TV.com description
Corner Gas is about the lives of the people who live in Dog River and hang around the only gas station and restaurant in town. The cast of characters includes Brent LeRoy, the owner of Corner Gas and chronic comicbook reader; his assistant at the station, Wanda Dollard, who is just a little too well educated to be stuck where she is, but doesn't seem to mind it; Hank Yarbo, Brent's friend from his school days whose hobbies consist of hanging out at the gas station and drinking coffee; Lacey Burrows, a big-city girl who's a little out of place in small town Saskatchewan; Brent's parents, Oscar and Emma LeRoy, who bicker all the time, but when push comes to shove, they're there for each other; and the town constabulary, Davis Quinton and Karen Pelly, who seem to get into more trouble than they stop. The show has been a favourite in Canada since its inception, and has constantly hit high marks in the ratings, making it the number one comedy in Canada. It has garnered numerous award nods and wins, including the Canadian Comedy Awards, the Directors' Guild of Canada, Writers' Guild of Canada, Gemini Awardsand an Emmy nomination.

The Official Network Description
Corner Gas focuses on the life (or lack thereof) of Brent LeRoy, proprietor of a gas station that is the only stop for miles around and a hub of action on the Prairies. As LeRoy, Canadian Comedy Award winner and series creator Brent Butt returns to his native province to portray the life he would have led had he gotten a real job: pumping gas in a small prairie town.

Dog River is a place where everyone knows everyone else's business. Populated by a group of regular folks, the town's many "distinguished" residents include Brent's parents Oscar and Emma (Eric Peterson and Janet Wright), coffee shop owner Lacey Burrows (Gemini nominee Gabrielle Miller), his best friend Hank Yarbo (Fred Ewanuick), police officers Davis Quinton (Lorne Cardinal) and Karen Pelly (New Waterford Girl's Tara Spencer-Nairn) and retail assistant Wanda (Nancy Robertson).

When and Where It's On
In Canada, the show's fifth season will debute on CTV in the fall.
In the United States, the first season will premiere on Superstation WGN in the fall.
In Australia, the first season began on SBS at the beginning of 2007 but has since been taken off.

What I Have To Say About It
As a smalltown Saskatchewaner myself, there are some bits on the show which I find annoying, certain lines obviously pandering to Torononians or other big-city types. I also find the cops on the show incredibly annoying and stupid (I roll my eyes at the drivel that comes out of their mouths). But Oscar and Emma truly make the show. If it weren't for them I wouldn't watch it. I like Wanda too. I watch the show every once and a while. Last year's season finale was hilariusly good.
