At some point time just past you by while you where at Camp half-blood. Days that had been stuffed with a lot of training for the up coming capture the flag game. He never thought his fleeing skills would come in handy one day. Being a lonely child that was confused in L.A. wasn't easy when you thought it was funny to fight monsters so that you would get your mother's attention.

Adam was tired he never trained or worked out this much in his entire live. He sat at the front of the Apollo cabin. He didn't feel like going inside well he was way to tired to go inside and for now the stairs was way to comfortable to go in. Adam had been happy lately something he hadn't felt in a long time. He had made friends who weren't afraid of him or were using him to get rid of some bully. A lot of people wouldn't say it now but the fifteen year old hadn't been the sweetest at home.

Sometimes he wondered what his so called friends and band members would think his mother had sent him. Some kind of juvenile detention centre or a re-educated camp. Adam chuckled while thinking of that, in the past two months things had changed a lot. He hadn't hit any one purposely and he even smiled. No one knew it was all thanks to his new friend Carter. The Aphrodite had been amazingly friendly to him something he apparently needed.

Adam made a small sigh and thanked his mother for sending him here. If it wasn't for here and his friend Josh the Satyr. And without noticing he was concentrating on his own tapping that had been a soporific rhythm and his eyelids started feel heavy and almost fell asleep.

Carter sighed, making her way to the cabins. She was sick of all this hype over capture the flag. Adam had been MIA lately, and though she had Julian and Caitlynn, it just wasn't the same. The son of Apollo had been one of her first friends at camp, and she really and truly enjoyed spending time with him. He was nice, which was more then she could say for most of the people at camp, and she genuinely enjoyed being in his company. It probably didn't help that Caitlynn was always off with Matthew, and there was an ongoing obession with Capture the Flag that she couldn't get around, no matter how hard she tried. Grr. Stupid campers. Why did the stupid war game have to be mandatory?

She honestly didn't mind that Adam hadn't been the nicest person in the past. He had a reason for it, after all, and so she couldn't blame him for being... well, a bit cruel and violent. She didn't realize just how much she'd been helping him, which was probably a good thing. Carter would've never believed it, so there was really no point in trying to make her do so. She had shockingly low self esteem for a daughter of Aphrodite, something that seemed to be more and more common lately in their cabin. Hrmm. Interesting. That was kind of strange, actually. But she wouldn't pay it any mind. It wasn't worth it. She continued to meander along, stopping every so often to let her eyes wander around camp.

Carter stopped suddenly, realizing just who was in front of her. "Adam!" she exclaimed, a smile coming over her face. "Hi!" She hadn't seen him since the plant lesson, and that had been ages ago. Gods. She'd missed him and his incessant tapping, despite the fact that the latter had the tendency to get on her nerves at times. "The drumsticks are alright then, I assume?" she asked, making a reference to how nervous her friend had been that his drumsticks would be stolen. "Everything all in one piece?"

Adam felt a dream coming up. Adam had his greatest ideas in dreams. The songs he wrote about them where always the best. At least the band thought so. Adam liked dreaming even though sometimes they are way to sad because he saw his step-dad's face appear most of the time in his dreams. But then just before Adam could open up to the dream world he heard some one call out his name.

Who did that? Adam thought while feeling his heart pound in his throat. Gods! Then he heard Carter her lovely voice and Adam opened his eyes. "You scared me" Adam chuckled while putting his hands on his chest like he was keeping his heart inside his body. Adam was way too happy to see Carter, he had never been this happy to see someone. "Yeah, like you said" Adam thought it was cute that Carter had remembered that he had been worried about his drumsticks. "Still at the same spot as I left them"

Adam looked at his friend with some what sleepy eyes. "How are you? And how's our plant?" The lesson about plants hadn't been that interesting if Carter hadn't been there. Adam knew zero about plants and Carter as well at least she said that. It didn't matter. The plant felt like home economics class like they had to take care of a bag of flower, an egg or even a real baby doll. It was one of the classes that he didn't totally screw up.

"Sorry," Carter said quickly, taking a step back, a blush rising to her cheeks. "I didn't mean to." She offered him a tentative smile. Just because she'd been spending time with Julian lately, didn't mean she couldn't come and fawn over him occasionally. He was amazing. Really. Her first friend, pretty much. Well, besides Caitlynn. But Caitlynn was her sister. It was different. Really different. She offered him a shy hug. "It's good to see you, though." What had it been? A week? Two weeks? Too long. Much too long. She'd missed him immensely.

Carter smiled happily. "I told you they would be," she said in a mock scolding sort of way. "It's not my fault that you didn't believe me. But I'm glad they're okay. I know how devastated you would be if you lost them, or if they got stolen." He was her friend. It was her job to know these things. Really, it was. She wanted to know as much about him as possible. His hopes, his dreams, his fears... She wanted to protect him, as well, though knowing the pair of them, it would most likely be him doing the protecting, not her. Never her. She was too much of a weak little girl for that.

"I'm great, now," Carter said sweetly, smiling at her friend. "And I'm not sure how our plant is. It's a plant. I don't know anything about plants. You'll have to ask Noa about that one." She didn't really care about the plant, anyway. It was rather irrelevant. Besides, why did he? Unless he was just making small talk. Which was nice. Leave it to Adam.

“It’s okay, as long as it's you that scare the hell out of me” Adam chuckled. “I understand that you didn’t mean to do it, it is really no dig deal” He gave Carter a smile that only she could made appear on Adam his face. “It is good to so see you too” He said while softly poking Carter in her waist. He had missed her and that was something good. He knew he couldn’t say that often about people but well Carter wasn’t just people. She just made his day.

“I know my stubborn head didn’t want to believe you. I promise it won’t happen again” He said laughingly. “Thank you, they mean a lot to me, but I do let them in the cabin more often because I trust you” He winked at Carter. That didn’t meant that if they do got stolen he would blame her, he didn’t know he hoped he wouldn’t. She was way too special for him to blow that all away for the drumsticks his step-father gave him before he died and that said a lot. “You are an amazing person, you know that?”

“That makes me happy” Adam said making a soft yawn “Sorry about that” he said guilty. He was just still a bit tired because of the work outs. “I was just asking because I don’t know either and it made me think about home economics. You and me taking care of a plant. We would totally fail for that class if that plant was our baby to take care of” He stuck out his tongue. He knew that if it was really that kind of class Carter and he would have done more to make a good grate. “But it’s not important. Just wondering”

Carter smirked, feeling rather pleased with herself. At least, now that she knew it hadn't been a big deal. She gave a small squeak when Adam poked her in the waist, and took his hand in her own, squeezing gently. She really did enjoy spending time with him. Only problem was, she really liked spending time with Julian, too. And spending time with brothers, especially when she was getting fluttery feelings in her stomach for both, was dangerous. Really dangerous. Eek. She was going to die, although being killed by Julian was the better choice, seeing as he didn't believe in violence anyway.

"No, it's okay," Carter assured him, reaching out to hug him shyly. She hoped that didn't mean that he would blame her if someone took them, or if something bad happened to them. Despite the fact that she'd feel responsible for it anyway, she knew that it would hurt if he blamed her for it, especially since she wouldn't have actually done anything. Urgh. This friendship thing was hard work. A light, rosy blush colored her cheeks, and she smiled softly. "Yes, so I've heard," she admitted, her thoughts going to when Julian had called her beautiful and extraordinary. Okay, seriously. This was getting ridiculous. Her thoughts were going in the direction of Julian wayyy too much. It needed to stop. She was with Adam now. Adam. Her friend. Right. Anyway.

Carter was.... glad that her statement made him happy? Um... okay? Whatever. Ew, Home Economics. She'd hated that when she'd gone to school near her Grandma's house. Ew. Ew ew ew. They'd had to take care of one of those creepy Baby Alive dolls, and her partner had accidentally dropped it in a swimming pool. Yes, because that's being a responsible parent. "Definitely," she agreed, laughing. "Either that, or you would've done all the work because I don't do well with parenting." Shudder.

He was being some what flirty with Carter, was it that strange? Come one she was the daughter of Aphrodite and was amazingly pretty. He wasn’t really one to flirt around but it was easy with Carter.
Not knowing that his brother who he had a lot of fun with and was rather close with lately did the same or felt the same.

No one had told him that if Carter hug him that he would butterflies in his stomach and that they decided to make a mosh-pit in there. Really was he going to fall for the girl that he met first? Classic wasn’t it? He had already noticed that the lyrics he wrote for the band had been more about love then usual. Not really getting that it was about Carter but it was and now he understood that. “Good” He said softly in Carter’s ear.

“Good as long as you know that you won’t mind telling me that right?” At this moment the butterflies in his stomach where still having a mosh-pit in his stomach. He liked the feeling and knew that if he would start to write in his lyrics he would have written a whole song about Carter and what she made him feel like. It would be really strange if he would sing the words right now that came up in his mind.

Who would not fall in love with
That look in her eyes or that smile
She's an angel
Who would not feel the bliss after
One single kiss from her lips
She's an angel

Only covered eyes
Couldn't ignore her beauty
Cause she came straight from heaven

“It’s a good thing that we don’t have to do that then, I don’t think I would be a good parent as well.” He chuckled. At his school his partner had done everything for him just because she was afraid of him. There had been nothing to be afraid of and at the end of the project she saw that and told him that he was actually quite nice. Then he suddenly felt a bit guilty about the fact that he hadn’t spent enough time with Carter lately because of the training. “Sorry, Carter” He said while he reached out to play with Carter her shirt and looked at the ground and then looked back at her and tried to catch her beautiful eyes. “That I have been training so much”

Carter had never been one to realize when guys were flirting with her, hence why she wasn't noticing right now. It would've been awkward if she knew. Seeing as she really didn't think much of herself to begin with, and to have someone actually flirt with her would be... overwhelming. Gah. She still couldn't even wrap her mind around the fact that Julian had called her beautiful, and sounded so sincere about it. It was a weird feeling, to be honest. Especially since he didn't seem like the kind of guy who would lie to a girl just to get her to like him. That was more up the alley of guys like that newish guy in Dionysus. Kyle Marshall. He seemed more like the flirty type.

Fwee~! Yay for hugs! Carter was happy that Adam had hugged back. That he had even allowed her to hug him was pretty exciting, seeing as most guys she knew would be repulsed by it. Oh well. She was fifteen now, and was able to do this sort of thing without being embarrassed. Cool. Oh, speaking of... "Did I come hunt you down on my birthday?" she asked, thinking out loud. "I was going to, but I'm pretty sure I didn't." Oops. That was a little sad. She wished she'd remembered to find him or something. It would definitely have been more enjoyable, instead of spending the day out on the beach by herself, watching the sunset. Sunset watching was no fun when you were alone. That was the sort of thing you did with a friend. Or a boyfriend

"'Course not," Carter replied, giggling. She covered his hands with her own as he began to play with the hem of her shirt. "Why would you be sorry? You didn't do anything." All he'd done was train. That was no more then the rest of the camp had done, and was doing. Except Caitlynn. Probably. She squeezed his hands gently, offering him a sweet smile. He was great. One of her closest friends. She'd never get mad at him for training. Training was the key to his survival.

The girl Adam had a crush on wasn't a real example of a daughter of Aphrodite, by looks she did but the girl wasn't aware of her beauty and if you could believe the story's Aphrodite was aware of that and used it. If Adam had known Carter would be this insecure about herself he would have called her mental and would want her to see herself trough his eyes.

The butterflies in his stomach calmed down when they got back to where they where before the hug. Then his eyes widened. "Your birthday? When was it? Did I miss it?” He felt guilty for not knowing when Carter was celebrating the day of her birth but then again they never really had the chance to talk about that kind of stuff. Time flies when you where having fun and lately he had more fun then he had in ages. Carter was part of that, but with the training and stuff he never really asked her even though it was something he wanted to know. "Apparently not, and you should have. I would have gotten you a present" He said with a small smile.

Adam totally forgot about that he was actually rather tired. If he could he would skip all the sleep just to be with Carter. He couldn't do that because he would get cranky then but if he could he would. Adam stopped playing with the hem of Carter her shirt when she covered them with her own hands and squeezed them a little. Now I blush! Really being a teenager was difficult. "But that doesn't give me the right to spent no time with you, I should have spent more time with you, just because I want to and I love to spent time with you more, you know?" Gods, he just told her that he loved to spent time with her. Smooth Adam, really smooth.

Oh, gods, now he was going to work himself up into a tizzy over missing her birthday. Gracious. Carter sighed, smiling at him. "February," she admitted, smiling. "So yes, you missed it, but that's okay. She didn't really mind. It wasn't important to her. It never really had been, come to think of it. It was weird, but true. She honestly couldn't figure out why she didn't care, but... yeah. She just didn't. And she also couldn't understand why it would matter to him. After all, he didn't like her like that. No guy did. She didn't understand why, exactly. Maybe she was just unlikeable. Who knew. All she knew is that guys didn't seem to like her for some reason, and though she didn't understand it, that was the way it had always been. Of course, she was totally oblivious to how both Adam and Julian seemed to blush and stuff whenever they were around her. Interesting.

"Really, you wouldn't have had to," Carter assured Adam, smiling brightly. Though it meant a lot to her that he would even suggest that. It was sweet. And totally Adam-esque. "My birthday has never been a big deal, so it doesn't matter. Really. I didn't bring it up to make you feel bad or guilty about missing it." Whoops. She'd just been thinking out loud. Something she couldn't do, apparently, because it made other people feel guilty about things that were out of their control. Geez, Adam and Julian were a lot alike. Well, that made sense. Considering they were brothers and all. She was losing it. Or something like that. Her brain was just going right out the window, along with all of her rational thought, apparently.

Aww, Adam was so sweet. "I love spending time with you too," Carter admitted shyly, her cheeks heating up. "And if you want, maybe we could train together sometime? That way, you can get your training in and we can spend time together without it interfering with your life." She smiled at him. Honestly, she wouldn't be offended if he said no. It would just be nice to hang out with him. Either way, really. It didn't matter to her. Not much, anyway.

“Okay so there was a possibility that you didn’t even tell me when it was your birthday and it’s not Okay a birthday is special and even though you think it isn’t we can make it special. I want to make it special for you” Adam said confident. It was the trough and Adam always talked before thinking and even though it would be a good thing to do he just wasn’t going to start now. “Speaking of special, you are special so you deserve a special birthday” Adam chuckled; his birthday was always special and amazing because it was the Fourth of July. Independence Day, with fire work and things like that. His step-father would always bake a cake for as his mother wasn’t able to make one without burning it. He wanted to go home before that day, but he also wanted to stay here and celebrate it with his new Family.

“I would Carter, I would. Like I said I really want to make your birthday special. I want to make every single day of your live special” Adam thought the last part out loud but didn’t felt that it had been inappropriate. He really felt like that, so why wouldn’t he be able to tell her that? Carter was amazing in his eyes and he wanted to let her know that he thought about her in that way. He normally would express himself the best in songs and lyrics but today he felt that he wanted to do it a different way. Only he had to discover how, just by spending time with her. “Well you slightly made me feel guilty just for not knowing when your birthday is just because if you want to woo someone one it is important to know that kind of details”

“You don’t have to; I could do something you like. It’s not like I love to train. On the contrary if I wasn’t really a boy who really didn’t like to lose, I wouldn’t have trained this much. I am really a sore loser you know” Adam chuckled as he tried to change the position of his hands so that he was holding Carter’s hands instead of her hands on top of his. Then he let go of her hands and leaned in to hug her even though his heart told him he wanted to kiss her but that felt wrong and that was why he listened to his mind for now.

Carter shrugged, smiling guiltily. "Whoops," she said, meeting his eyes with her bright hazel ones. "Sorry. But there's always next year." And that gave him a year to plan. Or maybe less. Whatever. "And speaking of special, when's your birthday?" she asked. Did she want to do something for it? Definitely! He was her friend. One of her best friends, in fact. Probably her best. Even though she had a feeling that he liked her or something. Mrr. She hoped not. Even though she had flutterings in her stomach when she hugged him and stuff. That would go away. Hopefully. Besides, she was almost positive that she liked Julian. This was irritatingly complicated. She was really not liking the male gender at the moment. They all confused her.

See? It was a lot easier to be angry then... whatever she was feeling! Confusion, bewilderment.... Grr. Boys! They were all... grr! Despite her emotions on the inside, she managed to give Adam a grin. "Well, we'll definitely have to do something special for my sixteenth birthday," she said, laughing lightly. "And yours, too." Wait... woah. Who wanted to do what now? "Um... what?" Carter asked, a little stunned. Woo? Meaning, like... date or something? Say what? "Adam... what are you talking about?" Please, don't make it what she thought it was. Oh gods. She could definitely feel every fiber of her being screaming out in protest, or something similar. Roar.

"No, really, it's okay," Carter assured him, grinning. "Maybe you can even help me out." Doubtful. She was pretty much beyond the realm of reasonable help. Heh. She didn't like fighting. But if she absolutely had to, she preferred archery. After all, that was a long range weapon, meaning that she wouldn't have to be close to someone, and be at risk of being spattered with their icky, sticky blood. Nasty. "You're going to win," she said soothingly, accepting his hug. "Don't worry about it."
