones have all expired, so the wars are more or less continuous. There are NPO losses too, of course. NPO declared the war won on day one, and here we still are more than a month later. And, as you well know, Pius, not all our leaders are in peace mode.

Note to newcomers: NAAC members are not usually a source of unbiased information on matters relating to NPO and ODN.

Pius XIII - April 1, 2006 03:54 AM (GMT)
Yes, but ODNers are even less unbiased. By the posts, I meant to say that the only nations unaffected are certain members of your leadership in peace mode and those too low to be attacked. I cannot recommend people joining the ODN because that would be recommending them to join a war, and that is a decision that would have to be made by each individual orange nation.

PlutonianEmpire - April 1, 2006 04:10 AM (GMT)
Ahh. I get it now. thanks. :)

QUOTE (Pius XIII @ Mar 31 2006, 10:54 PM)
Yes, but ODNers are even less unbiased.

Of course. Even a newcomer would not expect an ODN or NPO member to be unbiased on the conflict. But they would not necessarily be aware of the close ties between NAAC and NPO, hence my need to point it out.

Lord Elbowman - April 1, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
Argh! I just picked a random team to start with, but now Im in confusion. No Team for me...

Pius XIII - April 1, 2006 10:02 PM (GMT)
Just do blue.

Ralian Provinces - April 1, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
No, red is best.

Pius XIII - April 1, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
Blue is best. Then red. Then brown. Then purple. Then green. Then orange.
