Title: The Venerable

Loremaster - March 1, 2011 05:44 AM (GMT)
The venerable at the start of human existence were nothing more than energies, powers and thoughts of the universe. As they became exposed do the lesser races which were fascinated by their mysticism, they began to gain a physical sentience in likeness of the lesser races.

These manifestations were a result of the power consumed from the lesser races' awe, fascination and later, worship. Upon realizing this, the Venerable ones continually exposed themselves to the Terran races over the millenia, demanding worship and sacrifice in their name.

The Venerable do not release information or intelligence to the other races and their ranks are impenetrable. The ones that call themselves gods do not venture out of their realm but rather spread word via their agents - the lesser venerable.

There are three types of venerable that have made themselves known to the Terrans. They are discussed below. Two of these are playable types of Venerable.

Visions and Premonitions
NPCs only

A type of greater venerable that appear to loyal followers and believers to deliver important messages. They are always in the form of an inanimate object with an organic aspect. (eg. A wheel with eyes, a ship that speaks)

A very famous type of the inorganic venerable has made itself famous through 'Ezekiel's vision', a biblical anecdote.

Guardians
Single to four-winged

The holy warriors of the higher powers, as they like to be called. These Venerable are always males with highly muscular (likely, battle trained) bodies that are generally taller and bulkier than the typical human male. They have 1-4 wings of any color. The number of wings signifies their power and rank. The more wings they have, the more powerful they are. All of them also wield magic forged armor and weapons. Their weapons are always named.

The guardians themselves, to anyone that meets them have a very one-track closed mind. They are fiercely loyal to their species and tend to have an overzealous set of opinions on what the right way for anyone to live is. They firmly believe that the venerable are the ultimate life forms, are above and holier than all others. According to them, all blasphemers who defy their creed are to be punished and all evil is to be purged off the world. Suffice to say, they're very stubborn and usually not worth arguing with.

Life ExpectancyOnce a guardian is created they stay appearing the same age. The oldest documented guardians are two winged and around 3000-4000 years old.

Powers All guardians have amazing combat skills. Armed and unarmed. They are generally much stronger and faster than the average human and are able to break any human bone with their bare hands.

They may also have any of the following powers:
- Healing
- Draining of life force upon contact
- Aging of their victim or reversing the aging (4+ wings only. This ability takes a tremendous amount of power and leaves the guardian very weak.)

The Fallen

The Fallen are Venerable that have fallen from the grace of their superiors. This may be through committed acts of blasphemy, indecency or treason of any kind. The fallen can be any type of venerable, but they are most commonly guardians or a holy spirit that has somehow gained disfavor from the gods.

When a venerable becomes a fallen, they are stripped of their powers and are forced into a form of a lesser being. This is considered a big humiliation for any Venerable. The form they're in may be either for a single immortal life or a series of mortal lives.

At most, they may retain a very small, minuscule (in comparison to what they had before) ability to heal or destroy from their previous life. They will however be unusually charismatic and people may be drawn to them naturally.
