Taking, yes. My time that is.
I'm currently on my fourth playthrough. Except, this time I'm on Hard mode. It actually wasn't bad until I got to Thardus...with four energy tanks. Is it just me, or is the storm even thicker than usual? It almost makes me want to stick with the overloaded Thermal Visor, it's a bit easier to see. Whatever the case, I keep nearly beating him. I'll get him next time for sure. So, anybody else irrationally hooked? |

I have a Metroid Prime addiction. I've played it three times, once on standard (or whatever they call it), and twice on hard. Fret not. That damn rock-monster can be beaten. I can't remember, how, though. I spent three hours on him, starting at ten at night, and beat him with nobody there to witness it. Fortunately, he's the hardest boss in the game, so once you beat him, the Metroid Prime is so easy, it's sad. Fight on, suited warrior. You know, Thardus is like Nightmare from fusion, times ten. You just have to get lucky once, and pray like never before that the game doesn't freeze up between you beating him, and getting to the next savepoint. I won't even bother recalling how hard he was when I played on hard the first time. I can only remember the second time^. I think I intentionally erased the horrific experience from my memory....

Heh, I nearly got him. My main problem is that I'm going into the battle with low ammo... no super missiles to blast him apart with.
Next time I get the chance to play, however, he's definately going down. I only got to try him twice before I had to turn it off and get some other stuff done. |

Heh, finally got around to playing again, blasted that sucker on my first try. Now I'm pressing forward again, going to check out some disturbances in the ruins. :D
I still can't believe how infatuated I am with this game. |

I believe it. The metroid prime series kicks ass, and anybody who doesn't like it needs to be given a lesson at my dojo. My prices have gone up, recently, though. I checked the market, and Whoop-ass has gone up seventeen cents a can! Gotta match my prices with the market competitor...
Anyways. Tell me when you beat the metroid prime. I wept tears of ecstatic joy at how awesome they made boss battles in this game. |

Heh, I'm going after the plasma beam now, I think. I forget what it is, but I just got X-ray and am heading over to Magmoor... It's surprising me how easy Hard Mode has been so far, other than Thardus it's been a breeze, I've only been low on health once in the Phazon mines.
It's great, because I immerse myself so much into the game that I forget what it is I'm going after until I'm nearly on top of it, or strain my brain trying to remember. It makes it so fun. |

Did you notice how it seems they put some rooms in the game just for the beauty of the scenery? It makes it possible for you to just take a break and think with the sound of the waterfall in your surround sound speakers behind you, a faint mist on your visor, and the occasional raindrop, and a harmless little spike bug wandering around and just... living... no preassure, no suspense, just awesome stuff. I love games that do that, and Metroid Prime was the first one I ever found like it. Makes me want to live on that planet...
Can you imagine the kind of screen-shots you could take if you could go into third person mode (without being a morph ball)? Those would make up all of my computer desktops. |

Yeah, that was one of those things I always knew was there, but it didn't dawn on me until recently the simple beauty of it until just recently. It's cool because the scenery even looks good up-close, instead of looking grainy and over-pixelated it still looks about as good as it did from a distance. And I totally agree with you on the screenshot thing. EDIT: Just played some more, beat down that Omega Pirate. The first couple times I just barely lost (One more shot to kill him) due to those idiotic lil pirate guys he calls in. So I went off and did what every underpowered Samus does -Backtrack and item collect. I got two more energy tanks and almost doubled my missiles, grabbed Ice Spreader and Wavebuster (Though they don't do any good for me...) too. Wavebuster wasn't much help, 1 super missile is quicker and takes less ammo per time he's vulnerable. So yeah, Artifact huntin' time, then after that: Ridley and Motherbra...I mean, Metroid Prime. |

Yeah, this game pretty much dictated my life back in the day. I can't remember how many times I've beaten it, but I'm positive at least 10.
These days all I do is hard mode, but it was tough on the first try. |

Goshdarnit.
I whipped through all the artifacts real quick, and snagged a bit at Meta Ridley. The only problem I had was that right at the my lock-on stopped working, so I couldn't dash away from his attacks. I got him down to one more shot twice and died both times thanks to that. Then I tried again, and thankfully my Lock-on stayed true and I whooped him, had a few energy tanks left too. (hence the whooping part) Jogged on down to Metroid Prime, and I nearly beat it but then my family got home. They didn't really have a clue what was happening and so they didn't get how much I needed my concentration... and the fact that pops kept going back-and-forth in front of the screen really didn't help. I'd had 5 out of 14 tanks left when they got back, 7 of those I had when I first started the battle. Oh well. So, Metroid Prime is pretty easy... I just need a time I can actually concentrate so I can beat the dang thing. Oh, and I got so fed up with Ridley that I smacked my hand down on the cushy-soft armrest, but on the way down my hand snagged on my controller and I got hurt... so now I'm bleeding a bit and my hand hurts to high-heaven. It hurts to TYPE! XD That is the first incident of violence induced by games for me. I guess Metroid Prime stirs up all sorts of emotions. :P Wait, does that even count as violence? I mean, I just smacked my cushy-soft armrest. Hm. |

Oh dang.... I pitty you. I did my second play through of Metroid Prime with my Dad watching the whole time. He loves watching the game, and he was pretty much an interruption shield for me. He wouldn't let anybody bother him or me while I was doing the game. You don't know how much that makes me love my Dad....
Anyways, the only downside to him watching the whole thing, is he didn't like the music, and I'm a pushover... :P . I played the second playthrough without stopping to enjoy the scenery or listening to any of the music. :( He's the same guy that keeps on buying new multiplayer RTS games for us to duke it out on. My mom hates how much we have in common :D. |

Heh, he's actually pretty cool like that too. It was mostly that they just got home and he was looking for something in the general TV area. What's really funny is that almost every time my dad sees me play, I'm either at Thardus, Omega Pirate, or Metroid Prime. XD He actually played Super Metroid once, and wasn't half bad. I'm going to go see about whooping that overgrown mutant spider-octopus thing now. >:) |

Oh... dang... suddenly I envy you. My dad won't even try to play any of the adventure games I get into. He's a software engineer, and got to the point where action was to be watched, and the only stuff he plays is RTS stuff. He can't play an action/adventure game to save his life...
Anyways, You got me reminiscing from the start of this post, and I couldn't help but start another playthrough of the game. I'm finding, though, now that I gave the beauty of the game a serious thought, I am taking this game VERRRRRRYYYYYYYY SLOOOOOOOOWLYYYYYYYYYY.... I have it sitting there right now with Samus standing right in front of a waterfall near where her ship lands, and her visor is slightly misted over, and the constant waterfall is sounding from the rear speakers of my surround sound. I found that place I was talking about rather easily, it turns out... :P I've decided I'm not going to even pause the game until I'm completely finished, this time around. It's not like the Gamecube is going to overheat or anything. It turns out that those beautiful scenes make wonderful artificial environments for my room. (the TV is broadside of my futon and a bit away, with the speakers being focused around the futon. It makes a wonderful set-up). I'm hoping to cure my obsession with the genius of the Prime series by real-timing it (basically, play game, find resting spot and place Samus there, get eating and other necesities out of the way, 'wake' Samus up, repeat) This prohibits me from doing things that would interrupt Samus's story with the story of my life. I consider my foruming to be part of the 'other necesities'. Fortunately, this sudden urge to play the game coincided with a school break, which is happening because they have to clean up the place after some water damage. :) <_<... What? I swear! I had nothing to do with it! Whoa... I think that may have been one too many cups of coffee... Oh well. Samus? Are you well rested? Let's get back to work... |

Wow, your dads pretty much rock. My dad is always asking me again whether I have a GameStation, a PlayCube 360 or WiiBox...

Got another chance to play, blasted Metroid Prime easily on my first try. Still had like four-five energy tanks left, too. Then my bro told me he'd never seen the part with the space station, so I started another file to show him that. I chose normal difficulty since I was just going to play through the opening sequence... but the dang thing dragged me in again. XD
So this time I'm seeing how quickly I can beat it. I just got the Wave beam and I'm only and hour and fifteen minutes in. Granted, I spent a bit of time lollygagging around the station. So just when I thought I'd escaped it's grasp, it drags me back in. Moku, that is possibly the coolest thing ever. I wish I had a TV in my room so I could do that, I totally would. My dad has only played Super Metroid one so far, and I pestered him for a while. I dunno if he'll ever pick it up again, but the save file's still there. *shrug* |
