Official network description
Douglas Coupland's JPOD was a #1 National Bestseller and this blockbuster novel is now being imagined for television by two of Canada's top writing talents: internationally renowned author Coupland and Gemini-nominated writer Michael McLennan (Godiva's, Queer As Folk). This hilarious, richly contemporary, one-hour dramatic series is set in modern Vancouver and follows an ensemble of characters including the Jarlewski family. Gun-toting Mom (Sherry Miller) has a lucrative grow op in her basement. Actor-wannabe father Jim (Alan Thicke) has abandoned his engineering career to pursue extra roles in Hollywood North; son Ethan, more of a parent to his parents, is the heart & moral centre of this family, as he struggles to find meaning in his life while working alongside five colleagues at a lucrative gaming company (think Electronic Arts). JPOD will present in the vein of Grey's Anatomy with the colour and vibrancy of an Ugly Betty. Where and When It Will Air In Canada the show will air on CBC in January of 2008. The show has not yet been picked up yet in other countries as far as I know. What I Have To Say About It Though I'm not quite sure I'll like it (it's not quite my type of show) it does look like something worth checking out. |
