Title: Diplomacy

Anmoriazzah - March 20, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
I thought it'd be fun to get a little Diplomacy match going. If you don't know what Diplomacy is, sorry, but I'm not in the mood to educate.

Anyway, in addition to the 7 players, I think we'd need a neutral person to send orders to, who would later post them only after all seven had been received.

So, anyone interested?

BTW, you can get a great program to handle movement and map updating here. It's free.

Beowulf - March 20, 2007 07:09 PM (GMT)
I'm in. what rules are we playing by?

Anmoriazzah - March 20, 2007 07:19 PM (GMT)
Standard map, tournament rules. Nothing is assumed (like if you move A Bre to Pic and tell F Eng to Support A Bre, that would be supporting that army's hold, not it's move into Pic. F Eng Support A Bre to Pic would, however).

That reminds me, on the program JDip, if you go to View, Names, and choose, Short, that's the otation I prefer for territories. I'd suggest messing around with that program a little beforehand if you're not familiar with it.

Anything I missed?

Gearix - March 20, 2007 07:58 PM (GMT)
I'm in, keep me posted.

devout_silence - March 20, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
I'm in!

Anmoriazzah - March 21, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
k, so we just need 3 more ppl, 4 if we really need an impartial move poster. If we can all agree on someone trustworthy among this group then that's unnecessary.

Gearix - March 21, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
I could be the move guy. I don't have a problem doing it, and i'm trustworthy. :D :shifty:

Anmoriazzah - March 22, 2007 11:31 PM (GMT)
I leave that to the others to decide.

In the mean time, should I draw lots for countries randomly, or would you guys rather choose your own, assuming nobody wants the same one?

Beowulf - March 22, 2007 11:36 PM (GMT)
It doesn't matter to me which way we choose countries. And I trust Brandon to carry out the orders.

devout_silence - March 23, 2007 02:26 AM (GMT)
Same here.

Gearix - March 23, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
I don't mind if you draw the names randomly for the countries.

That's two!

THE DON - March 25, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
I WANNA PLAY
:)

Beautifully_Broken - March 31, 2007 04:40 AM (GMT)
i'm in

are we on teams or solo in this one ?

Anmoriazzah - March 31, 2007 04:44 AM (GMT)
sweet, just one more person needed. we're going solo, otherwise we'll be here forever waiting for anough people. Besides, that's what alliances are for.

Anmoriazzah - April 7, 2007 04:59 AM (GMT)
K... it's been like a week. We just need one more member. I think for 6 players they say you can drop Turkey and then people aren't allowed to move to Turkey's areas and Greece is no longer a SC. I think Constantinople is still open, but not an SC (or the F Sev is just now an A). I'd rther not do this, but if we can't get another player soon...

devout_silence - April 7, 2007 05:38 AM (GMT)
Crimson_cup is grounded for a few more days, but I'll talk to her at school and see if she wants to do it. If you don't mind holding out just a bit longer?

Anmoriazzah - April 7, 2007 05:45 AM (GMT)
yeah, no problem at all. A good match of Dip is well worth a short wait.

Beautifully_Broken - April 9, 2007 03:16 AM (GMT)
i call russia D-S !!!!!!! haha i get all the vodka ! lol jk ..i love history class

Gearix - April 9, 2007 11:45 AM (GMT)
Well, I know we are waiting on one more, but I wants Germany, if none object.

Beowulf - April 10, 2007 02:54 AM (GMT)
I see.....Then I call France.

devout_silence - April 10, 2007 08:20 PM (GMT)
Take all the good ones, why don't you? :P

@ BB

I'll fight you to the death for Russia! :D

Anmoriazzah - April 15, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
So, how soon can we get underway?

Dibs on Italy!

Gearix - April 16, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Well, you guys just let me know when we are ready and I will start the moves. I CALL GERMANY! just a reminder :D

devout_silence - April 16, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
That leaves...?

Beowulf - April 24, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
Turkey and Austria

Anmoriazzah - May 1, 2007 11:18 PM (GMT)
k, looks like we're only gonna have 6 people, so there are a few methods to do this with just us.

1. Italy is all hold every time.

2. Italy is prostituted out. Every turn a country is drawn out of a hat and they get to enter Italy's orders, however they wish, for that turn (turn meaning 1 half of the year, not a full year). I've done this before and it's really interesting. It random enough that I don't think it gives anyone an unfair advantage or extreme hindrance, though it rarely (never) simulates what an actual player would do in Italy.

Either way, that means I can't be Italy and I don't care whether I play Turkey or Austria, whoever's left jsut pick and I'll take the other.

Beautifully_Broken - May 2, 2007 01:40 AM (GMT)
there's no way you're getting russia :P

I think it'd be funny to just leave Italy on Hold, and move the armies out of a peice of the country someone wants to take over, that would make it a race for Italy.

Anmoriazzah - May 2, 2007 02:16 AM (GMT)
Well the point of all hold is that the armies don't move at all. Otherwise Austria and France are gonna get too many easy builds. But It'd still be easy, as Italy wouldn't be supporting itself, so you'd just have to double into a province. Really not much effort, but it's not handed over like any neutral center.

Gearix - May 2, 2007 12:14 PM (GMT)
Ah, yes that's true, forgot about that.

Anmoriazzah - May 4, 2007 02:01 AM (GMT)
So, is that what we want to do? 6 players and Italy all holds, or the lottery for Italy movements?

Beowulf - May 4, 2007 02:03 AM (GMT)
Why don't we just find an Italy player *coughcoughfirelordcoughcough*

Gearix - May 4, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Well, if we can't get FL to play, then I like the idea of just having Italy Hold.

I thought he'd been asked earlier? If not, it'd be wonderful to have 7 aboard!

Firelord - May 5, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
make it so...

i'll take italy for all its worth

all hail the italian ninja

Anmoriazzah - May 6, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
k, I've never been Austria before, so I'd like that one. This should be fun.

The only other thing to decide is how often we want orders to be in and how strict we are gonna be on deadlines. I think on forums once a day would be a bit too fast of a pace, but about twice a week, say at or before midnight on Teusday and Saturday? That leaves 3 days in between each phase for diploming.

Firelord - May 6, 2007 12:24 AM (GMT)
hmmm sounds good to me... depends on if i work and how long... but a midnight due time is good

Gearix - May 6, 2007 12:25 AM (GMT)
Alright, let me know when you are all ready.

Anmoriazzah - May 6, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
Okay, then we'll start as soon as all 7 leaders post the name of their nation (just to insure there's no confusion and make sure verybody knows who they are gonna need to talk to).

Austria ready to go!

Firelord - May 6, 2007 11:01 PM (GMT)
Italy is a go!
