Ethan thought this day was going to be relaxed, he had set his eyes on the Aphrodite cabin today. No not the girls, the cabin. It had been like a treasure chest. Only he didn't have the guts to just walk in and explore, so he stayed near the cabin and watched it from a short distance. When he was about to come out of his hiding place and enter the Aphrodite cabin, someone had placed a hand on his shoulder. He wasn't scared, even though his reaction might have looked like he was. Ethan turned around, a little annoyed and looked up to a centaur he knew was Chiron. Ethan swallowed a few times. Was he in trouble?

"Hello, I wasn't doing anything. Nothing to see here..." Ethan tried, his voice sounding really.. mischievous. He looked behind Chiron, trying to find the best escape route. He was stopped however, when he tried to walk away. What was this about anyways? He hadn't done anything wrong.. the past week.. Or something. So Chiron told him he had to come with him to the big house? Why? "Very lovely, but I've got plans.." Ethan said, still wanting to go away. He sighed as Chiron kept stopping him though and decided to come with him.

At the Big House, Ethan hesitated to go in. What was going on? Was he going to get punished or something? Did they find his secret stash under his bed? Probably not, he had hidden it perfectly fine. Or maybe Mr. D. was going to complain about him not showing up for the Mr. Demigod competition? He had bailed badly, but yeah it was a camp for half Gods. Who cared who looked best? No one looked good with sweat, bruises and dirt all over them anyways. They should have capture the flag around here or something. Sport competitions, fighting competitions. He would have won them all. Or else he was just going to get angry. He didn't like to be angry and he never was, unless he lost something.

Being competitive had its pro's and its cons. Like it was really good for willpower, anyone would try harder and harder just to win. But it brought a huge temper, with Ethan that was. And jealousy, don't forget about jealousy. He grinned slightly. It was kind of exciting to stand in the big house, being called here by Mr. D. He wondered how many other demigods had been here. He looked around mischievously. It was big indeed...

Mr. D sat at his desk. Fiddling with a necklace that belonged to one of the other camp members. He put up with a lot. Let the Hermes kids get away with many, many things. But when someone came to complain to him about it, is when he took the initiative to at least try to set things straight. One of the older girls, Kipp, had come into the big house not too long ago. Complaining about a necklace that was stolen from her. Wanting it back before it was time for the other kids to go home for the year. And she also wanted to see him actually do something about it.

What did she think? That he just sat here all day doing nothing? No, he ran a camp. Protected these kids from the horrible things out in the world that wanted to harm them. And all in good humor....for the most part. Sighing, he checked his watch, then picked up a can of diet coke and took a long drink from it. Setting it back down, he heard the door to his office open, and he stared at the boy who walked into the room.

"Sit down." He said flatly, nodding to a chair that was across from him. "Ethan, I've got a story I want to tell you. Completely true. And I want your thoughts on it." Mr. D sat up straight and rested his elbows on the edge of the desk. "I was walking outside yesterday. Enjoying the sunshine, getting some air. Checking up on all you lovely, lovely children. When this boy, ran out in front of me. Leaving the Apollo cabin. And as he was running, this, fell out of his pocket." Mr. D dropped the necklace on the top of the desk in between the two of them.

"The funny thing is, not soon after I picked this up and came back here. One of the older girls came to tell me that this exact necklace was stolen from her. Now, Ethan, would you have any idea who that boy could have been?" Mr. D folded his hands in front of him, and stared directly at the boy.

Ethan sat down as Mr. D. told him to. With a pretty annoyed face he stared back at the man who was supposed to be a God. Who was he kidding? He didn't even look like a God. He looked like a grumpy old man who didn't have a life.. and if that was a God, being a demigod was really pathetic. Nevertheless he didn't show this attitude to him and just stared at him. In his mind he was already plotting the next cabin raid. Was it going to be the Aphrodite cabin or the Demeter cabin mm..? Alright alright, maybe he should pay a little attention to what Mr. D. had to say to him. He didn't really like people who were supposed to have authority.

When Mr. D. put down the necklace on the table, his eyes widened slightly. How did he... so he had lost it alright.. He rubbed his eyes quickly, making it look like he had something in them or that he just was itchy. Oh man.. he was so bad at lying, no way he was going to get away with this. So his father gave him the gift to be all sneaky, fast, being a thief, cheat in games. But he couldn't lie? That was just pathetic and not fair. Maybe he was, in a way, a little too honest?

Okay, he couldn't tell him it was he who did it. He had already been caught for stealing before and he already had said that he'd never do it again. It was just too hard. That necklace had been so shiny, and it was probably very valuable. He could have sold it.. not that he was going to leave camp or anything. But maybe one of the Aphrodite girls would have bought it. "It could have..," mm who was he going to frame for this one? "Jake. It was Jake Owen. I saw him running too." he sniffed slightly and smiled a little guilty.

Would Mr. D buy his story? Maybe if Ethan tried to look innocent. But.. he wasn't a girl. There was no way on earth that he could pull of the innocent look. Then he just shrugged and leaned back a little in his chair. Even though the smell in the big house was not exactly nice, he sat there with a poker face like nothing had happened.

Mr. D moved to lean back in his chair again. Leaving the necklace on the desk as blatant evidence of what he knew Ethan had done. Listening to the boy carefully. So like Hermes, blaming it on anyone and everyone else. Didn't matter what it was, just as long as there was someone to frame it on and he didn't get into trouble. Mr. D sat in silence for a moment. Mulling over Ethan's words, and thinking about what he was going to say in return. He wasn't trying to wiggle information out of Ethan, because he knew Ethan had done it.

"Problem is Ethan. Is Mr. Owens doesn't wear a jacket while he's running. And he certainly doesn't run out of other people's cabin's with their things." He stared straight into Ethan's eyes. Studied his smug little face. Ah well, might as well drop the bomb while he had the urge to.

"Not to mention." he said, standing up and leaning against the side of his desk. Arms folded over his chest. "It wasn't Jake I was walking behind. It was you." Mr. D smiled smugly, and walked over to grab another diet coke. The can that was on his desk now empty.

"I tolerate a lot from all of you smug little children. Especially from the ones in Hermes' cabin. I can't change the fact that your father is a no good, lying, stealing cheat. And neither can you. And while it's in your nature, lets say, to follow in his less than satisfactory footsteps. There is no need to break into the cabins and steal from the other campers." Mr. D walked back to his desk, setting down the cold carbonated drink. And popping the top open.

So it hadn't worked. When would his lying ever work? Mmm he was a bad Hermes child. He was almost sure that his father would be disappointed in him right now. Could he call that God his father? It's what he was, wasn't it? He couldn't help but get a little angry when Mr. D insulted his father. He knew that this was probably all true, but no one had to act like this.. like Mr. D was any better. He kept clinging to that horrible coke of his until his teeth would probably fall out. He was angry anyways. If this was a game, he had lost. And he didn't. like. losing. He looked up at Mr. D, grinding his teeth and clenching his fists slightly. Was he supposed to confess that he did it now?

What was the point, he already knew that he'd done it. No need to say more. If he was going to admit that he did it.. he would have lost completely. And yet it had no point defending himself any longer. So now the next game started, how to get only little punishment? Gah it was punishment enough to be one of the few campers left at camp when summer ended. Which also meant that Mr. D had more time to watch him. He didn't want to be watched. He was sixteen, not six. He had to think, and think quickly. What could he do right now to get less punishment..?

He looked up at Mr. D. Not with his annoyed face from only moments ago, no. Ethan looked at the sloppy God with a very sad face. Sometimes Ethan could act, just for his own benefit. "I can't help myself mister. The urge to steal.. it controls me. I have no control over my body and I lose myself in that feeling until I have taken that thing that my mind has spotted..." he widened his eyes lightly and then looked at his feet. "I feel really bad..." okay there, done. Nothing more otherwise it would be really overdone. He wanted to smile satisfied.. but he couldn't do that right now. First await his punishment..

"Human urges can be controlled Ethan, I'm far from dull. If Gods can control their urges, so can you." he said thickly, pointing a finger at him. "So cut the act, I know you aren't sorry. If you were, you wouldn't still be doing it. So wipe the ridiculous face you have on off." Mr D stared at him, picking up his still very full soda can, and dropping it into the trashcan next to him. Soda splashed all over the bag, and some even got on the wall. He didn't give it a second thought.

Mr. D sat back down, and took a long breath. He folded his fingers together and looked back at Ethan. Trying to imagine how smug the boy must feel right now. Time to bring him down a few notches. "If you were me, what would you give as a fitting punishment?" He asked after a moment. Arching his brow slightly. "I'd like to know, even if I don't take it into consideration. I want to know what you deem fitting for yet again rifling through people's things. You know, you're quite lucky that Miss. Kipp's possessions aren't valuable. I could only imagine the disappointment on your face if you tried to sell a piece of junk like this." Mr. D smirked. and moved to rest his arms on the arms of his chair.

He leaned back, waiting for Ethan to speak. Ready to kick the brat out and send him off with Chiron. Even though he knew Chiron wasn't as strict with the kids as he was, he knew that Chiron had enough sense to make sure the kids did as they were told. Did as he told them to do.

Whoops. Ethan thought. This God didn't look quite happy. He had... been wrong. He had underestimated a God (in his defense, he kind of looked stupid.. like really..). And now he probably had to pay for it. Though he didn't want that... at all. Wait no, he was Ethan Anderson. He was not just giving up without trying harder to win. "Oh but I am sorry, Mr. D." Sorry that I have been caught before raiding other cabins, including the Big house yes... Ethan thought. He wasn't going to say that. And he was sure that this big oaf of a God couldn't read his mind...yet.

He watched at the God stood up and smashed his coke in the bin. What a waste.. Ethan was sometimes pretty two-sided. To the demigods he was a sweet guy. But to people like Mr. D... no. He hated people with authority. They were supposed to be 'higher' than the rest. Which made them 'better'. Ethan hated that, people who thought they were better than others. And some gods probably were pretty self-observed already. Maybe all of them even. Sure, they were Gods. But they probably didn't even do their best being one. Then again Ethan really had no idea what the Gods were doing there back in Olympus. It was not like he had to believe every single story in his history books now that one myth was true.

Oh, so he had to think of his own punishment? He smirked. Alright, not that bad after all. He knew Gods had their weakness somewhere.. What God was Mr. D again? Oh, yeah, Dionysus.. the wine Ad-... God. Just in case he could read his mind. He cleared his throat, that sneaky grin hadn't wiped off yet. Just a signature being a Hermes kid, right? "Well.. let me think about that.. yeah I need to be punished..." he said. He could think of enough. The only thing he absolutely hated was losing, the rest.. ah well. He didn't care about looks, scars were cool so he didn't care about pain. Judgments of others? That wasn't interesting either.. "You could ground me.. or something.." he said. He had no idea what kind of punishment was even possible in this camp.

He stood up. "So, thanks for having me... but." he checked his expensive free watch. "I have somewhere else to be.." he smiled and made his way to the door... yes he had. He was going to the climbing wall with Pepper and he would probably win again..

Mr. D grumbled to himself. "No, sit back down." his voice seemed to echo throughout the room. "I'm not done with you, now plant your happy backside back in the chair and keep your trap shut." He said, pointing to the chair. "Yes, I could ground you. Because that makes so much sense in a camp the size of Long Island." Mr. D tapped his fingers on the top of his desk impatiently.

"You and Chiron are going to be spending some quality time together. Polishing the swords, daggers, and other weapons in the Armory. Tomorrow Morning, bright and early. Chiron will come collect you, and you can spend the day with shiny things, and make them glimmer even more.' Mr D explained to him, digging around a drawer. He pulled out a good sized tub with the seal still on it. He stood up, and dropped the tub of polish down in front of Ethan.

"Don't lose it." He said, smirking. Then stuffed the necklace that had been sitting out on his desk the whole time, back into his pocket. "Now, you can leave. Say Good Morning to Chiron for me tomorrow." Mr. D chuckled to himself, and sat down again. Spinning around to look out of his window. Well, now he was a bit bored. Having no one to antagonize, and nothing to do. But completely satisfied with his decisions.
