As of a few weeks now Caìtlynn knew what she wanted to do for her training session lesson. It had bugged her for a while that she didn't know anything she was particularity good at, she was a fair shooter but Marina had been way better than her and even Charles was much better at it and had even helped her with it a lot so besides from that her skill didn't go much further than applying mascara and running on stiletto's.
It had been quite an epiphany when she realised she could use her gift of Charmspeak to help her fellow demi-gods get a bit immune to the power, now she was a second year here at camp she had the gift under control, better than last year at least and hopefully the results would be even better at the end of the lesson. That way not only the "students" had something of it but also she had.

She didn't need to prepare anything besides chairs for them to sit on at the beginning. She wanted to tell them something about her gift and what she wanted to let them learn by it and she knew the attention span of most children who go through puberty isn't the strongest, therefore chairs were necessary.
Standing in front of the chairs that were placed in a half-circle she waited for everyone to come and be seated until she would start her explanation.

As the sun shone bright upon the circle of the arena and bathed everyone in a warm an bright light Caìtlynn waited patiently until it looked like this was as much students she was going to get. If there were people that might join later on she didn't mind if they stayed silent and didn't draw to much attention to themselves.
Folding her hands in front of her she took a few steps forward as to show them she was about to say something. "Alright I'm very glad you all decided to come here today," he voice sounded much more secure than she felt, what if her Charmspeak failed on her, than the whole reason of her lesson would be gone.

"First I would like to ask if someone knows anything about Charmspeak, please raise your hand and mention the first thing that comes into your mind,"

[OOC: Hi everyone and welcome to this lesson! Thanks so much for joining. The first three people to raise their hand can say something about Charmspeak.

When we get to the real purpose of this lesson please keep in mind that Caìtlynn is a second year and almost seventeen years old, it's not common for people who are younger to be able to resist Charmspeak, even though they might be in an older year at camp. As for children of The big three and who are older than she is, you can fodder about it being easier for them to restrain the urge to do as she says but keep it realistic. Thanks]

Even though Claire didn't really want to be at camp, that didn't mean she wasn't going to take advantage of the positive aspects. According to her half-brother Gabriel (or so she assumed, and she was 99% positive that she was right) there was nothing positive or interesting about the camp. Even though he hadn't out right said that, Claire was still completely (or almost completely) confident that this was an accurate statement. However, the daughter of Dionysus had been able to find a couple of things that she liked about camp. First of all, it was magically warm or something so she could go swimming basically whenever she wanted AND she could wear shorts all the time. Something that reminded her of her home in California. She definitely preferred Los Angeles, but camp was better than the other breezy parts of New York. Aside from the weather, the girl was also pleased that she could have grape juice whenever she wanted. Her mum had put a limit on her intake since she first tried the drink.

Maybe it was a bit stereotypical that the daughter of Dionysus (her father being the god of ritual madness and the grape harvest) liked grape juice. In fact, it was her preferred beverage. But how could she resist the sweet tasting drink? It was just so good, simple as that. Gods, she sounded like somebody on a Welch's commercial! But back to her point (she had a tendency for her thoughts to wander, rather far actually) that even though she disliked camp, she at least tried to make it fun while she was stuck there. The sooner she learned to defend herself from monsters and such, the sooner she could leave. So Claire had taken to attending training sessions and such. However, the session she was to be attending that day seemed very different from the few previous ones. Even though she had technically attended only two others, Claire still considered herself an expert of the topics they had discussed (daggers and how to make a muscle balm).

When she saw the very odd set up of the arena, Claire was absolutely positive that something was going to be different than the other two sessions she had attended. And she was right. Dragging the heels of her shiny gold shoes on the rocky floor, the girl slowly made her way to the semi-circle of chairs where she tentatively bent down, perching herself on the very edge. It could be some test after all, maybe once their backs touched the seat, monsters would pop out! It was obviously a possibility. If unicorns were real, then monsters could obviously appear out of thin air. It was very obvious to the twelve year old. When Caitlynn stepped forward, the girl predicted that they were to be given their instructions: to kill the monsters she was about to release.

This was one of the negative affects of having a wild imagination, they often embarrassed themselves. Even though she hadn't shared these thoughts with anyone, the girl was ashamed of thinking of such a silly possibility. She just had to make up for it! The girl stabbed her hand into the air and practically shouted, "It's a gift for Aphrodite's children." If she was wrong, she would have to wear a paper bag for the rest of her life. Two embarrassments in a row, how could she ever live with herself? But Claire knew that she was right, it was a good thing, too. She thought that paper bags were ugly.

Noah was starting to dread the so-called lovely weather that never seemed to falter around camp. He surely would appreciate some rain, or snow, even – to spice things up a bit, having grown tired of having to protect his eyes with a pair of dark sunglasses every time he as much as stepped outside of his cabin. He was wearing them now, as he made his way over to the Arena, perhaps a bit in too good of a mood for his doing. He wore a dashing smile as he entered the glorious building, greeting the tiny girl he knew to be one of the Aphrodite’s accordingly, before looking around to find a seat.

He sat down in the middle of the second row of chairs, trying to make himself at home as he propped the sunglasses on top of his head to look at their teacher properly, curious as to what they were going to be learning today. He knew he was early to judge, but he figured there was not going to be any fighting involved – seeing as the girl standing in front of the group seemed not at all an impressive fighter. She had some impressive looks, though, that was for sure. He cleared his throat at the thought, slowly shaking his head as he deemed on paying attention to what was being said, instead. It seemed that it was the right thing to do.

His eyebrows bunched up together slightly as he thought about it. Did he know anything about Charmspeak? Ah, yes – of course. As far as he knew, some of Aphrodite’s children were able to use this slightly creepy talent. He raised his hand none too shyly, waiting for the short girl to give him permission to speak, before opening his mouth. “Correct me if I am wrong, but,” he began, a sheepish grin plastered on his face as he talked. “Doesn’t it get used to coax people into doing what you want them to do?” he asked, hoping not to come off as a complete fool, before moving to lower his hand quickly. He slouched in his seat, hands folding in his lap as he waited for an answer. As far as he knew, he was not able to use the particular power himself, being a child of Apollo, and all. It did seem rather interesting to be able to get people to do some awful chores for you, seeing as he absolutely hated making his own bed in the morning.

Whitnee bounded into the lesson in her usual attire of shorts and band t-shirt. Today, it was an AWOLNATION tee Max had recently sent to her through snail mail, along with a can of thick tomato soup for pranking. She had recently taken quite a liking to the band, playing their songs on her iPod about just as often as her My Chemical Romance songs. She pulled at the bottom of her black t-shirt as she made her way through the chairs, towards a friend she had just spotted. "Claire!" she called as she knocked over a chair on her way towards her fellow redhead.

Whoops. A loud clang sounded as Whitnee quickly bent down, received the chair, and set it upright once again and continued towards her friend. Finally, she had sat down next to her friend without another accident. "What's up?" she began, but then the lesson started. Who was teaching them today? Oh. Dreamcatcher. Whitnee had seen the girl around, but never before really talked to her, and her stereotypical ways kind of got in the way of her judgment making. The girl was from Aphrodite. Aphrodite started with an A. Cabins that started with A were nearly always terrible. Today's less on could also be terrible and pointless and a waste of her time. Whitnee discreetly rolled her eyes at the girl with a sigh. Oh boy.

This revelation made her slouch in her seat a bit more as she listened to the girl talk. Blah blah blah thanks for coming blah blah ask blah blah blah Charmspeak. Wait. What? Charmspeak? Oh, this wasn't even going to be some sort of practical lesson. Dreamcatcher was going to talk the entire time, she was sure of it. Whtinee sighed loudly again and stayed slouched in her seat.

Cody sighed. He was really getting tired of these lessons. They were tying his patience. Each one annoyed him more than the last. The only decent one had been Noa's and he may have been bias about that. She was his sister, and he had to give her the benefit of the doubt. As for the rest....well, it was a miracle that mean Cody had not come out to play. He took a seat and stifled a yawn. He did not want to seem rude, so he tried his best to seem like he cared. He didn't care of course.

Yes, he respected the power of charmspeak. In fact when he had planned on taking over camp, the ability had been on the top of his list to secure. Currently he saw no point in it now. How was this a lesson? How could they learn from this if they weren't children of Aphrodite. Heck, it was a rare ability even for children of Aphrodite. So why were they learning about it? Apparently the Aphrodite girl just wanted to talk about herself and how pretty and amazing she was. Once again, these lessons were testing his ability to be nice. It was just a habit to point out the flaws in people. He bit his lip to make sure no words escape. He just listened to people respond and kept his mouth tightly shut.

This class was as pointless as a white crayon. It would be like if he tried to teach a class on growing a flower in two second flat. It made no sense. Heck, so far he even had to give Justin credit for having a lesson that at least related to everyone. Sword fighting, plant growing were all things a normal person could do with no god like powers. Charmspeak was not. Maybe there was more to the lesson, but he could not see it. Cody heard someone sigh. Well at least he wasn't the only one that found this lesson useless.

Lana had been rather looking forward to this lesson. She knew it was her cabin leader's lesson and so it was pretty exciting to be there. Not that she had paid a lot of attention when Caìtlynn had been thinking about what she could do for the lesson so it was mostly a surprise when Caìtlynn started talking about charmspeak. She knew the older girl could do it, but she also was convinced that she'd never use it on anyone on purpose. Well, maybe in this class.

She looked to see who exactly she had sat next to and it turned out to be some kid that looked like he was from Demeter (He had the bushy eyebrow syndrome just like Noa) and she gave him a small smile before focusing on Caìtlynn again. She was asking who knew something about charmspeak and the answer came from someone else with bushy eyebrows? Didn't these people know the word tweezers? Sure, Lana may have not been the most focused on appearance but eyebrows were just silly when they looked like that, although they did fit Noa. Maybe this guy was another one of Demeter's kids.

But he gave the right answer and Lana simply watched Caìtlynn to see how she would handle everything. She still wondered what they would be doing this lesson but since she had started the charmspeak conversation, Lana didn't doubt that they would be something like practicing resisting it, although she wasn't sure if it was actually possible to resist charmspeak. It would probably turn out to be a good thing if they did, though.

Gavin had never liked traditional schooling. There was too much lecture and note taking, and not nearly enough experience and hands-on focus. Gavin thrived when he could use his hands, as most Hephaestus kids seemed to be keen on. It was interesting, being surrounded by kids who were like him in some of the most crucial aspects. Gavin appreciated it, and the classes? They were killer. Almost literally. If only he could have this sort of atmosphere on a daily basis, during the school year. Gavin dreaded going to actual school, where the letters swam about when he attempted to read literature - he was even prone to blurting out certain phrases in Ancient Greek when reading aloud. That was embarrassing. Good thing the rest of his mortal class chalked it up to gibberish.

Here, though... it was like a breath of fresh air. No letters swimming about, no pencil and paper... there was the occasional lecture, but Gavin could sit through those until it was time to get moving and using weaponry and such. No way was every lesson practical. It was a tad strange how regular campers taught them, but heh, if Chiron and Mr. D thought them capable, who was he to argue? He was still learning the ropes here.

Still, the blonde Aphrodite chick teaching the class didn't exactly seem cut out for teaching them about various fighting tactics. Gavin really did not like the children of Aphrodite, for whatever odd reason that he could not place. He was actually rather open minded when it came to others and labels. The girls made him uncomfortable for one what with being able to manipulate guys simply by flirting, and the boys were too vain for him to really take interest in getting to know them. And charmspeak, evidently, was an ability only some of them could possess. Excellent. Gavin assumed Caitlynn was one of them, if she was teaching them about it. Not nearly as amusing as other training sessions, such as archery, but it would do, he supposed.

Axel had always hated lectures. They were always boring and he'd always fall asleep when he got one. His 4th grade math teacher had given him one once, because of an inccedent involving a ketchup packet and a pencil....... That was a awesome prank that landed him in I.S.S. for three days. He was in that room a lot when he was in school. He was quite the prankster at his old school. Some of his friends voted him the class clown of the year. It wasn't officially put into the yearbook, but he had some of his friends put below his picture "Best ever Class Clown". That was pretty funny.

He'd walked silently into the arena, which didn't look the same. There was chairs and stuff. He took a seat in the back and some chick was up on stage. He figured she was an Aphrodite kid. Axel hadn't met any Aphrodite kids yet, since he was still a little new, but he'd asked around to find out about them. Campers said they like to talk about themselves a lot. Well, he's not one to judge a book by it's cover, so he decided to listen to this girl. She said something about charm speaking. Charm what? Axel had no idea what that was, and he was curious so he raised his hand and said "What on earth is charm speaking?"

It was quite miraculous how everyone kept calm and was seriously listening to what she was going to say. She wasn’t going to talk for long though, she knew very well that they weren’t hoping for a lecture about Charmspeak, a gift indeed only for Aphrodite children. Waiting patiently until all of them were seated and looking at her and looked for a few hands. When Claire raised hers she nodded at her with a smile and smiled broader as she heard her fact. “That’s is true,” talking to all of them and not only, Caìtlynn continued. “Charmspeak is a gift from Aphrodite that she can only away to her own children. Whether that is a daughter or a son is not a problem but she has to give it to them herself,” nodding again at the young girl she then pointed at the slightly older guy who raised his hand.

“You are correct,” she nodded to him. “That is exactly what it does. When someone possesses Charmspeak completely and is talking to someone who isn’t used to resist this they can make him or her do anything,” walking towards them a little more, taking slow steps on her high heels she clasped her hands in front of them once more. Now she had actually already answered the question Axel Young asked she still looked at him as she spoke. “It’s a form of speak which make the one talked to do anything the speaker wants,” hoping this answered his question better she was sure the rest of the lesson would.

“And that’s what I am going to you today,” gazing at them all in the hope she would find some excitement she continued. “I am not going to just show you my powers but I want you to learn that you can resist it,” pacing in front of them now she really hoped they wouldn’t thought she only did this to look amazing or something, she wanted to help them, to prevent the possibility that other Aphrodite’s, would they ever posses the gift as well, use it against them. They were preparing for whatever was out there, weren’t they? This was a good training if you asked her. “Please stand up from your seats now and put them to the side,” moving over to the empty seat she started to already stack a few chairs and put them away to make place for them to stand.

When all chairs were gone she took her spot back in front of them all. “Take a place somewhere, stand somewhere that gives you enough room to do anything I might tell you to without hitting someone standing close to you,”

[OOC: What were are going to do is let Caìtlynn say a some actions like “bend over” in Charmspeak. What they should try to do is resist it. This is very hard of course, the power of speak is that whatever they hear as a command they do because they want to. Please keep this in mind as you fodder about trying to resist it. At the end of the lesson is could be easier to resist it but this is not granted.
I mention this again because it's really important everything keeps realistic! <3]

Matthew had been a bit too caught up in training that morning, he had dozed off in the Zeus cabin. When he woke up, it was quite late. He quickly ran a hand through his hair and made way to the arena. He wasn't going to miss the lesson Caìtlynn had prepared, not by chance. He wanted to see how she was doing, his training lesson in swords had failed miserably. It hadn't been his fault that they had to use wooden swords. Actually it had been Justin's fault. Accidents do happen however, so he didn't blame him.

When he arrived there, he saw how people stacked some chairs. But of course he was looking at one girl in particular. His smile widened when he saw the short blond girl standing there in front of him. He walked over to her and grabbed the chair out of her hands and kissed her cheek. After a small wink he moved the chairs away and then walked back to her. Yes he was late for class and he hoped she didn't mind. She knew he was training too hard, didn't she? Well actually it wasn't really an excuse. He wondered if she would have gotten mad at others if they were late. Probably not, Caìtlynn wasn't mad that quickly.

"Sorry I'm late," he whispered softly. "But even so, I couldn't miss a lesson given by you huh?" he said. He didn't need to learn about resisting charmspeak, since he already could do that, mostly, except when he was feeling low. He was here for mental support, wasn't that one of the things that boyfriends were supposed to do? He smiled and took place somewhere.

So there was more to the lesson. He had feared they would have to listen to her prattle on about her powerful she was. Before his attack, he had worried greatly about stupid people with great power. He didn't really see Caìtlynn as being stupid, just vapid. That wasn't exactly a good fit with her power either. Before his attack, he would have considered her a threat worthy of being crushed, but he was over such silly ideas. It was still true, such a power was dangerous. He simply did not believe it was his place anymore to deal with it. He didn't even notice some Aphrodite girl smile in his direction. Even in his enlightened state, he tended to ignore people from that cabin.

Still, he was not pleased with the turn of events. Wasn't the point of these training sessions to prepare them for fighting monsters? Wasn't int meant to prepare them for the outside world? As far as he was aware, hell hounds did not charmspeak. No, they just tried to rip out your throat with their teeth. This lesson was training them to fight other demigods. Before he would have been intrigued by this.

She was essentially teaching them her weakness and in connection the weakness of every Aphrodite child. Okay, maybe she was stupid. That would be like if Achilles went up to the Trojan gate, took off his shoe and went 'Hey, if you shoot me in the heel, I die.' Yes, before he would have seen this as an opportunity to late exploit a weakness, but now he just saw it as plain stupidity. Of course, he would not voice this as he usually had. No, he just sat there and waited until they got full instructions.

He stood and put away his chair. Seriously, with the last few training sessions if this camp got attacked, they would all die. Oh lets sing a rap about the greek alphabet while hell hounds play tug of war with our guts. No, lets plant some flowers to scare away the Minotaur.

Oh great, the moody looking boyfriend was here too. It was like this camp was conspiring to make his say bad things. He bit his tongue and shook away the negative thoughts. Okay, let's do this. Could he resist charmspeak. Hmm, he doubted it. Not on the first try. He hated to admit it, but he was of a practical mind. So all he had to do was wait until a action was given. He'd learn by the end, and he'd file the information away for possible future use. Always be prepared.

Brandon lumbered into the class in the arena, not really excited by it. It was being taught by an Aphrodite kid, so he wasn't exactly looking forward to it. Groaning inwardly, Brandon noticed a younger red head sitting in the midst of the other students. Whitnee. Gods, he hated that girl.

Sighing, Brandon spotted a fellow cabin mate of his, (Axel) whom he did't know the name of yet. Of course, he should know his brother's name. It was his brother, but Brandon just didn't care too terribly much. After glancing around to see if there was anyone else he could sit by, someone he knew better, the son of Ares walked over to his brother and plopped into the chair naxt to him, muttering a quick, "Hey."

Charmspeak. Oh, Brandon knew what that was. He'd heard the stories and rumors of the thing, and was already prepared to hate it. Instead of offering his two cents, Brandon kept his mouth shut and just let the other kids talk. His bro, the one on his left, asked maybe one of the stupidest questions he could in this lesson. Rolling his eyes, Brandon looked at the ground, not wanting to seem rude. But really? What id charmspeak? Even in his short time he was here, Brandon knew. This kid was newer than him, true, but he'd been around for a couple days. Someone should'a told him.

Now he had to get up. Pressing his hand into his jean clad leg for a brace, he got up, and stepped towards the corner of the arena, hopefully avoiding the worst of the orders from their "teacher".

Of course Claire was right that they were going to be doing something different during that lesson. However, she wasn't expecting her first friend at camp half-blood to come running over to her, knocking over chairs in the process. "Hi Whitnee!" she said, rather loudly. She was just being enthusiastic and exercising her right to chat before the lesson started. The twelve year old was about to share her monster theory with her friend but the short Aphrodite girl was starting the lesson and she was feeling too embarrassed at the moment to chance whispering to her fellow red-head. She had been silly enough to think that a monster was going to appear out of thin air for their lesson when in fact they were doing charms-speak. What if Caitlynn caught her whispering? If she didn't know that monsters didn't appear out of thin air, was the information she knew about charm-speak false as well?

She was relieved that it wasn't and even let out a sigh when the older blonde said she was right. Even if she had gotten the answer wrong, she was certainly not actually going to wear a paper bag over her head for the rest of her life. Paper bags were super ugly. She turned her blue eyes on the Aphrodite girl whom was continuing with her explanation. Thanks to a rather annoying camper (Axel) she had to explain the whole concept again. The twelve year old shot a dirty look in his direction for not listening. According to Claire, it was very rude not to listen and then ask for it to be repeated. She was listening, she knew that they were going to attempt to resist charm-speak. Claire immediately thought that it was going to be a piece of cake. Being the over-confident person that she was, she couldn't see the difficulty in not doing something she didn't want to do. In fact, she did it all the time.

Smirking at the thought of how easy it was going to be, the daughter of Dionysus stood up and carrying her chair to a pre-existing pile, dropped it onto the top of the stack. Wandering back over to Whitnee, but an appropriate distance away, she finally chanced a whisper, "Have you ever done this before? Sounds real easy." She gave her fellow red-head a smile and then turned her attention back to the short Aphrodite girl, wondering vaguely all of the possible things she would tell them to do.

Whitnee smiled at Claire whenever she saw that she was about to speak but got cut off by Aphroditie chick. She did not like this girl. Not only did she probably think she was ten times better than any girl because she could do her petty little charmspeak thing and was supposedly pretty, but she was going to give them a boring lesson, and she had cuto ff her friend from some possibly dire important message. whitnee sighed as she listened to all the answers about charmspeak, which seemed like a very boring ablility. Then, a question came out of nowhere in a voice she was sad to say she recognized. As Axel spoke, she twisted in her chair and saw the son of Ares. Oh boy. Whitnee quickly turned back around and began to sink lower in her seat. Maybe he hadn't seen her. He had to not se her. she didn't have time for him.

With the resto of the class, she got up to push the chairs around, desparatley trying to hide herself from Axel behind Claire. Maybe it looked a bit suspicious, but she didn't care. When the chick spoke again, she stopped trying to hide and began to answer Claire's question. "I actually haven't ever heard anyone use charmspeak," She didn't even knownyone at camp could use the ability, much less did she care. "It does sound pretty easy, though." All you have to do is... nothing.

With another long sigh she took her place in the arena, hoping that Axel hadn't seen her. Ever since their encounter at the lake she had avidly ignored the boy, hoping she could stay away from any awkward conversations until their meetup at Zeus' Rock. And also hopefully, this lesson wouldn't be as boring as she thought it would be. Maybe it would be funny to watch all o the people do the commands. Maybe everything would turn out alright with Axel.

And maybe her hair was blonde.

Well it seemed like most of the people that had decided to come weren't really anxious to get going but they weren't like crashing the party either. Caìtlynn understood that they would have prejudice against her since she was a daughter of Aphrodite and their cabin leader and stuff, they probably looked at her like some mini Barbie or something. Caìtlynn wanted them to realise that she wasn't like that, that she wasn't vain or arrogant or anything. She wasn't a fighter either but she still wanted to work with them. This could be a great lesson of they tried just as hard a she did. For the moment she was happy enough that people hadn't ignored her instructions, although that hadn't really been a few, but at least she could move on with her lesson.

When Matthew entered the arena as well she smiled at his quick kiss but didn't linger around him since the people that had come weren't her to see that sort of stuff. When everyone had found a place where they could move freely Caìtlynn looked at everyone to make sure they weren't still standing too close to each other. Letting her green gaze glide over everyone that had come she didn't see anyone who should scoot up so the real lesson could now start.

What she had been think about the last few weeks actually had been the commands she should give them. The tricky thing about Charmspeak was, that it also let you do things that you normal couldn't. Okay, so it couldn't make you fly or survive jump from a 12 story building, but it could make you sing like an professional singer, or make karate kicks like one had trained since infancy. The creepy thing about Charmspeak was also that one felt quite happy by obeying the orders and they always sounded better than the thing you had wanted to do before. What Caìtlynn wanted them to learn this first lesson, was to try and get that edge of, the feeling of happiness when obeying an Charmspeak order. "So I'm simply going to tell you an order in Charmspeak, listen carefully and try to feel what it does to your body, do not resist yet, it will be quite useless,"

Clearing her throat one time she took a deep breath and then closed her eyes. Concentrating on the power of Charmspeak she heard her voice drop a pitch as she said her first order. "Bend forward and touch your knees,"
Watching them all closely she knew staring with a quite harmless order was always the best thing to do.
"Okay! Now listen up!" clapping her hands which would wake them up immediately she spoke in her normal voice again. "That feeling that you got, when you did as I said? We're gonna get rid of that. The moment you're aware of being charmed by Charmspeak you are already half way for resisting it completely,"

She let that sink in for a moment before she would start the remainder of the lesson. Right now she would just speak simple orders like the one before. Things like, jump up and down three times, clap your hands, sing the USA National Anthem, all simple stuff. It wouldn't be fair if she let them do anything real embarrassing.

[So this is going to be the remainder of the class! You can fodder about any command being given, things like I mentioned above. If you're not sure if the order is simple enough don't post it and use something different.
I'll post again the end of the lesson at Friday for you to post out]
