hmm the fuziness is cause it's a jpg I think. or it coulda been distorted some otherway. red doesn't go to well with magenta... but hey its your first, and it's not bad. next I would suggest using some sort of background picture, insteadof just a plain color.

you have good ideas's, but like i said before you need to put some kind background in instead of plain color. another good idea would to download Gimp, it's a free program with a bunch of cool stuff.

i tried to make a background, and it turned out wrong. but i like doing this so...yeah, here you go.

Go to Google, and type in "free gimp download" download it, and you'll have a GFX program to do cool stuff like filters brushes, and gradients... it's what I use.

You won't get better until you get GIMP... Trust me. I'm still not very good, but I'm much better than when I just had Paint. And Paint can't do animations.
