He couldn't really say that his week had been hectic, nor that his life was complicated but for some reason he had been feeling quite weird recently. Weird for him meant sentimental and thoughtful. Man, did he hate to be like that! Please, Daniel McAllen was not one to give in to those things, hell no. He would never let anyone see him like that either. So the fifteen year old continued walking, just as he had been doing in the last few minutes, and decided to think about really happy...or at least less depressing things.

Walking really did help, he didn't know where he was going nor really cared for where he was going but well...he just needed to walk. Daniel was in fact a great fan ot the activity because for some reason he only focused on moving his feet and not thinking. Yeah, unlike the other activity, Daniel was not such a huge fan of thinking. It never really helped.

Eventually he reached a place he had not seen before. He had heard about it many times before but he had never really seen it, which was weird for he had been to almost every place in camp. Well, almost....this definitely proved that he had not been to every place in camp. It was Zeus' fist. Fist? Did it really look like a fist or was it just another weird demigod thing? Maybe, so far he had found out lots of weird demigod things that made no sense at all.

So he walked until he was right there in Zeus' fist and sat down on the edge as he ruffled his dark hair. Well, now that was a nice place to think, but he didn't want to think, he wanted to talk and have fun. Maybe talking would help. Nice conversations always helped in fact.

Why Noa wasn't wearing any shoes was a mystery. She rarely went barefoot but she hadn't felt like wearing any shoes today. She wasn't even listening to music. She was too busy thinking about Cato. She was worried that if she listened to music that would drown out the thoughts of his voice and his face. Oh and his arms. Hugging him was also on her mind. Hugging him was always on her mind. It was so on her mind that she didn't even realise that she had walked all the way over to Zeus' Fist.

When she finally looked up and noticed where she was, a smile came to her face. Had she really walked all the way from her cabin to here without shoes? Oh well. There was another boy there. She had seen him around before, she remembered. But she couldn't recall his name or his cabin. Hadn't she been so all over Cato she might have even noticed he was cute, but that wasn't important right now. What was important was that he was alone and Noa could still use some more friends.

So she walked over to this boy and waved her hand in front of his face. "Hello." she said and extended her hand towards him. "I'm Noa." she introduced herself. Yep, straight to the point she was. She was going to be talking to this kid because she wanted to make conversation. Friends were cool. Noa needed proper friends. not ones she'd go and fall in love with

Peace and tranquility, that's what Daniel was breathing in that instant: peace and tranquility. Yeah, he wasn't a huge fan of that though. He liked it of course, to a certain extent it was healthy and relaxing but for him that certain extent was just a few minutes. If that lasted longer, he definitely considered himself sick or insane...or maybe both. For Zeus' sake, couldn't there by anyone around in that moment. So the boy let out a huge sigh and rested his head on his hand.

All of a sudden he heard the voice of a girl saying hi. In that moment he had to blink a few times in order to come back from the reverie in which he was. Well now, she was pretty, really pretty and man, he really loved the gods, they were quick to answer prayers. He asked for someone to talk to and they sent him someone. "Hey," he said as a crooked smile appeared in his face. And her name was Noa. "Pleasure meeting you," he said as he shook hands with her. "I'm Daniel," he missed the child of Athena part but he was too distracted by the girl. Besides, was that even important? Nope, it wasn't.

It was then that Daniel noticed that the girl was not wearing any shoes. Well, another one of the strange things that demigods did. It was rather cute though, for some reason the fact that she wasn't wearing any shoes made her look adorable. "You've come all the way to here without shoes?" Daniel asked her with a crooked smile on his face.

Wait. Something came to his mind. Noa. She was the girl Cato had talked about! Right! That was her, now wonder why he liked her, she was pretty. "You're Noa," Daniel exclaimed, the smile on his face wider, "you're Noa," he stated again. Great! Now he just made a fool of himself. It wasn't exactly a new thing since he did that most of the time but doing it in front of her was really embarrassing. "I'm really really sorry," he said, "you know, demigods tend to do weird things. I'm already weird so weird things come naturally, I'm sorry," he repeated and a little blush appeared in his face.

Noa smiled back at this kid. He seemed to have been distracted before and Noa was almost sure she would have had to not interrupt him. “Nice meeting you too, Daniel..” Noa said, also completely forgetting about mentioning her cabin. It was usually something that she liked knowing but for now it didn't matter. She was sure that it would come up in the conversation at some point. If it was important.

“Yeah.. I didn't feel like wearing shoes today.” Noa said and looked down at her feet which were now rather smudged with dirt and sand and grass stains. But Noa didn't mind. She was a daughter of Demeter after all so she had a perfectly good excuse for not wearing any shoes. And suddenly this Daniel was starting to behave weirdly. Like he suddenly remembered. Noa's eyes widened slightly and she started blinking fast. Yeah, she was Noa? Why was his smile so crazy big? Had someone mentioned her? Had it been Cato? Gods, she hoped it had been Cato. That would mean he thought about her at least as much as she thought about him.

“Um.. Yeah.. I'm Noa..” she said with a bit of a confused smile. She looked down and flopped on the ground in front of him. “You've heard about me then?” she asked him. Now she wanted to know whether or not Cato had been talking about her. “That's alright.. I know we're a bit odd sometimes. I walk around without shoes, you suddenly shout out people's names like you have heard all about them..” Noa said and let out a small giggle. Oh. And now he was blushing. Boy that was awkward. Noa never made anyone blush. She was always the one to start blushing.

“So who has mentioned me?” Noa said, her smile suddenly wide. Could she ask him directly if it was Cato? Maybe he was friends with him and he would tell him that she liked him. But maybe Cato had said she was stupid and weird and that he didn't want anything to do with her. Hmm. No. That couldn't be it. He would have let her know if he didn't want to hang out with her, right? Yeah, he would have. And he did want to hang out with her.

Daniel found the girl's outgoing personality quite amusing and entertaining. It was really not common, very few people he had talked to were that outgoing and fun. He considered it a very nice trait in fact. It made making friends with her a lot easier, especially in the strange thoughtful mood in which he was. Good thing she appeared. Really.

A crooked smile suddenly appeared in his face when she said she just hadn't felt like wearing shoes. Could that even happen? Well maybe, some people did walk without shoes, right. He didn't know any but he was certain that there were some people that walked with no shoes. "Yeah it happens," he said with a smile, "how did you get here without shoes and didn't get hurt?" He asked her. Really, he simply couldn't imagine himself walking barefoot though the camp's grounds. It would bother him greatly in fact.

But in that moment he wondered why he couldn't be a little more normal or at least a bit less weird than he was. Really, what was the point of suddenly exclaiming that she was Noa? Of course she was Noa, she knew her name, there was no need to repeat it to her at all. "Yes, Noa," he said a lot more quietly now, trying to regain his composure. Cough. Cough. Okay no he was a bit more...normal, or could at least behave as such. "Yes, I've heard about you, once," Daniel answered. Right, that was about all he was going to say though. He wasn't about to just tell her everything Cato told her. Yes she was very nice and funny, but still...no. "Yeah, I guess we are one special bunch, but it makes us unique so, I guess it's good to be weird sometimes," he said, chuckling a bit.

Darn it, now that was one complicated thing to answer. "Ummm, well, you know...this one Ares guy, Cato?" He said. Okay now that was really all he was going to say, for real. Or so he thought. "You're both friends right?"

Even if Noa was rather outgoing it hadn't really earned her many friends at camp. Most of them left anyway. It was almost like there was a curse on her of some sorts. People around her would always leave. She slightly shook her head before Gavin could cross her mind. He had been the greatest example. But she had Cato now. Cato wasn't going to leave her, right? At least she hoped he wouldn't and if he would.. That would be terrible. She couldn't imagine him leaving anyway but perhaps that was only because she liked him so much.

Oh, he was asking her a question. She had almost completely zoned out. “Um, well.. I just did.. I avoided too rough spots I guess?” Noa answered. It really wasn't that hard to get from her cabin to the creek without getting hurt when you had no shoes on. She couldn't even imagine how or why she would get hurt. It wasn't like people threw everything on the ground here and leaving your weapons lying around usually wasn't a good idea, so no one did it.

So he had heard about her. She wondered if she could find out from him who exactly had talked about her. And apparently he had heard about her.. once.. And then he said his name. It made her smile – to hear that Cato had been talking about her. Even if it was only once. He had mentioned her, but apparently he had told Daniel that they were friends. Just friends, right? At least that was what she was trying to tell herself. “Yeah.. We're..” she paused and chewed on her lip. “Friends, I suppose..” she said and looked around to see if he wasn't suddenly there. No.. He wasn't.

Was she going to tell this odd boy? She had to tell someone. “Have you ever liked anyone, Daniel? Like really liked them? So much that you wanted to spend every moment of every day with them?” It was a simple and seemingly rather innocent question, but Noa meant so much more with it, and she rather hoped that Daniel would catch the hint.

Walking barefoot? He would only do that at the beach and just because it was sand. He could get easily rid of sand. Besides, there were no rocky or rough places that would hurt him. Still, maybe it felt good to walk barefoot. He had never tried it so he couldn't really tell but apparently Noa here did. "Oh," he replied, "good thing you didn't get hurt then." Yes, it wouldn't have been nice if she did. Nice girls like her didn't deserve to get hurt, in any way really. Not even in her foot. Besides, if she ever got hurt probably Cato would have destroyed, pulverized, finish -and all other adjectives referred to ending one's life- that person's or thing's life. The thought made a weak mocking smile appear in his face.

There he said it.It had been Cato who talked about her. Didn't she know? Didn't she even have an idea, however remote it could be? Please by the way he talked about her, Daniel could pretty much tell that hiding his feelings was not an easy thing. And now he was talking to Noa, who happened to have smiled when he said Cato's name. Please, these two obviously liked each other. Why weren't they together already? Oh well, he wasn't about to think about that. Friends. Well that could be it too. "Friends, huh?" He asked her. "That's good. Are you two like good friends, best friends, friends who talk to each other just once in a while?"

And there she went, talking about feelings and love and other kind of cheesy stuff. Girls always did that. Why did they even do that? Who knew. The Athena boy wasn't really in the mood to talk or even hear about such things, but Noa seemed nice, and appeared to want to talk about it. So Daniel smiled at her as she talked to him. "Cato, right?" he asked her unthinkingly. It was obvious though, even if he didn't know their story, it was obvious. "But yes I have," he said as his blue eyes gazed straight ahead, "it's like you just want to be with that person, doesn't matter if it's in silence, not doing anything, you just want to be with that person," like with Nicole. All he wanted to do was be with her but now she was in some other place and he was in Camp Half-blood.

Okay so maybe Daniel could tell that it was more than just friendship. He was already asking what kind of friendship they had and really what kind was it? "Oh.. Well, I'd say best friends.. I really like hanging out with him.. And I suppose he likes hanging out with me as well.. I mean, he hasn't ever told me that he didn't and he does come to hang out a lot.." Noa told him and squinted her eyes in thought. Yeah, she definitely thought Cato considered her his best friend as well. And that was a good thing. She wanted him to think of her as a friend. She wanted to be his friend. Okay, she wanted to be more than his best friend.

And it seemed Daniel understood immediately when she started talking about liking someone. She smiled and let out a short laugh. "Is it that obvious?" She asked him. It probably was, wasn't it? She had never been good at hiding her feelings. She had always been the kid that was easy to read. It's why she couldn't tell a lie, but it was also why she had learned to pay attention to her surroundings a lot. She liked knowing what was going on with people so they couldn't take advantage of her not always knowing how to show how she felt. And yet Cato hadn't ever noticed.

His explanation of liking someone came close to what she felt. In fact, it was exactly what it was. "Yeah.." was the only word she could say and she stared into the distance. "I'm sorry, I usually don't tell people all about myself like that on the first meeting.." And she really didn't. Usually she'd get to know someone before spilling her guts to them. "You know, I haven't told Cato this.. But I liked someone before he came to camp.. But he left.." more confessions. Was she afraid Cato would leave? Yes. Definitely. And was that the only reason she hadn't told him yet? Probably not. She was a bit of a scaredy cat anyway.

So apparently they were best friends, or so they wanted to believe, which was weird because for two people that absolutely crushed on each other, they looked fine enough as friends. Weird really, but he wasn't about to intrude nor about to tell Noa all he knew and all that Cato told him. He definitely wasn't going to do that. So he just listened to Noa as he picked up a rock and threw it away. "Then you're best friends," he stated, "that's good," Daniel said as he turned to look at her and smiled. "You've known him for quite a while then, right?" If she liked him and considered him a best friend, then that meant that they knew each other quite well.

"Pretty much," he answered, flashing Noa a warm smile. It was way too obvious in fact. It was the way she talked about him and the way she smiled on Daniel mentioned Cato's name, all of that gave her away. It was lovely though, the fifteen year old considered it was lovely to see her like that. "But it's okay, he's not around, and I'm not the type of person who goes telling everyone everything. Besides, I'm kind of new here, so I'll most likely only tell it to my spongebob pillow," Daniel joked, trying to make whatever awkward moment there could ever be, slowly fade away and disappear.

Well, to be honest, Noa was not bothering Daniel at all, and he had a feeling that she really needed to take some things out of her chest. "It's okay, if you need to talk, just spill it out," he said, while chuckling a bit nervously, "I mean, we just met, yes but if you need to talk, we're here already, so..." Daniel told her as he moved in his hand, signaling her to continue. And then she talked about her last crush. Right. So her last crush left. For some reason he started to feel like they had some things in common. Nicole left too. "So two questions," he said, "first. You are totally and completely and utterly over the last dude, right? and second, you're afraid Cato might leave too, right?" he asked her.

She was glad that Daniel said he would tell Cato about anything she said. Maybe Cato had talked about her more than she knew? Maybe he had said things about her as well and part of her hoped that he had and that he had told Daniel how much he liked her. That would have been a good thing. "Yeah I've known him for a couple of months now. Well like almost four. Which isn't all that long when it comes to people being friends or best friends, but you know, I don't have all that many other friends." She rarely told anyone how lonely she really was. She couldn't remember who she had told, besides Cato. It was odd for the brunette to not have many friends. She was cheerful, happy, bubbly and people liked that right?

As he was talking, Noa caught a strand of hair and started wrapping it around her finger. And when he asked her the two questions, her jaw nearly dropped. Especially the last one was spot on. "Yeah I'm over Gavin." Noa said with a smile and immediately Cato popped in her mind again. She wasn't entirely sure what she would do if he suddenly showed up again. For all she knew he could be dead. Or missing, or whatever else. Or maybe he was just happily living his life back home. Sure, she missed him, but the black hole he had left had healed over time and then she had met Cato. Sure, his friendship had helped her move on completely but it wasn't like she was looking to replace Gavin with Cato.

"And as for Cato.. Leaving.." Noa said, pausing a bit before actually saying the L word, for simply the thought of him leaving was too much. "Yeah, I'm scared that he'll leave." She finally admitted after a long and dramatic-like pause. "I don't want him to leave. I really like him and for some reason anyone that I really befriended has left camp for some reason. I'm just constantly afraid to make a friend and then have them leave. And even more so with Cato.." She said and pushed her hair behind her ear. "But you know, I don't think he'll leave. He seems to like it here and he's my best friend and even if I wished so much that we were more, I'm content with being friends as long as he stays."

The fifteen year old boy raised an eyebrow as a portrayal of his utter disbelief. He just couldn't believe it at all. How could someone like Noa not have many friends? "You don't have many friends?" he asked with his eyebrow still raised. "I can't believe it, really, I'm sorry I just can't. Why wouldn't you? You are funny and outgoing and nice, people like you should have many friends," it was true. She was all that and he figured that it was really understandable why Cato liked her so much. But sometimes those kind of things happen and nice people, like Noa, had rough times. "So...I don't have many friends either," Daniel said with a crooked smile on his face. Man, it was so awkward to accept that. Back at home he had tons. "so...I think we could be friends and be the not-with-many-friends friends. What do you think?" He joked, but he really did mean it.

Right. That was good, she was over the other boy, Gavin, right? Yes, it was Gavin. That was good, because for some reason, he didn't know which but for some reason he thought that Cato and Noa should really be together. Please, they liked each other and didn't even fake it. "So you're telling me that if the guy suddenly came back, you wouldn't have any feelings at all and wouldn't even get all nervous and stuff?" Yeah, weird question, he knew it, it was just that he wanted to be sure.

And there it was, she said it. Daniel, out of personal experience, knew that it must have been quite difficult for her to say it. He remembered when he accept the fact that Nicole wasn't anymore. It had been hard, very hard. So he quite understood why she felt like that. So Daniel let her talk and finish what she was saying. After being around girls for so long, his sister Sophie and his half-sister Pixie, he knew better than to interrupt girls when they were talking. "I don't he'll leave," at least not without her, but he wasn't about to give him away, "I mean, he has you here, right? You're his friend. People don't just leave friends," he said. "For example, if I were your friend with not-many-friends, I wouldn't just leave. Because then I'd have two important people here, you and my half-sister, because I wouldn't leave her, ever" he said as he lowered his gaze and picked a rock.

Yeah, no, Daniel didn't really believe Noa would be okay with her and Cato just being friends, but he understood her point. "Yeah, but you would rather have him as something else, right?" Daniel asked him. "I personally think you shouldn't be afraid to like someone or love. I mean really, who knows, that person might surprise you,"he told her. That could work for her, but for him, getting over Nicole was still hard.

For some reason whenever Noa would tell anyone she had little friends they would act surprised. Cato had act surprised, Gavin and Caesar had, and most importantly, Cato had when she had told him not too long ago. He had also immediately agreed to be her friend and so slowly her friend group was expanding. "Well yeah.." Noa said and waited until he was done speaking. She could feel her face turning red. Not because of who was saying the words, but because of what he was saying. It was really flattering. "Well I don't know.. There's a couple of people that I hang out with a lot but for some reason most of my friends have left camp." Noa told him and that really was the only reason she had little friends.

The Gavin question made everything a lot harder of course for he had been a special friend. At least he hadn't been all that special until he left. That's when she had realised that she liked him more than as just a friend. And of course for the longest time she had hoped he'd come back but she had no idea whether or not she wanted that now as well. "Well.. I suppose I would be nervous but not because I like him anymore. But he was my best friend and I'd want him to accept the fact that Cato is now my best friend as well.." and of course she'd want Gavin to approve of him as her possible boyfriend. That was important. Way.

And it made her smile when Daniel said he didn't think Cato would leaver her. And named himself and his half sister as an example. But then was it bad of Gavin to leave? Should she be angry with him for him leaving? Well, not anymore, obviously. It had been a while now. But should she have been angry when he just left? She couldn't imagine it and she could only remember being really sad and down for a while. "Sometimes people can't help but leave though.." she said, mostly in Gavin's defence even if she realised that it wasn't an attack towards him.

"I just hope he'll stay.. And we'll have to see about that." she said and picked on the grass. "And I suppose he might.. Surprise me, I mean.. I guess he likes me enough to put up with me wanting to hang out every single moment of the day. I guess that means he at least cares about me a bit.." she said softly and mostly to herself before looking back up at Daniel. "Do you think I should tell him?"

It seemed as if Noa blushed quite easily. It was funny for some reason, funny and adorable. He really did mean it though, the friends part. He wanted nice positive people around him, kind of like Noa and Pixie. Where his friends only girls? Yes, apparently, he could count Cato but he wasn't very sure yet. So he smiled when she simply said yeah. Daniel was like that, he liked simple things. Like that, a simple conversation, a simple tune, simple things. That was him. "That must suck," he said softly when Noa told him that most of her friends left. He knew how much it hurt when someone left, especially someone one cared about. "but that means that you still have friends here, right?"

So she was sure she didn't like Gavin anymore. That was good. For some reason he was starting to think that Cato and Noa belonged together. Okay, he knew the reasons but he just thought about it. "That's good," Daniel replied as he stared blankly at the nothingness ahead of him. "So question one is answered, claps please," Daniel joked, looking back at the brunette girl. Joking was good, he liked joking and if at least one of his jokes made someone laugh, then he liked it a lot more.

That was true. He had to admit that she had a point. Sometimes people had no other choice. But there were also other times in which people did have other choices. Nicole for instance, she chose to leave. There were times in which people just chose to leave and never come back. But he wasn't about to tell that to Noa. That was downright depressive and stupid. He wasn't there to sadden Noa, he was there to...cheer her up? Yes, cheer her up. "You're right, there are times in which things just happen, right?"

Well there were ups and downs in being stuck in a camp without any kind of contact with the outside world, but if Cato had someone he cared about or she cared for him, why would he leave? Right, that was Daniel, he didn't really know what the other boy was thinking but still, it was just a matter of using one's brain. Well, that came easier for him who was a son of Athena. Oh, great! First time he actually made use of what his mother gave him. "He likes you," he said plainly still diverted in his thoughts. And it was not until a few moments that he realized what he had said. "I mean, from what you've told me, I think he does like you," he said quickly. "Really, just...trust me, we are not patient at all, so if he's putting that much effort that means he likes you." Right, did that sound as if he was giving too much information away? No, he didn't think so. It all sounded as if they were all his thoughts. "Well, do you want to tell him?" he asked her.

Noa never meant to come across as adorable. She'd rather be taken seriously but the blushing all the time really didn't help. Not that she could help blushing a lot. She was just very easily embarrassed and while she was outgoing and all she tended to get shy around people she didn't know that well. "It does suck, but yeah, I have some friends.." Noa said and was about to start naming them when she realised it really weren't that many. "My best friend, besides Cato, is Lana.. She's from Aphrodite but she's really nice and really smart.." Noa told him with a big smile. It was definitely good to have a female friend around.

Noa laughed when he asked for applause. That was a bit silly wasn't it? But it was nice. He made her laugh and laughing was good. It made you happy and happy was nice. Sad wasn't a nice feeling and Noa knew she had been feeling sad far too much since she had gotten to camp. It was time to completely change that and be the happy person she usually was. That she had always been. Who she had been before Gavin. But he was history. There was Cato now and if she could ever admit to him that she liked him he would make her happy again.

She smiled at him and nodded. "Yeah. Sometimes stuff happens." Noa agreed and nodded again. And suddenly there was Daniel blurting something out. He.. What? Had Cato told him anything? No.. No that wasn't it. He was correcting himself now. It was because of what she had told him. Okay.. Well, at least he got the idea that Cato liked her and he was a boy. She could trust his judgement right? "Oh.. Well.. That'd be great if he did like me.. You know.." Noa said and made a face at him.

"And I do want to tell him.. But.. I'm kind of.." Noa started and squinted her eyes in thought. "I don't know.. Old-fashioned I guess?" She continued and looked at him not too sure of what she'd just said. "If he likes me.. I kind of would want him to be the one to tell me first.. And ask me if I like him back.." Noa said and stared at the grass. It probably was a bit old-fashioned, but Noa simply liked to be the asked and not the asker. Maybe it was silly, but it was who she was.

So she did have friends, that was good, he felt good for her but bad for him because that meant that he was the one with no friends besides Pixie and if Noa agreed, Noa. Great, he went from being popular and having tons of friends back in high-school, to having no friends at all besides his half sister. Great. That was just great. Of course, she had Cato and...an Aphrodite girl? Noa didn't seem like the type to be friends with Aphrodite's kids. "That's nice," he said, "you see, you have two important people here. I mean, it's usually a lot better to have two really amazing friends, you know? Best friends, friends you can count on than having lots of friends that are more like acquaintances," he said. And he just learned that there in camp, since he realized that having one best friend was far better than having lots of almost friends.

"And your best friend is an Aphrodite girl," he repeated. "So the goddess' kids not only stare at themselves all the time, then?" he asked as he chuckled a bit. "No intention to offend though," he added quickly, "I sound a little bit into the stereotypes thing don't I? I'm really sorry," great, he screwed up. He really did wonder if the goddess' kids only stared at themselves all day, but he didn't mean to make it sound offensive or mean.

Awesome! He scored! He made her laugh! Yes, stuff did happen but making her laugh also counted as stuff that happened, only that this time it was awesome stuff happening. But then, again, he had to tell her that Cato did like her. Oh please, he just wanted to spare the little girl from all her questions and sadness. It wasn't a bad thing right? Nope, it wasn't but telling her what Cato said was, so he just had to swallow everything. "I bet it'd be great," he told her, "you'd be a really lovely couple, kind of like high school sweethearts, right?" the boy said, trying to keep her hopes up, because...the dude did like her!

Noa had a point. In Daniel's personal opinion, he liked it when girls kept things to themselves. He always considered that the right thing to do was letting the guy say something first. Yepp, he was pretty old-fashioned too. "No, you're right," he told her, "for real. I mean I think you should tell him, soon, but I think you should wait too. I mean, give him some more time," he told her. "Would be a nice Valentine's gift, wouldn't it?"
