This month's challenge will appeal to those of you who ask "what if"? I'm sure that in your exploits, you have run across something that you didn't like how it was resolved.

For example, I will put it here (likely what I'm going to do) that I am a huge Power Rangers fan. The main characters have changed over the years, especially in the first six seasons while they were continuous in plot. But I never liked how they treated the change-over, especially of the originals, who I grew up with.

Well...

What if they never left? What if the six main Rangers stayed as a singular team throughout all the strife? How would it change things, the team dynamic, the personalities, the character development? A good question, and one that might take a fanfiction to work out.

So, I've just given away my punchline. This month's challenge, while only a short one (cue the groans) is a fanfiction.

Because ANY thing that has a following can spawn a fanfiction, I must ask for some simple guidelines:

1) Please make the fiction understandable to all, even the least-likely fan of said show or idea that you make a fanfiction from.
2) If you see a need to explain yourself (or the base idea), go ahead and post it. The other readers might be glad you did. Because you can't assume that everybody watches all the same things you do!
3) Fanfiction is realistically a loose term. So let me specify by being more vague: if you want to compose an original-ish work merely using said idea as a template, that is okay.
For example, if I want to call a team of costumed heroes Power Rangers, but not use characters from the actual show, that qualifies as well. Of course, the usual "what if" fanfiction is also accepted.

I hope that this stimulates the inner critic in all of us and inspires some great stories! Hey, maybe you can even find a few converts to your base idea from this month.

Happy writing!
