Site rules here at Clan Bloodfeather.

*All rules are in effect as of 9/1/06*

____________________________

Posting Suggestions:

--Make sure you have read the parent article/post completely before posting a reply
--Use your own words. If you wish to use the words of somebody else, quote them, citing the source. Plagiarism is unethical and is illegal in many countries.
--Choose an appropriate subject line. Try to summarise the problem briefly in the subject, and elaborate in the message itself. Repeat the subject in the body if it will make things clearer.
--Do not use all caps and do not add false information just to get attention (e.g. ;read this or you will be arrested;). An example of a bad subject would be "HELP ME". A good subject might be, "Foo crashes when I do bar". Do not use a URL as a thread title.
--Include as much information as you can when seeking help. This may include logs and command line output. Nobody will be able to help you if you don't give sufficient detail.

------------------------------------

General Rules:

1. Stay on Topic.
Try not to drift off topic during a thread conversation. Please don't join in with off topic discussion even if others are. Instead, try starting a new thread and linking to it. Off topic posts may get deleted, and threads that really get out of hand will be closed. Considering this is a wc3 forum you should also try as much as possible to keep all conversations to the genre. For those of you who feel the need to post random spam, there are forums for that. Please use those instead.

2. Do not Double post!!!
Please be advised that double posting is morally inaprehensible and will not be tolerated under any circumstances if done on purpose and on a regular basis. Our moderators for this small site will not moderate like nazis but we will give out warnings when we feel someone violates this statute on a regular basis. So please use the edit buttons when necessary instead of clicking Reply and creating two replies.

If you post additional identical replies/posts by mistake, please delete the duplicate replies by clicking the del link at the bottom of each.

Try not to post duplicate threads. Use the Forum Search to check if the topic you wish to post exists in the Forum already - it's very possible someone already asked your question! You can also use search engines such as Google to do advanced searchs of Neoseeker's forums for a topic, if you find the individual forum search isn't helping you or is not working. (Forum Search is not yet enabled but when it is(soon hopefully) this concept will apply and will be located in the top right of the forum.)

3. Do not flood a forum.
Flooding is where you post too many threads in a short period of time, perhaps to stay on top of the forum stats, or just to have your name all over the first page of a forum so you are popular, or perhaps because you want someone to see you post a lot there. Other members and guests want to use the forum as well as you. Give them a chance by allowing them to be the last person to reply to a thread. Once again if you feel the need to spam there is a specific forum for that.

4. Be respectful of others at all times.
The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others. It is possible to disagree without being insulting. In short: No offensive, insulting, profane or vulgar remarks are allowed. This also applies regarding comments about other people who do not frequent the site. Instead try Posting constructively. Negative feedback can be very useful, provided that it is presented in a civil, factual manner. Tell us what you don't like and why and how you feel it could be improved. A wide variety of opinions may be expressed on this public discussion forum. Respect positions which differ from your own. We like to see a vigorous intellectual discussion which proceeds politely and addresses the technical merits of different positions. Do not expect that anyone will alter their opinion of a topic regardless of however logical you believe your argument to be. Personal attacks are frowned upon. If you have to resort to such behavior, perhaps you belong someplace else

In Summary:
. Do not post content that would defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.
Slandering is a serious issue and will absolutely not be tolerated under any circumstances and will lead to an Immediate ban with no warning. *Don't press me on this issue because i will absolutely not allow any exceptions.*

If you are a user on this site and have been attacked verbally/emotionally via the pm system then you can contact me at Ipeonrushrisk@hotmail.com and i will take care of it immediately. Please submit if you can any evidence as it will help us take appropriate disciplinary action.

5. Do not impersonate other Visitors.
Trying to pretend to be someone else on the site, including Staff, is not allowed, because firstly you'll be bad at it and secondly you will be punished! There will be times when in the spam forum you will see people having fun and doing generally stupid stuff. Try to remember though that the spam thread has an entirely different set of rules.

6. Spam Forum Rules.
And here they are:
a)you can double post
b)you can swear
c)you can post nudity(blurred)
d)you can triple post
e)you can say meaningless things
f)there are no rules
g)only rule that applies is(no flaming and being disrespectful) and no posting of warez, etc.

7. Use short, concise thread titles.
When posting a new thread, it's a good idea to use a short, yet informative title, so it is not too long and other Visitors to the Forum know what your thread is about. You can always go more in detail inside the thread with specifics.

8. Do not use other accounts to break any of the Forumwide Rules.
Please do not attempt to break rules by using another account for the purpose of anonymity to avoid punishment. All Moderators and Site Staff can find out who you are if they need to!.

9. Do not attempt to break Forumwide Rules as a Guest.
Unregistered Members, or Unwashed Heathens/Guests, can also be identified using the same means to identify registered Members, and repeated abuse and rule breaking as a Guest will result in trouble! So don't go clicking Log Out to cause trouble - you can still be tied to your account!

10. Do not create additional registered accounts to bypass an issued ban.
Trying to get around a ban using secondary/additional member accounts will result in a permanent banishment of all binding accounts from which you have created. Further abuse will lead to your ISP being informed for site abuse - that can mean you won't have the Internet anymore - yes, even just because you got in trouble on an Internet site!

Do not aid other Guests/Members to bypass bans. Using your knowledge of the site workings and Moderator tools to help a troublemaker or banned Visitor will get you in a lot of trouble as well.

11. Hate speech and Pornography .

Pornography:
Young Visitors frequent this Site due to its basis as a Games Information Network, and should not be exposed to adult material. This includes the provision of links to source material, or the posting of pornographic text or imagery anywhere on the Site. So keep all of those "special pictures" to yourself, noone wants to see them here! Only exception are blurred nude images in the spam forum, otherwise as stated this is not acceptable.

Hate Speech:
When discussing race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or other highly-sensitive personal issues, please exercise the appropriate level of sensitivity toward others and take extra care to clearly express your point of view.

Do not post messages that are bigoted against (or grossly insensitive toward) any person or group of people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, lack of religion, disability, physical characteristics, or region of residence.

While specific words are not automatically forbidden, members should avoid using racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise bigoted terminology. This includes gender-specific terms such as "cunt," "whore," "slut," "skank," or "pussy," and terms with homophobic derivation, such as "cocksucker," which are often inflammatory and inappropriate. A common exception that is permitted is the use of words like "whore" or "prostitute" in cases where public figures or the media do favors. (For example: "Fox News is whoring for the GOP again" or "MSNBC is a democratic slut factory.")

Special note with regard to the word "bitch": The word "bitch" has been the source of a great deal of controversy on this website, because some of our members consider it to be a bigoted slur against all women, while others do not consider it bigoted. For a while we actively deleted posts which included this word, in an effort to keep the peace. This effort helped to keep discussions on track, but it resulted in many deleted posts that were otherwise perfectly fine as well as many confused people. Futhermore, the moderators themselves were ambivalent about removing the word. For this reason, we no longer automatically remove the word "bitch." However, we strongly urge members to voluntarily avoid using the word if they wish to keep their own discussions from going off-topic, and we reserve the right to take disciplinary action if we think someone is deliberately using the word in an effort to disrupt or cause trouble.

With regard to religion (or the lack thereof), Bloodfeather is a diverse community which includes Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics, and others. All are welcome here. For this reason, we expect members to make an extra effort to be sensitive to different religious beliefs, and to show respect to members who hold different religious beliefs. Members are welcome to discuss whether they agree or disagree with particular religious beliefs, but they are expected to do so in a relatively sensitive and respectful manner. As a general rule, discussions about ideas are usually permitted, but broad-brush bigoted statements about groups of people — either religious or non-religious — are not. If you are easily offended by discussions about religious beliefs, or if you take pleasure from offending or ridiculing people with different beliefs, or if you consider progressive people with different beliefs to be your enemy or your inferior, do not participate in religious discussions on Bloodfeather

Please note that sweeping statements about entire groups of fellow progressives are not categorically forbidden (except in the case of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, lack of religion, disability, physical characteristics, or region of residence, as mentioned above). However, they are often inflammatory and counterproductive and the moderators have broad discretion to remove such posts in the interests of keeping the peace on the message board.

In Summary; Do not post the Following:
- Inappropriate nudity
- Excessive sexual innuendo
- Racial slurs
- Ethnic slurs
- Religious slurs
- National slurs
- Hate language

12. Do not advertise hacks/warez or websites/forums with related material/resouces.
Advertising in such a way through posts is strictly forbidden. Members who link to these sites or any other type of referral site will lose posting rights on their account permanently.Do not attempt to distribute or discuss Warez, ROMs, CD keys, CD key generators, cracks or any other illegal software or counterfeit merchandise. This includes the provision of links to source websites and/or file transfer software or download locations for the obtaining of this material. Clan Bloodfeather recommends that you buy all your software legally! No copying!
All "hack" reports will be investigated by CRS as they arise. Those found active will be dealt with as fast as possible depending on the current development schedule. Accounts that are caught "hacking" in any way shape or form are locked immediately with no warning, questions, or recourse.
IN Summary: Do not discuss illegal activities. Our server is hosted in the USA and so is subject to US law. Please do not expose us to any unnecessary legal liability.

13. Do not use inappropriate avatars, custom titles or signatures.
Using any of these site provisions to show sexually suggestive/blatant sexual imagery or text, profanity, religious, social or personal slandering is a serious offence.

14. Do not pose as an Administrator or Moderator.
Visitors to the Site who are not recognised Administrators or Moderators with full credentials should not pose as the aforementioned ranks, through the use of Administrator or Moderator in their Member name, avatar, custom title or signature. The creation of new accounts to pose as any of these ranks is also strictly forbidden. This includes but is not limited to using the following titles or deviant spellings of admin, Administrator, Webmaster, Staff, Mod and Moderator.

15. Do not use private messages as a secure communication medium.
Confidential information or details of a fragile nature should not be transmitted to another Visitor using pm's. The Administrators have access to these messages if necessary and accept no responsibility resulting from the exposure of this information to the public through using the private messaging system.

16. Ranting is prohibited
A rant is a post which is long-winded, redundant and filled with angry, non-constructive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and helpful in the development of Warcraft 3, but rants are disruptive and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise, clear manner and avoid going off on rambling tangents.

17. Personal attacks are prohibited.
Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts which are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated. Corporation, faction members and other players are cautioned to avoid allowing an "in character" dispute become an "out of character" personal attack. The game is designed for role playing and/or portraying a role and it is sometimes easy for tempers to flare when the lines between the virtual world and the real world are crossed. Keep in-game disputes in the game and off the forum, please, unless it is clearly a mutual, in character exchange. Use your anger instead on bnet.

The moderators and administrators work very hard to enforce some minimal standards regarding what content is appropriate. But please remember that this is a large and diverse community that includes a broad range of opinion. People who are easily offended, or who are not accustomed to having their opinions (including deeply personal convictions) challenged may not feel entirely comfortable here. A thick skin is necessary to participate on this or any other discussion forum.

Trolling comes to mind and is used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude.

18. No posting of personal information
Please respect the privacy of other Wc3 players and do not give out or divulge information such as phone numbers and addresses, e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other individual information. This also includes not giving out bnet screenames or website url's of the person in question.
(this rule applies in the Spam forums as well)

19. Bumping posts is allowed.
Bumping is not an issue on this site as it promotes people to post. Plus we don't want to scare you away from the other 18 rules above, even though all the ones we've discussed to this point are rather mute in content and are widely used on forums around the net.

20. All posts must be in English, unless posted in a specific international forum.
If posting in a international forum, please use the language of that forum, and not English. We do have a variety of International users on this site, so if you have problems communicating you can always pm a moderator or site admin and we can help you find a translator.

21. Do not collect information of others.
Do not use the forums in connection with any surveys, contests, pyramid schemes, chain letters, junk email, spamming or any duplicative or unsolicited messages (commercial or otherwise) Do not harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including e-mail addresses and IP addresses. Do not "dig up" information about any other visitor to this website. You may post the public contact information for public figures, but you may not post anyone's private information without their consent. Do not use our message board for personal fundraising, for-profit advertising, or selling products or services, except in the specially-designated "DU Marketplace" forum. We will occasionally make an exception in cases where the product or service contributes to the Warcraft3 Community in regards to Contests.

22. Copyrights rules.
Do not copy-and-paste entire articles onto this discussion forum without either expressed written or verbal permission or without adding a source including author's name and location of the original article. So in conclusion, when referencing copyrighted work, post a short excerpt as explained above.

Do not steal someone else's bandwidth by posting images that are hosted on another website. Bloodfeather is a low-traffic website, so posting images from other sites will cause their server load to increase dramatically, and might even cost the website owner money. If you wish to post an image from another website, you must contact the owner of the other website to get their consent. (Spam forum rules do not apply). Bloodfeather has the ability to block remote linking to images hosted on other websites. If you are a website administrator and you would like images from your website blocked, please send us an email to let us know. Do not link or share copyrighted digital media such as mp3s or DVDs.

Wherever possible, please make an effort to link directly to the original source of an article, instead of linking to sites that have re-published someone else's content.

---------------------------------

Extended Forum Rules:

Do not call another member of this message board a liar, and do not call another member's post a lie. You are, of course, permitted to point out when a post is untrue or factually incorrect.

Do not publicly accuse another member of this message board of being a disruptor, conservative, Republican, or troll, or do not otherwise imply they are not welcome on Bloodfeather. If you think someone is a disruptor, click the "Alert" link below their post to let the moderators know.

Do not draw negative attention to the fact that someone is new, has a low post count, or recently became a member of Bloodfeather. Do not insinuate that because someone is new, they are a troll or disruptor.

Do not accuse entire groups of people on Bloodfeather of being conservative disruptors, or post messages which spread this type of suspicion. Do not post topics that arouse suspicion against new members, or members with low post counts.

Do not say that you are hitting the alert link to report another member. You are permitted to tell someone that you are adding them to your ignore list, provided that you actually do so.

Do not "stalk" another member from one discussion thread to another. Do not follow someone into another thread to try to continue a disagreement you had elsewhere. Do not talk negatively about an individual in a thread where they are not participating. Do not post messages with the purpose of "calling out" another member or picking a fight with another member. Do not use your signature line to draw negative attention to another member of the board.

You are permitted to post polite behavioral corrections to other members of the message board, in direct response to specific instances of incivility, provided that your comments are narrowly focused on the behavior. But you are not permitted to make broad statements about another person's behavior in general, and you are not permitted to post repeated reminders about another person's mistakes.

You are permitted to criticize public figures, who are not protected under our rules against personal attacks. However, if a public figure is a member of our community, that person is protected by our rules and you are not permitted to personally attack that person. (You are permitted to offer constructive criticism of their activities as a public figure.)

If you do not like someone, please be aware that you have the option of putting that person on your ignore list. Just click the ignore icon on one of their posts.

There are no exceptions to these civility rules. You cannot attack someone because they attacked you first, or because that person "deserved it," or because you think someone is a disruptor. We consider it a personal attack to call a liar a liar, to call a moron a moron, or to call a jerk a jerk.

Bloodfeather, does not have a policy of checking the veracity of messages posted by users of our discussion board. Use discretion when evaluating unsubstantiated claims.

-------------------------------------

National Security:

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating harm or death to the president or other high-ranking official in the United States government. In the case of the president, do not even post jokes, as the Secret Service is not known for its sense of humor.

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating armed revolution or violent overthrow of the government of the United States.

Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating violence or military defeat against the United States, the U.S. military, US service people, or the people of the United States.

Do not post broad-brush smears against US service people. Do not blame the troops for the mistakes of their officers or their Commander-in-Chief. Show the appropriate level of respect to those individuals who have put their own lives on the line to defend this country.

Do not post unpublished information on troop movements, military maneuvers, or any other information which may compromise US national security.

Moderators:

There are many senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)

A.1 Move posts. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum and will be moved to the correct forums.

A.2 Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.

A.3 Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.

A.4 Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.

A.5 Ban members. Banning members is the most severe punishment. Duration, notification and enforcement of a ban is at the discretion of the Moderators. Usually, three or more moderators or administrators must agree to effect a ban, however, depending on the severity of the violation an immediate ban can be enforced.

>>>>>>

Site Administrators:

B.1 All the beforementioned rules

B.2 Can forego all rules and use Complete will at their discretion.

In Conclusion:
--Treat the moderators and administrators with respect.
--Do not post messages attacking the moderators or administrators.
--Do not publicly accuse the moderators or administrators of bias.
--Do not send rude messages to the moderators or administrators, by email, by private message, by use of the "Alert" function, or by any other means.
--Do not publicly post correspondence you receive from moderators and administrators, and do not share it with other members of this message board.

We reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason, to delete any post for any reason, to shut down any discussion for any reason, or to do whatever we feel is appropriate to run this website.

We reserve the right to remove any post that we consider disruptive or inappropriate, even if that post is not specifically forbidden by our published rules.

The administrators have the final authority on all matters relating to this website.
________________

Disciplinary Measures

Should a Visitor be found guilty of breaking one or more of the above Rules, they may serve a variable amount of time under certain restrictions. These can include various punishments like not being able to post as much every day, or being banned from one or more forums completely. In response to an unacceptable post or other action as defined here, the moderators may make edits or comments within posts containing unacceptable content. They may also remove unacceptable content and issue warnings or temporary forum bans.

Do not quote content of other posts which violate these rules. Do not repost threads that have been locked or deleted. Do not repost content that has been edited or deleted by the moderators.

All such discipline will weigh the unacceptable content or other action against the prior disciplinary record of the individual in question. The individual's attitude and further actions with respect to the incident will also be a factor.

Borderline content will be evaluated more rigorously when posted by an individual with a significant prior disciplinary record(aka Discombobulator). Posts made during a "riot" or other concerted group rules-violation activity may be moderated more rigorously. In instances where an individual has multiple accounts, related posts from the second account may be considered in regard to disciplinary action for a post from the first account. Generally, repeated unacceptable posting will result in warnings, then temporary forum bans of escalating duration.

Repeat rulebreakers or serious offenders will be subject to a permanent ban, whereby they cannot use site facilities ever again, or in extreme cases, Clan Bloodfeather Administration reserves the right to contact the Internet Provider of the Visitor to have them disconnected - this has taken place on several occasions before! A formal warning is given via PM for First time violations of the board rules. If the violation is considered extremely severe, immediate measures can be taken without any prior warning. If you want to dispute an imposed punishment, contact a moderator.

Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum.
Such matters shall remain private between the Site owner and the user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through e-mail or private messaging. Likewise, discussions regarding moderator actions are not permitted on the forum. If you have questions regarding a post or thread, please contact Bounty2
-------------------

Ending Notes

The rules above were designed to ensure all Visitors to Bloodfeather have an enjoyable experience. Please ensure you try to maintain your best behaviour at all times during your stay here.

The moderators of Bloodfeather enforce the rules based on consensus. Whenever a moderator takes action, they are required to first get a consensus from the available moderators that action is necessary and appropriate. What constitutes a consensus varies based on the situation. If a rule violation is obvious, then action only requires a second opinion from one other moderator. But if a situation is unclear, highly subjective, or likely to be controversial, then the opinions of many moderators are required. Whatever the situation, one moderator has the power to veto any enforcement action. All moderator actions are logged by our software, and can be reviewed by the administrators.

Respect the moderators and administrators, and respect their decisions. You can help make their job easier by clicking the "Alert" link on any post that might need moderator attention. Please understand that moderating errors and inconsistencies are inevitable on a large website like this. If you have a question about CB policies, or if you have a concern about an action a moderator has taken, please contact an admin privately.

The administrators of Bloodfeather are working to provide a place where progressives can share ideas and debate in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Despite our best efforts, some of our members often stray from this ideal and cheapen the quality of discourse for everyone else. Unfortunately, it is simply impossible to write a comprehensive set of rules forbidding every type of antisocial behavior. The fact that the rules do not forbid a certain type of post does not automatically make an uncivil post appropriate, nor does it imply that the administrators approve of disrespectful behavior. Every member of this community has a responsibility to participate in a respectful manner, and to help foster an atmosphere of thoughtful discussion. In this regard, we strongly advise that our members exercise a little common decency, rather than trying to parse the message board rules to figure out what type of antisocial behavior is not forbidden.

______________________________

Announcements:

All of our moderators are unpaid volunteers. They are selected from the membership of our community, and represent the full ideological spectrum of our membership. They usually serve for terms of three months. During any given term, we usually have a mix of veteran moderators who have served for many months and relatively new moderators who have only recently volunteered. Before each new term, the administrators post an announcement calling for new volunteers. If you wish to volunteer, keep an eye on our announcements section in the forum Lobby.

Marry me girl be my fairy to the world
Be my very own constellation
A teenage bride with a baby inside
Getting high on information
And buy me a star on the boulevard
Its californication

Space may be the final frontier
But its made in a hollywood basement
Cobain can you hear the spheres
Singing songs off station to station
And alderons not far away
Its californication
