Raegan took a seat inside one of the gazebos. She had a feeling that it was going to rain. Should that be the case, she wanted to be in the spot most covered. Inside the building not being an option for her.She did not really have a problem with rain. It was actually one of her all time favorite things. However she did not want to have to go back to her dorm any time soon. So she decided that being soaking wet was not in her best interest, being as that would just speed up the process of her heading that way. Maybe when it got closer to that time when she needed to head back she would, but not now. She also did not feel that getting all of her stuff wet was a good idea either. She had her messanger back which was full of all her school work, and she was not in the mood for any of it to be damaged. She did not want to have to explain why she is late with things she usually has in early. Things were already bad, no need to add more onto the wreckage.

Early today she had called home, like she does once a week to talk to her family. When she finally spoke with her brother she had gotten the news that he was engaged to Selene, his girlfriend of the past two years that Raegan had never really liked but put up with her, hoping that one day he would come to his senses and find someone better for himself. The worst part about this dreadful news was that they had announced it to everyone else a month ago. She had called at least three times since then and no one told her. Her brother, who had been her best friend since she was born, had said he did not tell her because he was afraid that she would not approve. As true as that may be, he should not have kept this from her. That was not what friends did, that was not what family did, they did not keep secrets. It wasn't to spare Kendra either, it was because he was afraid. It was because of him and his uncertanties that he did not tell her. It made her so angry that she hung up the phone with him. Hopefully that would send him the message that he had messed up with her, worse then he ever had before.

Raegan turned up the music on her ipod. It was the only thing that she had bought for herself. She had to babysit for an entire month just to afford it and then a friend of hers from back home had loaded it with some music. She was glad she had it. Music was one of the only things that could keep her calm when things were out of control. Though it was not always that affective. It made the blows she through out not so intense and much easier to handle. At least she noticed that it happened that way. She was glad that she had something to lean on in times of need. To bad that something was not alive and didn't work half of the time. Which sucked but it was her fault for dropping the damn thing a while back. Which was just about enough to make her angry in and of itself. The thing cost her everything she made, but had enough music on it to last her a few months, or days at the least. Though she was not constantly listening to it, being as they made her take her headphones out in ever single class. It did not bother her though, being as she was grateful to be here and was not going to ruin that for herself just to listen to some music. Yes music was important but it was not enough to make her give up something she had worked so hard for.

She sat down inside of the gazebo and turned up herheadphones. She drowned out all of the anger she was having with some extra loud music blarring into her ears. It was all she could think to do at the moment. Though for some reason this time was one of those times where the music was not helping. It was not making the pain and the anger go away. All she could wonder was why had he kept something like this from her. He had never kept something this big from her. Even when he had slept with her for the first time he had told her. This was much bigger then that. Did she not have a right to know that he brother was engaged to be married. Did she no longer matter enough for that information. She felt tears welling up inside of her. She did not want to cry but she knew that it was going to happen one way or another. Just as soon as the tears began to build up they fell from her eyes. Showing how much she hurt. That is when it happened. The rain she had predicted fell against her skin. Hiding her sadness, yet not washing it away.

let the rain wash away the pain
let the rain wash away the tear
let the rain give you a chance to change

It was a cool afternoon at Covington, when Miranda, who had gone to
the office to meet with the Guidance Counselor. She had been very
concerned about college and she felt that it was time that she start
looking into a few colleges. She was quite torn between fashion
design and another profession, one that she didn’t know yet.
Miranda’s parents had always supported her in every decision she
made but she felt that she should have a back up plan just in case
things didn’t work out with her and the world of fashion. So she
decided to meet up with Ms. Davis and work on figuring out what
colleges she should look at and what other kinds of work she would
like to do, one that she would enjoy waking up every morning and
doing. She finally settled on pediatrics. She loved children and she
loved to help them. Making sure that they were healthy and strong
was something she could see herself doing so they also looked into
schools with a good medical program so that she could, perhaps,
take a double major.

Miranda felt very accomplished as she left the counselors office. She
felt confident now that she knew exactly what she wanted to do and
she had Ms. Davis to thank for it. She could help but smile as she
thought about her other choice of profession. She really did love
children and she hated that she didn’t have a younger brother.
I guess it was for my own good, she thought knowing that perhaps
she wouldn’t have gotten along with her sibling if she did have one.

She was walking towards the ground feeling slightly bored. Perhaps
she could stop in the library and grab and book for when she heads
back to the dorm or maybe she’ll go on the computer and check her
email, or call her parents and see how they were doing, and tell them
about her new plan for after high school, or she could do all of that to
have time go by a little faster. She reached into her jacket pocket
and pulled out her phone to check the time. Just as she flipped it
open she felt a rain drop fall onto the screen. Bloody, she thought.
The last thing she wanted was to be caught running through the rain
soak and wet. She was not in the move for that not now, not ever.
Just as the rain began to pick up and pour down, she spotted a
gazebo in the distance. Hell, it was the closest thing. She ran quickly,
taking shelter under it. She sighed with relief. She wasn’t wet, at least
not completely. She went to take a seat and realized that she wasn’t
alone. Sitting inside was a girl, a very familiar girl, Raegan Shepard to
be exact. Miranda smiled and took a seat next to her friend.

'Hey, Rae! How is everything," she asked in her weird combination of
a Russian and English accent. She frowned immediately noticing the
look on Raegan’s face, "What’s wrong?"

Raegan hated that she was crying. Even though the rain was covering it up. Crying was for weak people, and Raegan hated being considered weak. Weak people never made it anywhere in the world. She knew that there was nothing wrong with crying, but she was just never the one to cry. She was the girl who watched the sad romantic movie with her friends and laughed at all of them for balling like a baby. So why now? Why did now have to be the first time? She had just come to the realization that she was all alone. Her brother. The only person in this world who truly cared about her and made her feel like she was wanted and loved, now made her feel not important enough to know one simple thing. Made her feel like she has now been completely abandoned in a place she can not even bring herself to call home.

Raegan pulled her legs up to her chest. Trying to take a few deep breaths to calm her down. However it was not working. She felt as if her lungs were going to explode, like she was slowly hyperventelating. She could almost not take the pain that is was cauing but she fought through it the best that she could. Which was not that great. She took a few more shallow breaths which calmed her slightly. Though wished there was something more that she could do. 'Hey, Rae! How is everything," She looked up to see Miranda sitting down next to her. She was glad it was Miranda and not someone else. She had not known Miranda to be mean and if she could not be alone right now being around someone who was nice and comforting was the next best thing. "What’s wrong?" Raegan did not even try to hide the tears anymore. She wiped them away with the side of her sleeve and forced a smile, which you could tell right away was forced. Just having one hell of a lifetime is all.

OK so maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration but it sure felt like it at this point in time. It felt like everything she had ever known was crashing down around her. So fast she could not even think as to what to pick up first. Maybe she should just let it all hit rock bottom. Maybe then she will not have to fight anymore. She will just let it crush her to the earth and that will be it. However she would not be able to do that. Sure she was crying now but she was not just one to sit around and let things happen. She was the one who did something about things. She just needed to catch her breath first. What are you doing out here all getting wet and stuff. She asked Miranda. Hoping to shy what ever conversation was going to be had away from her. At least until she had a chance to catch that breath she was searching for.
