On the negative side, she's over baring, strong willed, with a vindictive streak. She doesn't know how to turn off the anger sometimes, and if she's hurt by someone, it is very hard for her to forgive them. Her fierce attitude and wicked tongue have gotten her into her fair share of fights, and she doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. She's never really gotten along with members of the same sex, and she's oblivious to when the opposite sex likes her. She's got some self destructive tendencies and a bit of self loathing along in there as well. When it comes to lovers, she's jealous, possessive, and can be a little over baring. She doesn't understand when or why anyone would like her, so if someone's flirting, she's friendly back, and it does cause many fights.

But on the other hand, she does have a few good qualities. She is loyal to those who mean a lot to her, and once she makes a friend, she has a hard time letting go of them. She's persistent and has been through so much that she doesn't get shocked too easily when something bad happens. When it comes to lovers, she is faithful and treats them with more appreciation and devotion than anyone else in her life. She loves with every part of her, and although she stumbles, she always tries her best to make her significant other happy.

Mary wasn't exactly loved since birth. Her father was instantly disappointed in the fact she was a girl, and disgusted at the fact that she had the fever. Her childhood was lonely, her first five years were spent with very little contact with her parents and was only really loved by her grandmother. When she turned six, her little brother was born, and for the most part, her parents forgot about her. The only time she could get any affection from them was when she misbehaved or brought her affliction to their attention.

She was an awkward child at school, not quite fitting in with her school mates. When she was nine, it became obvious to her parents that they could no longer ignore her or her abilities. As her abilities began to develop, she began telling the future of the children around her. After being banned from school, her and her father's lack of relationship turned into one of two enemies. She tried to please him, and even went out of her way to hide her abilities, but her father had no love in his heart for her. By the time she was eleven, he shipped her away to a hospital for the inflicted.

Her time in the hospital was surrounded by death and sadness. Chemical baths and electro shock treatments were a regular occurrence. She stayed for two years before she was allowed to come home, and by that time, her grandmother had died.

For another two years, she kept to herself, fighting with her father, and taking care of her little brother. Upon finding out about an affair that her father had on her mother, she told her mother in hopes that she'd leave the man who was emotionally abusing them. When her father found out, that was the last straw.

When she was fourteen, he sold her to a circus. He pushed her out of the car and never looked back.

For the first couple of months, Mary actually found herself in a place that she considered home. She fit in with the other infected, and although it was small, it was a c lose knit group. On the fourth night she was there, the ringleader took notice of her, and began to favor her. To her, she thought she had finally come to a place she belonged in.

It wasn't until the ringleader began taking her into his tent at night, using her for his own sick purposes,. His ability was to make people do whatever he wanted them too, so she was defenseless against him. For three years, she was his pet, shared with his closest friends, cut off from the rest of the world, and kept under lock and key. Her life was spent wasted, strung out on Vincent's abilities, with no way of escape.

When Faighan found her, his heart reached out to the girl. He took her with him, and helped her escape.

After two suicide attempts, it was clear that she needed more help than he could give her. He sent her to live with a healer who had a type of gypsy circus. She spent a year becoming a new person, having to get her past life washed away. She came back completely different, but still resentful and feisty.

She fit into the circus life, still not quite fitting in with other women, unable to relate to them. For the most part, she made herself comfortable and has no intention of leaving.
