Tyrannosaurus Rax: Historically speaking, it is not in fact 'Old Kent' but Mercia that could most accurately said to be truly English (or perhaps even East Anglia since that is the only region to retain the name of the Angles, or 'Anglish' people), since it was Offa of Mercia who first claimed to be 'King of all the English'.
Note: Offa was the 8th Century king of Mercia, one of seven Anglo-saxon kingdoms that (with the addition of the still Celtic fringe area of Corwall) roughly covered what is now England. Offa expanded Mercia and dominated the other six (rubbish) kingdoms until he was king. So there. |

I'm surprised you're that bothered to find out all that. Interesting never the less.
Me I prefer to know how LMGs, GPMGs, assault rifles and all the rest work. Why? Because they are fun. |

Punish us, sir! Please! Make us hate ourselves!
Dear all, Have just returned from family jaunt to Dublin. Read much about Easter 1916. Now a very big fan of Michael Collins, and the IRA before the civil war. So, Warrax I must now with the greatest respect, spit on the very concept of the monarchy. That is all. Love, Erk x |

Erk, this is a totally on the level threat and I will carry it out. If you ever say that you support the IRA I will f*cking kill you. Every single one of those f*cking murdering, sadistic motherf*cking b*stards deserve the longest and most agonising death anyone can ever come up with, and I f*cking mean that. Economic warfare? Murdering innocent civilians, torturing those who didn't comply to their ideals? Motherf*cking pieces of sh*t. I'll hunt each one of those f*ckers down to the ends of the earth, and I'll f*cking slaughter them, and anyone who ever supported them. I hate those f*ckers with every atom of my being.

Then Warrax needs to target the American government. The IRA somehow managed to get their hands on a pair of Barret 50cal sniper rifles. The only way to get them is from the American Government.

Or from servicemen.
Warrax: Easy on the hate, my bilious friend. If you read my last post, you will (I hope) spot the qualifier - 'before the civil war'. During the civil war, the IRA started going wrong. Before then, they were amazing. From then on, they increasingly swayed towards the 1990s model, with kidnappings, civilian-targeted bombs, etc. etc. When they started (1916), they stood for republicanism and (to an extent) socialism. They were good people, fighting a government (the Brits) that wasn't afraid to get its hands dirty (look up the Black and Tans, and the Croke Park incident where an armoured car drove into a stadium and opened fire on an unarmed and peaceful crowd). So, reserve your hatred for the people who killed civilians, not men and women who risked (and often lost) everything they had to fight for justice. |

If you don't support the IRA, then you won't have any reason to worry. And I mean the IRA of the 40's onwards, especially from the 60's onwards. Oh and don't go into the 'freedom fighter' line, as that gets me narked..
Oh and you can actually buy barretts on the open market. Cost a few thousand pounds for the rifle, but it can be done. |
