Title: Banlist
Description: Someone's on crack.

Obvious problem. WeskerKiller. Merlinmage. Thoonios. Bumble and various other rippers. All of them being able to come back and grief/steal from the game and access the forums. What are you doing, Smash? Why did you wipe the banlist?

because those are 4 people out of more than 50. they can easily be rebanned.

why should 40 other people who possibly deserve another chance be punished for the actions of 10 or so people?

Warlord Fred - August 22, 2011 01:20 AM (GMT)
There were over 140 keys in the perm ban list before it was wiped.

Masterdarwin88 - August 22, 2011 07:04 PM (GMT)
I doubt all those people deserved there bans. But I also doubt that there are 140 seperate people. If you I.P Ban someone and they try to log in as a guest or in an alt, they will pop up in the banlist. So let's cut that list in half.

70 people. Alright. Let's say that about 20 of them are griefers and constant trouble makers. Then about another 20 for the rippers and Cowed suppourters. And finally, another 20 for the trolls, flammers, spammers, and REPEAT repeat offenders.

That leaves 10 possible people (Bad estimating on my part, but I'm thinking rationally) who MIGHT deserve a second chance, correct? Because, according to Smash, no one gets banned for a bad/no reason. So tell me. How can "40" people be innocent? Are you guys THAT trigger-happy with the ban button? No self-control? Or maybe you let what people say or do get to you? Idc. That isn't the problem. You wouldn't need to wipe the banlist if you actually banned the right people.

there are still 140 keys. possibly take off 25-30 keys due to multikeys, if this is even the case. i would say 110 keys there of single keyed people, and 15 more people with two keys, making up the 30. so, let's say 125 people out of 40. subtract 20 from 125 you get 105, 20 from that is 85. 40 people against 85. the latter wins by more than double

you can't just subtract the multikeyers from the list because they have more than one key. if there are 70 keys from multikeyers, that automatically makes 35 more people, given they all have only 2 keys. so even given YOUR estimation, there would be 105 people in there. 40 vs 65, again the latter wins.

Anyways, Drake, I know my estimations are pretty bad. But let's look at it realistically. No way that more than 10 or 20 people out of those 140+ were banned wrongfully. Unless you are admitting to it.

i haven't admitted to anything, except for the incident with mason. he was banned unjustly by me, but there were no objections within the admin team, and most i've spoken to have agreed with me. not that i am in any rank of power to give "permission", but i've told all of the admins that i've spoken to, to tell me if they think he should be unbanned, or feel free to unban him. nobody has confronted me about it besides vee, and he isn't an admin.

secondly, when does thinking that majority of the people banned deserve another chance out of months of being banned even imply admittance to banning somebody wrongfully? you yourself said that multiple people deserve another chance, so that in itself is contradictory to your beliefs.

Izen - August 22, 2011 09:09 PM (GMT)
People who were banned and should still be banned will be banned again.
People who were banned and have reformed will not be banned.
People who were banned but shouldn't have been banned won't be banned. (Assuming that 140+ people were banned and the fact that we all are humans, a few mistake could have been made. There is no shame in admitting that. It's not like we sentenced someone to death like courts tend to do wrongfully)

Other than some short-term strife, this will all settle out, and things will be better.

The only possible way to properly ensure we only ban the "right people" by every possible standard is to not ban anyone at all, so unless you like a swarm of n00bs everywhere, would you kindly shut the fuck up?

Masterdarwin88 - August 22, 2011 10:36 PM (GMT)
Truthfully, I would rather have 40 more noobs to slaughter than have only 20- people on a day. I only brought up this topic because of how hypocritical it is of you to wipe it after only... what? 4 months? Maybe a bit more or less? I'm probably wrong on the date, but what? 140+ keys in a few months? That's pretty poor moderating going on there.

Admins aren't on all the time. Xerif or Bumble could easily login when they see no one is online on the hub and then begin to steal artwork/analyze various parts of the gameplay to duplicate in their own copies/rips (I.E Mining and Fishing). And there is also the fact of spammers coming to crash the server and stuff. It isn't as hardcore as when Gary and Savato were out crashing rips and Cowed copy servers, but you can't deny that there are still people like that out there who are more than willing to fry Warren's comp.

Oh, and I won't shut up till you stop dodging my questions and actually give me a straight answer. It wasn't that annoying the first time but, really, it's truley pathetic, because it gives me the right to believe that either you are lying or don't have an answer. Maybe if you actually read my post before replying, you could come at me in an intelligent way so that I can see your side of the debate clearly and either agree or disagree.

But then again, none of you are dignified like that. Fred being one of the few exceptions. So, unless Smash or Vee wants to come and flame me, you can shut the fuck up and lock this topic before enough people read it to realize that almost all of you have abused your powers in one way or another.

You seem to be forgetting the fact that this is a game about cows. Were you not so ignorant, or actually played the game more often, you'd see that people come on weekly to ridicule it and run a muck solely based on the fact that they don't care, due to the silly/ridiculous setting of the game. Walk a mile in our shoes and see how you cope with the bullshit that we endure. Banning is a suitable punishment for people who only ridicule and criticize us or the game. You have no fucking place to say how we are at our jobs due to blind assumptions.

Shit happens, people will break rules. The fact that we aren't there all the time to see it is, in a way, unfortunate, but it is COMPLETELY out of the question, and even more of an injustice than banning people for small reasons, to keep everybody banned for the actions of a few. As Izen said, people who deserved to be banned will be banned again. Our judgment hasn't changed since the ban wipe, I'm sure, so your argument is based on no ground.

You JUST said that not 140 people were banned, and even attempted to slim down the number to 70 due to multikeyers. Now you are criticizing our actions because 140+ people were banned in a matter of months. Stop contradicting yourself. You are criticizing us for banning people, and again criticizing us for not keeping people banned. Kindly make up your fucking mind.

I did read your posts. I was thoroughly confused by whether or not you want us to ban you or stick you in a pen with a thousand griefers. It's FAIRLY obvious that you sympathize with n00bs and griefers as opposed to the people who actually run the game and keep it free of those people as the only arguments you have that make any sense and don't contradict themselves are ad hominem.

You seem to be in support of both extremes of the argument. On the one hand, you support letting everyone run amok because admins are remotely capable of mistakes and might ban people who don't deserve it. On the other hand, you support permanently banning anyone who so much as looks at us funny. You are failing to consider that the currently implemented system WORKS.

I love how Darwin is arguing perm bans should be forever when he was permed like 3 times.

Masterdarwin88 - August 22, 2011 11:53 PM (GMT)
Doesn't work for everyone. And I don't agree with both extremes. I'm looking at it from both sides. Read my post again. I am argueing on Smash's descision to wipe the banlist. But I counter one of your arguements by saying:

QUOTE
"I'd rather have 40 griefers than play with the regular 20- people"

Or something along those lines. It does not mean that I want griefers or noobs back. If you had read my post, you would see that I am clearly against the wipe and unbanning of everyone. If you choose to ban me even though I have not broken the rules in making this post and even though I am speaking with you in more polite way, then so be it. Once again, I could truley care less.

Oh, but then I'm a hypocrite? Trying to help/destroy a game I don't even play. Before you say that, Look at Izen. Then shut up.

Back to the original arguement, since you all like using your little clauses to confuse the topic and make it more likely that someone will lock this and, therefore, save you from embarrassment. I disagree with Smash's descision for two reasons, and those two only.

- Rippers, Griefers, and other "Constant/Repeat" offenders are allowed another shot at a game at which they only want to destroy and/or troll. Mason is not among the worse of them, yet Drake chooses to ban him if he even so much as logs in. Now who's the hypocrite, mr.moderaturs? Allowing people like Bumble and Fufu back in but not Mason? Ha ha.

- People who DO deserve the second, third, etc. chance might not come back. Or, if they do, they will be negative towards the game and the administrators because of the wrongful/biased actions taken against them. That is your fault and the fault of yours alone.

So, with those two reasons in mind, answer this question. Why NOT do something else, like cherry picking through the list for people who are 'Innocent, Maybe, I don't know, or "Banned for Life"? Or something similar? Then, you could take action acoordingly and give the correct people access to the game and not people who wish to see it die.

I like how you can't even follow your own rules, Smash. Remember, stay on topic, mr.moderatur.

If you want to bring up the ripped bussiness and everything else you have against me, then don't waste your time and ban me now. If not, stop acting like a child and actually answer my question. If you cannot, then you are wrong and I am right. Then again, I won't know if you're lying, so it doesn't matter what I think. Since I'm unofficially banned (Or however you spell that darn word), it won't matter if I'm right, since you hold the ban hammer over me like pure blackmail.

I can see the message behind what you said, Smash. "Continue this and you will be banned, Darwin." Then do it. I haven't done anything wrong that warrants a ban. Or, at least, not anything that hasn't already dealt with. You cannot warn me because this is MY flaming topic which, apparently, has turned on myself. If you break your own rules Smash, then it's evident that what I think about the current administrator team is right.

Maybe you are a tyrant like Data. Or maybe a quitter like Bovine. Or you are just Smash the Abuser.

I am the only one who banned Mason solely because of my personal vendetta with him, and because of what he's said. Nobody else did, it is my problem alone. Also, what the fuck? Bumble and Fufu haven't logged in yet, so your argument is, again, baseless. You are putting words in our mouths and taking the fact that I banned somebody wrongfully to make you seem right. Kind of a pathetic tactic, but whatever.

Since when is having forgiveness and lenience abusive and wrong? That's my question. Maybe instead of saying "answer my question", actually ask one.

They have a copy of Cowed's source, why would they duplicate code of what they already have a similar version of. They wouldn't steal the turf and such seeing how Xerif's ultimate goal is to make a game with original icon work with Cowed's shitty code with a few mods under it. Artwork is also the biggest giveaway that a game is ripped. So you're examples pretty much fall apart.

Also, you can't "fry" a person's computer through a byond game, you can crash a server yes, but doing severe damage to the actual computer doesn't happen.

Warlord Fred - August 23, 2011 02:33 AM (GMT)
The fact is that when people break the rules, they will get banned, even after the banlist is cleared.

Clearing the banlist isn't saying "Hey trolls, come troll Cow RP!". It's saying "You're getting another chance, but if you break the rules you're banned again." And if they break the rules, we'll ban them. If they don't, we have another player who can enjoy Cow RP with everyone else. And that's better for everyone.

Clearing the banlist brings short-term strife, but ultimately it brings benefit to everyone.

I Agree with Fred, This is how I see the reason for the ban list being wiped, and if the people that were on the ban list come back to do the same thing they were banned for, they will get banned again, but if they come back because they learned their lesson and won't do it again, good for them.

Thank you for this extremely constructive post.

I'll turn this spotlight to you, Warp.

Other than your obvious horrible grammar and bad attitude, you have issues. Why do you even bother coming here anymore?

I didn't really get to know warp that well. I thought he was a pretty nifty guy until he got removed. Even though it was unfair, it wasn't that much to worry about. But then he gets this huge ego and starts spewing crap everywhere. Almost as bad as what I did. Really. If you cannot control yourself, Warp, and be polite enough to speak with me as if we are both intelligent homo sapiens, then please refrain from posting in my topics.

Or I'll just continue to troll you.
