Some people would call it vote buying. Matthew would simply ignore them - these people needed help, and the Big Brother party was more than happy to offer it. They weren't forcing anyone to listen - the visitors could simply take what they needed and leave, but the option was there for them to stay.

"I come before all of you today, as equals. We are all citizens of Confundia, born into the same nation, with the same rights. But fortune has frowed upon you good people, and past governments have done nothing to give you the chance to pick yourself up of the ground, and get back on your feet.

The Big Brother believes in giving all the citizens of our great nation an equal opportunity to have success in life. Most of the time, the disadvantaged try to make ends meet, but the opportunities aren't there. That is why we are introducing a program where we will work with employers to provide unskilled employment roles, subsidised by the government. Training will be included in the role, and we will strive to provide enough positions for all those who live below the poverty line.

However, we have no doubt that this is probably not enough for most people. And at the Big Brother party, we are brave enough to admit that we have not experienced every possible scenario, and thus do not know everything. As a result, I ask you, forgotton people of Mallowsburg: what would it take to put your lives back on track? Having never lived in poverty myself, I don't know what you need. But you do. And thus, the Big Brother party wants to know what you think. Say whatever you feel is right - we will not laugh, nor look down upon you. So, as I open my ears, free your tongues and speak."

A Homeless person in the middle of the group shouted "How 'bout a warm safe place to sleep at night ?" There were few mumblings of agreement, but not many.
