The small cog in the middle should be on that spline thing and where the hole is on the 'cage' there should be a small cog.

These bits were kicking about, loose... Nothing should be loose in a diff.

This is what they turned out to be. They should be in the 'cage' part you can see in the top pic, attached to the hole you can see in it.

So... thats why my car wasnt working, and thats why you shouldnt put a 316 diff on a 325.

Today Darren came over and swapped the old f*cked diff for a new one.

Another 316 diff biggrin.gif. Even closer ratio too cos its from an auto. (old one was 4.2, new one is 4.45, proper 325 ones are 3.7).

Bring on another few months of uber acceleration fun. yay.

(and I didnt bother welding it up, it wont last long enough to make it worthwhile)

if it was welded up, the planet gears would be strong enough to not blow up...,and those bits arnt as small as the bits that came out of our red 205's gripper diff, good for 300bhp my arse!! we did that a beauty lol.

lol! Well there's still a few bits in there. I'm going to take it apart when I can be bothered.

Hmmm... so welding it will make it stronger... what better excuse is there? laugh.gif

yes because you are welding up the bits that have broken on yours, its only the large cogs that will remain, do it mate, it will sort it right out,

oh, just get used to driving it before you go trying to rag it about cos it will try to push on understeer more than a standard diff would
